3 The Event The consists of a Marathon, Half Marathon, 8K Road Race and Kids Run. 0th Annual Marathon Beautiful oceanfront route featuring Victoria s spectacular coastline and scenery. Boston Marathon Qualifier. Gently undulating course with maximum elevation of 5 metres, and a minimum elevation of three metres. Inner Harbour finish area with medals, refreshments, water, medical, change tents and clothing check located right at the finish line. Half Marathon The course features a downtown-waterfront loop through Fairfield before finishing in front of the BC Legislative Buildings. Fast and relatively flat course, the finest on Vancouver Island for a personal best time in all age categories. The largest, most popular and growing field in the Victoria Marathon Race Weekend. Course record set in 00 by Jon Brown in 1:0:3. New Women s course record set in 01 by Natasha Fraser in 1:1:06. 8K Road Race Victoria s largest 8K Road Race. Course record set in 1989 by Gary Barber in 3:3. New Course in Loop of downtown, following the same course as the Half and Full Marathon until Beacon Hill Park, turn right on Dallas Road for a fast downhill stretch along the water to the finish line in front of the Legislative Buildings. Kids Run A 1.5km run for kids 1 and under in support of KidSport of Greater Victoria. Parents can run with their children for the entire route. Starts and finishes at Kingston and Menzies at the main start of the Marathon and Half Marathon. 100% of the proceeds to to KidSport Victoria. Over $500,000 has been raised for KidSport through this event. A Board of Directors, a General Manager, an organizing committee of 50 and 1,600 dedicated volunteers stage this annual event. We feel so privileged and proud to be affiliated with one of the premiere athletic events in Canada and one of the most prestigious running events in the world - David Patchell-Evans, President/CEO GoodLife Fitness Victoria is one my favourite cities in the world and the Victoria Marathon is one of my favourite weekends of the year. 5 Great Charities To Run For 019 Official Charities The has four Official Charities local and national, providing much needed funds in their respective areas. KidSport Greater Victoria is a local non-profit organization whose goal is to ensure that kids from families facing financial barriers, and children from under-represented groups, have opportunity to participate in sport. Funds raised locally are spent locally and are distributed to cover registration fees associated with a season of sport. Pacific Autism Family Network, Autism Spectrum Disorder is the most commonly diagnosed neurological disorder in Canada, with approximately 1 in 68 children now facing diagnoses. The Pacific Autism Family Network (PAFN) is a charitable organization with a mandate to serve the needs of all individuals and families in British Columbia affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder across their lifespan. Our goal is to ensure that that all British Columbians have access to essential state-of-the-art resources for assessment, treatment, education-support and research, by providing a one-stop-shop for families looking for help in their navigation of information and services. We are a Hub and Spoke modeled network, with our main 60,000 sq.ft building, the GoodLife Fitness Family Autism Hub, having opened in Richmond B.C. in November 016, and our smaller spoke-like centres opening across the province in time. We are an inclusive charitable organization that collaborates with service providers, community agencies, professionals, vocational schools, academic institutions, policy makers and researchers. GoodLife Kids Foundation purpose is for every Canadian kid to have the opportunity to live a fit and healthy good life. We raise funds to support national, provincial and local programs that provide ongoing physical activity opportunities for kids and remove some of the barriers currently holding children back from living a healthy life. In addition, the Victoria Marathon Society endorses charities that make up the GoodLife Fitness Victoria Marathon CHEK Charity Pledge Program. In 017, 11 charities participated and raised $13,000. Charities participate in partnership with our event to raise awareness of their individual causes and raise the dollars needed through the collection of pledges.
