2 Merits of Sūrat al-sajda This is a Meccan sūrah. The only surah beginning with the discrete Arabic letters Alif Lām Mīm that also contains a ayah which requires one who recites it to perform a PROSTRATION of bowing down to the ground before God in worship at the mention of God s revealed signs. It takes its name from verse 15which mentions prostration (sajdah). The surah emphasized the truth of the Quran at the beginning, and the Prophet is urged at the end of the surah to pay no attention to the disbelievers who cannot see the significance of God s signs. Some scholars say that the 19th, 20th and 21st ayaat of this surah are madani. In the commentary of Burhan it is narrated from the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) that the reward for reciting surah as-sajdah and surah al-mulk is the same as what reward is gotten if one spends the entire night of Qadr in worship. It is said that the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) used to recite these surahs before sleeping. The person who recites this surah will be given 60 rewards, forgiven 60 sins and raised 60 levels nearer to Allah (s.w.t.). Imam Ja far as-sadiq (a.s.) has said that one who recites this surah will be given his book of deeds in his right hand on the Day of Judgement and will be counted from among the friends of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) and his family. Keeping this surah in writing works as a cure from aches and pains.

9 السجدة سورة ي الل ف ا م و ب ا م و ض ر ا ل و ات او م الظ ق رل ش ي ال ش ص ػ ال ل غ ى ت اع ث م ام ا ة ت ع It is Allah who created the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them in six days, then He settled on the Throne. یہ ر لل ا ےہسجےنہ و ےہاور ایک ھچدںےکادنردیپا امسںورنیماوراسیکامتمدرایمینولخماقبوک ا ےہ اانپادتقاراقمئایک اسےکدعبرعسرپ अल र ह ह ह क जसन आक श औय धयत क औय ज क छ द न क फ ह छह ददन भ ऩ द ककम तफ वह लस ह सन ऩय फस allāhu lladhī khalaqa s-samāwāti wa-l-ʾarḍa wa-mā baynahumā fī sittati ʾayyāmin thumma stawā ʿalā l-ʿarshi

12 ذ ل م غ ال م ال غ ب و الش اد ة ال ػ ض ض الص خ م ٦ That is the Knower of the sensible and the Unseen, the All-mighty, the All-merciful, وہخدا احرض و اغبت ستاک اجےننواال اور اصحت زع ب ورہمن اں ےہ वह ह ऩय औय प रत म क ज नन व र अत मन त प रब त वश र, दम व न ह dhālika ʿālimu l-ghaybi wa-sh-shahādati l-ʿazīzu r-raḥīmu

Rather they disbelieve in the encounter with their Lord. - اورہی ےتہک ںیہ ہک ارگ مہ رنیم ںیم مگ وہےئگوتایک یئنتقلخںیم رھپ ظاہر ےئک اجںیئ ےگ م نک ر ںیہ ہی ےہ ہک ہی اےنپ رپورداگر یک مالاقب ےک ن اب औय उन ह न कह, "जफ हभ धयत भ यर-लभर ज ए ग त कपय क म हभ व स तफ भ नव न क म भ ज ववत ह ग?" नह, फक ल क उन ह अऩन यफ स लभरन क इनक य ह wa-qālū ʾa-ʾidhā ḍalalnā fī l-ʾarḍi ʾa-ʾinnā la-fī khalqin jadīdin bal hum bi-liqāʾi rabbihim kāfirūna

17 Sūrat al-sajda ش و ه و ب ن م ث م م ت ال ي اهم م ل م ال ص ج ػ ن ١١ ن م ت ر ب ت ف إ ل لو Say, You will be taken away by the angel of death, who has been charged with you. Then you will be brought back to your Lord. ا ب ہہک دےئجی ہکمتوک و کلمہ اوملبردنیگ یک ا رخئزنملنک اچنہپےئ اگوجمترپ انیعتب ایک ایگ ےہاسےکدعبمتسترپورداگر یک ناراگہ ںیم شیپ ےئک اجو ےگ कह, "भ त म क फ रयश त ज त भऩय तनम क त ह, वह त म ह ऩ णग र ऩ स अऩन ब ज भ र र त ह कपय त भ अऩन यफ क ओय व ऩस ह ग " qul yatawaffākum malaku l-mawti lladhī wukkila bikum thumma ʾilā rabbikum turjaʿūna

18 اه ظ ر ء وع م غ وس ر ب و ل ت ص ى إ ذ ال م ج ص م ن ه ا و ع م ػ و ا ب ص ص ه ف ار ج ػ و ا ص ال د ا إ ه ا ه ػ م و ر ب و ا ا م م ل و ن ١٢ Were you to see when the guilty hang their heads before their Lord [confessing], Our Lord! We have seen and heard. Send us back so that we may act righteously. Indeed we are [now] convinced. اوراکس ا ب دےتھکیحترجمنیم رپورداگر یک ناراگہ ںیمرساکھجےئ ڑھکے وہں ےگ - رپورداگر مہ ےنستدھکی ایلاورنسایلابںیمہ دونارہ واسپ رکدے ہک مہ بنکلمعرکںی کشیب مہ نیقی رکےن واولں ںیم ںیہ औय मदद कह त भ द खत जफ व अऩय ध अऩन यफ क स भन अऩन लसय झ क ए ह ग कक "हभ य यफ! हभन द ख लरम औय स न लरम अफ हभ व ऩस ब ज द, त कक हभ अच छ कभग कय तनस स द ह अफ हभ ववश व स ह गम " wa-law tarā ʾidhi l-mujrimūna nākisū ruʾūsihim ʿinda rabbihim rabbanā ʾabṣarnā wa-samiʿnā fa-rjiʿnā naʿmal ṣāliḥan ʾinnā mūqinūna

19 Sūrat al-sajda ال ك ل ػ ن ن خ ق و ا هو ه ف ط س ا ا و ل ن و ل ش ئ و ا لت ج م ج و ة و الو اس ا ن ج و م م ن ال م ل م و ل ١٣ Had We wished We would have given every soul its guidance, but My word became due [against the defiant]: Surely I will fill hell with all the [guilty] jinn and humans. اورمہ اچےتہوتربجاہرسفن وکاسیک دہابت دے دےتی نکیل امہرئرطفےس ہینابےط وہیکچ ح ہ ی م وکانجباورامتمرمگاہ انساونں ےس رھبدںی ےگ ےہ ہک مہ मदद हभ हत त प रत म क व मक क त क उसक अऩन स भ गग ददख द त, ततन त भ य ओय स फ त सत म वऩत ह क ह कक "भ जहन नभ क क जन न औय भन ष म, सफस बयकय यह ग " wa-law shiʾnā la-ʾātaynā kulla nafsin hudāhā wa-lākin ḥaqqa l-qawlu minnī la- ʾamlaʾanna jahannama mina l-jinnati wa-n-nāsi ʾajmaʿīna

20 ظ و اه م ش ا إ ه ا ه ػ م ل ن ت ١٤ اء م ن م ظ ت م ل ك ف ش ول ا ب م ا ه وت م س م ا ه ز و ذ ول ا غ ش اب ال ل ب So taste [the punishment] for your having forgotten the encounter of this day of yours. We [too] have forgotten you. Taste the everlasting punishment because of what you used to do. ذہل متا ولگاسناباک مرہ وھکچ ہکمتےن ا ح ےکدںیک مالاقب وک ا ھال دنا اھتوتمہ ےن یھبمتوک رظنادنار رکدنا ےہاباےنپ زگہتشاامعلےک دبےل دایمئذعاباک مرہ وھکچ अत अफ ख भज, इसक कक त भन अऩन इस ददन क लभरन क ब र ए यख त हभन ब त म ह ब र ददम श श वत म तन क यस स व दन कय, उसक फदर भ ज त भ कयत यह ह fa-dhūqū bi-mā nasītum liqāʾa yawmikum hādhā ʾinnā nasīnākum wa-dhūqū ʿadhāba l-khuldi bi-mā kuntum taʿmalūna

21 ش ن إ ذا ذ ه ص وا ب ا ر ص وا ع ج س ا إ ه م ا ؤ م ن ب ا ات و ا ال ظ ت ن ب ص ون ١٥ و ع ب د ا ب د م س ر ب م و م ل Only those believe in Our signs who, when they are reminded of them, fall down in prostration and celebrate the praise of their Lord, and they are not arrogant. امہرئ ا وتیں رپ اامیں الےن واےلافرادسبو ںیہنجہ ںیہ ا ناب یک ناد دالیئ اجیت ےہوتدجس ںیمہ رگ ڑپےت ںیہاوراےنپربیک دمحوانث یک حیبست رکےت ںیہاورربکت ںیہن رکےت ںیہ हभ य आमत ऩय ज फस वह र ग ईभ न र त ह, क जन ह उनक द व य जफ म द ददर म ज त ह त सजद भ चगय ऩडत ह औय अऩन यफ क ग णग न कयत ह औय घभ ड नह कयत ʾinnamā yuʾminu bi-ʾāyātinā lladhīna ʾidhā dhukkirū bihā kharrū sujjadan wasabbaḥū bi-ḥamdi rabbihim wa-hum lā yastakbirūna

22 غ ن ر ب م ر ف ا ج و ب م غ ن ال م ض اج ع س و ا م وف ك ن ١٦ ط م ػ ا و م م ا ر زل و ت ت ج اف Their sides vacate their beds to supplicate their Lord in fear and hope, and they spend out of what We have provided them. اںےک ولہپرتسبےس اگل اورامہرے رےتہ ںیہاوروہ اےنپ رپورداگر وکوخفاورعمطیک اینبد رپ اکپرےت رےتہ ںیہ د ب ئے وہےئررقےس امہرئ راہ ںیماافنقرکےت رےتہ ںیہ उनक ऩहर बफस तय स अरग यहत ह कक व अऩन यफ क बम औय र रस क स थ ऩ क यत ह, औय ज क छ हभन उन ह ददम ह उसभ स ऽ ग कयत ह tatajāfā junūbuhum ʿani l-maḍājiʿi yadʿūna rabbahum khawfan wa-ṭamaʿan wamimmā razaqnāhum yunfiqūna

23 ف ل غ ن ج ض اء ف ط م ا ا ر ف ل م م ن ل ص ة ا ت ػ ل م ه ب م ا ه اه ا ػ م ل ن ١٧ No one knows what has been kept hidden for them of comfort as a reward for what they used to do. سپ یسکسفنوک ںیہنولعممےہ ہکاس ےک ےئل ایک ایک یکنخ مشچ ےکاامعلیکزج ےہا اکشاامںاپھچ رک راھک ایگ ےہوج اں कपय क ई प र ण नह ज नत आ ख क ज ठ डक उसक लरए तछऩ यख गई ह उसक फदर भ द न क ध म म स ज व कयत यह ह ग fa-lā taʿlamu nafsun mā ʾukhfiya lahum min qurrati ʾaʿyunin jazāʾan bi-mā kānū yaʿmalūna

24 ان م ا ف م ن ه ظ ت ون ؤ م و ا ه م ن ه ان ف اع كا ل ١٨ Is someone who is faithful like someone who is a transgressor? They are not equal. ایک وہصخشوجاصح تاامیں ےہاس ےکلثموہاجےئ وہ شکئے اگوج افقسےہ ہرزگ ںیہن دوونں ب را ب رںیہن बर ज व मक क त ईभ नव र ह वह उस व मक क त ज स ह सकत ह ज अव क य ह? व फय फय नह ह सकत ʾa-fa-man kāna muʾminan ka-man kāna fāsiqan lā yastawūna

25 م و ا و غ م ل ا الص ال د ات ف ل م ج و ات ش ن ا ا م ا ال ل م ا ه اه ا ػ م ل ن ا و ى ١٩ ال م ه ض ب As for those who have faith and do righteous deeds, for them are gardens of the Abode a hospitality for what they used to do. وجولگ اامیں الےئ ںیہاورانہوں ےن بنکاامعلےئک ںیہاںےک ےئلا رامرکےن یک وجاںےکاامعلیکزج ںیہا خینی ں ںیہ यह व र ग ज ईभ न र ए औय उन ह अच छ कभग ककए, उनक लरए ज कभग व कयत यह उसक फदर भ आततथ म स वर ऩ यहन क फ ह ʾammā lladhīna ʾāmanū wa-ʿamilū ṣ-ṣāliḥāti fa-lahum jannātu l-maʾwā nuzulan bi-mā kānū yaʿmalūna

26 و ا م الو ار ش ن ف ظ ك ا ف م ا و ا م ا ال As for those who have transgressed, their refuge is the Fire. اورنجولوگں ےنقسفاایتخر ایک ےہاں اک اکھٹنا م ےہ ح ہ ی यह व र ग क जन ह न स भ क उल र घन ककम, उनक दठक न आग ह wa-ʾammā lladhīna fasaqū fa-maʾwāhumu n-nāru

27 Sūrat al-sajda ص ج ا م و ا ا غ س وا ف ا و ل و ل م ر وا ا اد ن ز ه ل م ا ا ب ن ش ه وت م ب ي ت ن ش اب الو ار ال ي ٢٠ ذ ول ا غ ش Whenever they seek to leave it, they will be turned back into it, and they will be told: Taste the punishment of the Fire which you used to deny. ہک ح ت اسےس اک نکلئے ارادہ رکںی ےگوتدونارہ اٹلپ د ب ئے اجںیئ ےگاوراہک اجےئ ا گ اک مرہ وھکچسجاکمتااکنر ایک رکےت ےھت اگ ہکاسمنہج یک जफ कब ब व ह ग कक उसस तनकर ज ए त उस भ र ट ददए ज ए ग औय उनस कह ज एग, " ख उस आग क म तन क भज, क जस त भ झ ठ सभझत थ " kullamā ʾarādū ʾan yakhrujū minhā ʾuʿīdū fīhā wa-qīla lahum dhūqū ʿadhāba n- nāri lladhī kuntum bihī tukadhdhibūna

28 و و ل و ش ك م م م ن ال ػ ش اب ل ػ ل د ه ا ل د ون ال ص ج ػ ن ٢١ ه ب ػ ش اب ا ل ص We shall surely make them taste the nearer punishment before the greater punishment, so that they may come back. ن قینا اورمہ برےذعابےس ےلہپ اںیہن ومعمیلذعاباک مرہ اھکچںیئ ےگ ہک شاند راسترپ ٹلپ ا ںیئ ایسرطحراہ हभ फड म तन स इतय उन ह छ ट म तन क भज ख ए ग, कद च त व ऩरट आए wa-la-nudhīqannahum mina l-ʿadhābi l-ʾadnā dūna l-ʿadhābi l-ʾakbari laʿallahum yarjiʿūna

29 غ ص ض غ و ا ا ظل م م م ن ذ ه ص ب ا ات ر ب ي ث م ا إ ه ا م ن ال م ج ص م ن م وت ك م ن ٢٢ و م ن Who is a greater wrongdoer than him who is reminded of his Lord s signs, whereat he disregards them? Indeed We shall take vengeance upon the guilty. اور اسےس براظاملوکں ےہ ےسج ا ناب اهلہ نہ یک ناد دالیئ اجےئاوررھپاسےسارعاضرکےوتمہ نقینا رجمنیم ےسااقتنمےنیل واےل ںیہ औय उस व मक क त स फढकय अत म य क न ह ग क जस उसक यफ क आमत क द व य म द ददर म ज ए,कपय वह उनस भ ह प य र? तनश म ह हभ अऩय चधम स फदर र कय यह ग wa-man ʾaẓlamu mimman dhukkira bi-ʾāyāti rabbihī thumma ʾaʿraḍa ʿanhā ʾinnā mina l-mujrimīna muntaqimūna

31 ا م ا ص ب ص وا و ه اه ا س ون ب ا م ص ه ل ا م و م ا ئ م ة و ج ػ ل و ب ا ات و ا ل و ن ٢٤ And amongst them We appointed imams to guide [the people] by Our command, when they had been patient and had conviction in Our signs. اورمہ ےناںںیم ےس ھچک ولوگں وکاامماوروشیپاقراردنا ےہوجامہرےارمےس ولوگں یک دہابت رکےت ںیہاسےئل ہک انہوں ےنربصایک ےہاورامہرئ ا وتیں رپ نیقی رےتھک ےھت औय जफ व जभ यह औय उन ह हभ य आमत ऩय ववश व स थ, त हभन उनभ ऐस न मक फन ए ज हभ य आद श स भ गग ददख त थ wa-jaʿalnā minhum ʾaʾimmatan yahdūna bi-ʾamrinā lammā ṣabarū wa-kānū bi- ʾāyātinā yūqinūna

32 Sūrat al-sajda إ ن ر ب م ف ص و ب و م م ال ك ام ة ف م ا ه اه ا ف ي ز ت ل ف ن ٢٥ Indeed your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that about which they used to differ. ا ب کشیب اک رپورداگراںےک درایمںرو رایقمتاںامتمناوتں ںیماحنالفرےتھک ےھت اک ہلصیف رکدے اگنجںیم ہی ا سپ तनश म ह त य यफ ह क म भत क ददन उनक फ उन फ त क फ सर कय ग, क जनभ व भतब द कयत यह ह ʾinna rabbaka huwa yafṣilu baynahum yawma l-qiyāmati fī-mā kānū fīhi yakhtalifūna

33 م ه م ا ل ن و ا م ن ل ب ل م م ن ال ك ص ون س ل م ش ن ف م ظ اه و م م ا و ل Does it not dawn upon them how many generations We have destroyed before them, amid [the ruins of] whose dwellings they walk? وتایکاں یک دہابت ےک ےئل ہی اکیف ںیہن ےہ ہک مہ ےناںےس ےلہپ تہب یس وقومں وک رکدنا ےہنجیک ویتسبں ںیم ہی لچ رھپرےہ ںیہ ہالک क म उनक लरए मह ज ब भ गगदशगक लसद ध नह ह ई कक उनस ऩहर ककतन ह नस र क हभ ववनष ट कय क ह, क जनक यहन -फसन क जगह भ व रत -कपयत ह? ʾa-wa-lam yahdi lahum kam ʾahlaknā min qablihim mina l-qurūni yamshūna fī masākinihim

34 ٢٦ م ذ ل إ ن ف ظ م ػ ن ل ات ا ف ل There are indeed signs in that. Will they not then listen? اوراسںیم امہرئ تہب یس نسااینں ںیہوتایک ہی شیئے ںیہن ںیہ तनस स द ह इसभ फह त-स तनश तनम ह कपय क म व स नन नह? ʾinna fī dhālika la-ʾāyātin ʾa-fa-lā yasmaʿūna

35 م ص و ا و ل ظ ق ا ه ا ا ه م اء إ ل ال ج ص ر ض ال ا ل ز ف و ز ص ج ر غ ب ي ا ز Do they not see that We carry water to the parched earth and with it We bring forth crops ایکاںولوگں ےن ہی ںیہن داھکی ےہ ہک مہ ےک درہعی خینل دیماں یکرطفاہبےل اجےت ںیہاوراس ناین وک رراعت دیپا رکےت ںیہ क म उन ह न द ख नह कक हभ स ख ऩड ब लभ क ओय ऩ न र ज त ह कपय उसस ख त उग त ह, ʾa-wa-lam yaraw ʾannā nasūqu l-māʾa ʾilā l-ʾarḍi l-juruzi fa-nukhriju bihī zarʿan

36 ب ص ص ون ٢٧ ػ ام م و ا ف ل م و ي ا ه ظ م ا هف ت ا هو of which they eat, themselves and their cattle? Will they not then see? ےسج ہیوخ یھبد اھکےت ںیہاور اںےک اجونر یھب اھکےت ںیہوتایک ہی دےتھکی ںیہن ںیہ क जसभ स उनक ऩ ए ब ख त ह औय व स वम ब? त क म उन ह स झत नह? taʾkulu minhu ʾanʿāmuhum wa-ʾanfusuhum ʾa-fa-lā yubṣirūna

37 ش ا م ت و ك ل ن ت ح ف وت م ص إ ن ه اد ل ن ٢٨ ال And they say, When will this judgement be, should you be truthful? اورہی ولگ ےتہک ںیہ ہکا رخو حتفاکہ ارگ اگ ا ےئ دںبک ا ب ولگ ےچس ںیہ व कहत ह कक "मह फ सर कफ ह ग, मदद त भ सच ह?" wa-yaqūlūna matā hādhā l-fatḥu ʾin kuntum ṣādiqīna

38 م و ل م ش ن ه ف ص وا إ م اه م ال ف ح ت ل وف ع ال لو وظ ص ون ٢٩ Say, On the day of judgement their [newly found] faith shall not avail the faithless, nor will they be granted any respite. وتہہک دےئجی ہکحتفےکدںرھپ رفک اایتخر رکےن واولں اک اامیں یہ دئ اجےئ یگ اکم ںیہن ا ےئ اگاورہن اںیہن تلہم कह द कक "फ सर क ददन इनक य कयन व र क ईभ न उनक लरए क छ र बद मक न ह ग औय न उन ह ठ र ह द ज एग " qul yawma l-fatḥi lā yanfaʿu lladhīna kafarū ʾīmānuhum wa-lā hum yunẓarūna

39 غ ص ض غ و م و اهت ف ا ظ ص إ ه م م وت ظ ص ون ٣٠ So turn away from them, and wait. They too are waiting. ذہلا ا باںےس انکرہ شک رںیہاور وقتاکااظتنررکںی ہک ہی یھبااظتنررکےن واےل ںیہ अच छ, उन ह उनक ह र ऩय छ ड द औय प रत कय व ब ऩय यत ह fa-ʾaʿriḍ ʿanhum wa-ntaẓir ʾinnahum muntaẓirūna

40 ( دمحمرپ السجدة سورة ص م لل ا س م د م ل ا و س م د م ل غ و O' Allāh send Your blessings on Muhammad and the family of Muhammad. ل(ع وا دمحم فرام!رحمت اےاهلل ऐ अल र ह भ हम भद औय आर भ हम भद ऩय अऩन सर भत यऽ allahumma salli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin
