2 Merits of This is a Medinan sūrah. The surah that calls the Day of Judgement the day of DISPOSSESSION. For those who abandon faith and choose to disbelieve shall lose Paradise and be thrown into Hellfire, cheated forever from felicity by their own souls and their leaders. Those who believe, however, shall gain Paradise against all the attempts of the unbelievers to distract them in the world from faith and goodness, guided away from Hellfire by God and His messengers. It takes its name from they day of dispossession (yawm al-taghābun) mentioned in verse 9. The surah opens with a description of God s power, wisdom, and knowledge (verse 1). The disbelievers are reminded of the end of those who disbelieved before them (verse 5), and their denial of the Resurrection is strongly refuted (verse 7). The believers are urged to be wary but forgiving of the enemies they may have within their own families (verse 14) and warned to remain steadfast and to spend in God s cause (verse 8 and verse 16). It is narrated from the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) that the person who recites this surah will be safe at the time of his death. Imam Ja far as-sadiq (a.s.) has said that if a person recites this surah in the faraa idh (compulsory prayers) then on the Day of Judgement this surah itself will intercede on his behalf until he is allowed to enter Jannah. It is also narrated that one who recites this surah will be protected from the tyranny of the rulers.

To Him belongs all sovereignty and to Him belongs all praise, and He has power over all things. روا ہے دمخ ےئل اصی کے اور ملک ےہ ےئل کی ثشبیح کررہا ےہ کہ اصی کے خدا اصمان کا ہر ذرہ و زمین ہے وا ل رکھےن لدرت وہی ہر ظے پر अल र ह क तसफ ह कय यह ह हय वह च ज ज आक श भ ह औय ज धयत भ ह उस क फ दश ह ह औय उस क लरए प रश स ह औय उस हय च ज क स भर थमय प र प त ह yusabbiḥu li-llāhi mā fī s-samāwāti wa-mā fī l-ʾarḍi lahu l-mulku wa-lahu l- ḥamdu wa-huwa ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīrun

Then some of you are faithless and some of you are faithful, and Allah sees best what you do. ےه اصی صب ثم مث ک پیدا کیا ےہ پھر ہیں م من میں صے کچھ دیکھ رہا ےہ خ ب ک اور اغمال هللا ثمہارے اور کچھ کافر वह ह जजसन तझम ह ऩ द ककम, कपय तझभभ स क ई त इनक य कयन व र ह औय तझभभ स क ई ईभ नव र ह, औय तझभ ज कझ छ ब कयत ह अल र ह उस द ख यह ह त ह huwa lladhī khalaqakum fa-minkum kāfirun wa-minkum muʾminun wa-llāhu bimā taʿmalūna baṣīrun

7 خ ا ف م ه ر ص و ق د ال ب ض ر ا ل و ات او م الش ق ل خ ر ص م ال ي ل إ و م ه ٣ ر ص ن ش He created the heavens and the earth with reason, and He formed you and perfected your forms, and toward Him is the destination. ےه اصی و اصمان نشخ ک بھی اهجہائی ص رت ثمہاری اور کے صاثھ پیدا کیا ےہ خق زمین ک کی بازگطت بھی ےہ صب طرؼ پھر اصی کی اور بوایا ےہ उसन आक श औय धयत क ह क स थ ऩ द ककम औय तझम ह य र ऩ फन म, त फहझत ह अच छ फन ए तझम ह य र ऩ औय उस क ओय अन तत ज न ह khalaqa s-samāwāti wa-l-ʾarḍa bi-l-ḥaqqi wa-ṣawwarakum fa-ʾaḥsana ṣuwarakum wa-ʾilayhi l-maṣīru

8 م ل م ػ م م ل ػ و ض ر ا ل و ات او م الش ف ا ون ر ش ث ا م و ي الل ػ و ن و ل ػ ث ا ٤ ور د الص ات ذ ب م ل غ He knows whatever there is in the heavens and the earth, and He knows whatever you hide and whatever you disclose, and Allah knows best what is in the breasts. ای ہ ےث اظہار کر ثم کا جن ےہ جاهجا چیزوں ک ثمام ان اور اصمان کی ہر ظے صے باخبر ےہ و وہ زمین وہ صیو ں کے رازوں صے بھی باخبر ےہ اور چھپاثے ہ ثم جوہیں वह ज नत ह ज कझ छ आक श औय धयत भ ह औय उस ब ज नत ह ज कझ छ तझभ छछऩ त ह औय ज कझ छ तझभ प रकट कयत ह अल र ह त स न भ छछऩ फ त तक क ज नत ह yaʿlamu mā fī s-samāwāti wa-l-ʾarḍi wa-yaʿlamu mā tusirrūna wa-mā tuʿlinūna wa-llāhu ʿalīmun bi-dhāti ṣ-ṣudūri

9 ل ا ل ن م وا ر ف هػ ن ذ ال ا ب ه م ن ث ا م م ل ا اب ذ غ م ل و م ر م ا ب ال و ال ا ذ ف و ب ٥ Has there not come to you the account of those who were faithless before? 10 ال ا ك ف ات و ب ال ب م ل ص ر م ث ا ث ت هاه ي ه ا ب ا ل ث و وا ر ف نػ ف ا و وه د ر ب ط ا م ل ذ That was because their apostles used to bring them manifest proofs, but they said, Shall humans be our guides?! So they disbelieved and turned away اس یہ لےئ کہ ان کہہ دیا کہ کیا صاؼ ےه اهہ ں ث اثے ثھے کر ےل ھلی ہ ئی هطاهیاں ک رص ل کے پاس موہ پھیر لیا اور یہ کہہ کر اهکار کردیا اور ہماری ہدایت کرے گا بطر मह इस क यण कक उनक ऩ स उनक यस र स ऩष ट प रभ ण र कय आत यह, ककन तझ उन ह न कह, "क म भनझष म हभ भ गय ददख ए ग?" इस प रक य उन ह न इनक य ककम औय भझ ह प य लरम, dhālika bi-ʾannahū kānat taʾtīhim rusuluhum bi-l-bayyināti fa-qālū ʾa-basharun yahdūnanā fa-kafarū wa-tawallaw

11 و اص ج غ و الل ػي و الل ػي غ و خ م د ٦ and Allah was in no need [of their faith]and Allah is allsufficient, all-laudable. ث خدا بھی ان صے ےب وہ لاب و اور هیاز ےہ ثػریف غوی ےہ तफ अल र ह ब उनस फ ऩयव ह ह गम अल र ह त ह ह छनस ऩ ह, अऩन आऩ भ स वम प रश लसत wa-staghnā llāhu wa-llāhu ghaniyyun ḥamīdun

12 م غ ز ث ا ػ ب ن ل ان وا ر ف هػ ن ذ ال The faithless claim that they will not be resurrected. ان ر کا خیال یہ ےہ کہ اهہیں دوبارہ هہیں اٹھایا جائے گا کػفا जजन र ग न इनक य ककम उन ह न द व ककम व भयन क ऩश च त कद पऩ न उठ ए ज ए ग zaʿama lladhīna kafarū ʾan lan yubʿathū

13 ب ل ر و م ج ل م غ ا م ب ن ؤ ب و ج ل م ث ن ث ػ ب ل ج ب ر ػي ٧ ش الل ل غ ذ و ل م لو Say, Yes, by my Lord, you will surely be resurrected; then you will surely be informed of what you did, and that is easy for Allah. هے ث پھر بجایا جائے گا کہ اور ثمہیں دوبارہ زهدہ کیا جائے گا لشم کہہ دیجےئ کہ میرے پروردگار کی ےہ اصان بہت ےئل کے خدا یہ کام اور کیا کیا, کیا ےہ ثم कह द, "क म नह, भ य यफ क सभ! तझभ अवश म उठ ए ज ओग, कपय ज कझ छ तझभन ककम ह उसस तझम ह अवगत कय ददम ज एग औय अल र ह क लरए मह अत मन त सयर ह " qul balā wa-rabbī la-tubʿathunna thumma la-tunabbaʾunna bi-mā ʿamiltum wadhālika ʿalā llāhi yasīrun

14 ا م ب ػي الل و ا و هز ل ا ذ ي ال ر الو و ي ل ص ر و ػي الل ب ا و م ا ف ٨ ر ب خ ن ل م ث ػ So have faith in Allah and His Apostle and the light which We have sent down, and Allah is well aware of what you do. ےه اؤ جشے ہم باخبر ےہ ه ر اس اور رص ل اور خدا لہذا ےل پر ایمان کیا ےہ کہ هللا ثمہارے هازل خ ب صے اغمال अत ईभ न र ओ, अल र ह ऩय औय उसक यस र ऩय औय उस प रक श ऩय जजस हभन अवतरयत ककम ह तझभ ज कझ छ ब कयत ह अल र ह उसक ऩ य ऽफय यखत ह fa-ʾāminū bi-llāhi wa-rasūlihī wa-n-nūri lladhī ʾanzalnā wa-llāhu bi-mā taʿmalūna khabīrun

15 ع م ج ل ذ ال م ل م ػ و ػي الل ب ن م م ن ػ م ج م ؤ اب غ الج م م ا د ال ص ن م و ن و The day when He will gather you for the Day of Gathering, that will be a day of dispossession. And whoever has faith in Allah and acts righteously, صب ثم دن وہ لیامت کے هللا پر ایمان رکھے گا ج اور ہ گا دن وہی ہارجیت کا اور کرے گا جمع ک کرے گا اغمال هیک اور इकट ठ ह न क ददन वह तझम ह इकट ठ कय ग, वह ऩयस ऩय र ब-ह छन क ददन ह ग ज ब अल र ह ऩय ईभ न र ए औय अच छ कभय कय yawma yajmaʿukum li-yawmi l-jamʿi dhālika yawmu t-taghābuni wa-man yuʾmin bi-llāhi wa-yaʿmal ṣāliḥan

16 ا ج د ث ن م ر ي ج ث ات و ج ي ل خ د و ي ث ئ ص ي و غ ٩ م ظ ػ ال ز ال ف م ل ذ ا ب د ا ا ف ن د ال خ ر ف نػ ار ه ا ل He shall absolve him of his misdeeds and admit him into gardens with streams running in them, to remain in them forever. That is the great success. اس خدا کے هیچے هہریں جاری جن کرے گا داخو میں باغات ان اصے اور کردے گا دور کی برائی ں ک صے بڑی کامیابی ےہ صب یہی اور ہی میں ہمیطہ ہمیطہ رہیں گے ان ہ ں گی وہ उसक फझय ईम अल र ह उसस द य कय द ग औय उस ऐस फ भ द खऽर कय ग जजनक न च नहय फह यह ह ग, उनभ व सद व यह ग मह फड सपरत ह yukaffir ʿanhu sayyiʾātihī wa-yudkhilhu jannātin tajrī min taḥtihā l-ʾanhāru khālidīna fīhā ʾabadan dhālika l-fawzu l-ʿaẓīmu

17 الو اب د ص م ػ ئ ا و اث ا ب ا ب ا اول هذ و وا ر ف هػ ن ال ذ و ١٠ ر ص م ال س ئ ب و ا ف ن د ال خ ر ا But as for those who are faithless and deny Our signs, they shall be the inmates of the Fire, to remain in it [forever],and it is an evil destination. وہیں ہمیطہ جن اور ےه ل گ ں م ہیں جہو اصداب ایات ک جھٹالیا وہ ہماری اور ایک رایجخا رفػک ہے اهجام کا بدثرین ان یہ اور رہےن والے ہیں اور यह व र ग जजन ह न इनक य ककम औय हभ य आमत क झझठर म, वह आगव र ह जजसभ व सद व यह ग अन तत र टकय ऩहझ चन क वह फहझत ह फझय जगह ह wa-lladhīna kafarū wa-kadhdhabū bi-ʾāyātinā ʾulāʾika ʾaṣḥābu n-nāri khālidīna fīhā wa-biʾsa l-maṣīru

18 ػي الل ن ذ إ ب ل إ ة ب ص م ن م اب ص ن م ؤ ن م و ا ا م م ل غ ء ظ و ن ب ػي الل و ي ب ١١ لل د الل ػي ب No affliction visits [anyone] except by Allah s leave. Whoever has faith in Allah, He guides his heart, and Allah has knowledge of all things. ک ئی مصیبت سا خدا ایمان ہ ثا ےہ ب صاخ ج اور صے اجازت کی خدا هہیں ہ ثی ےہ مگر هازل ہے وا ل جاهےن خ ب ہر ظے کا خدا اور کی ہدایت کردیجا ےہ دل کے अल र ह क अनझ क बफन क ई ब भझस फत नह आत ज अल र ह ऩय ईभ न र आए अल र ह उसक ददर क भ गय ददख त ह, औय अल र ह हय च ज क बर -ब छत ज नत ह mā ʾaṣāba min muṣībatin ʾillā bi-ʾidhni llāhi wa-man yuʾmin bi-llāhi yahdi qalbahū wa-llāhu bi-kulli shayʾin ʿalīmun

19 م ج ل ث ن إ ف ل ص الر ا ػ ط ا و ػي الل ا ػ ط ا و ١٢ ن ب م ال غ ال ال ب ا و ل ص ر ل غ ا م ه إ ف Obey Allah and obey the Apostle; but if you turn away, then Our Apostle s duty is only to communicate in clear terms. کی ذمہ کرو گے اهدراؼ کرو پھر اگر اطاغت کی رص ل اور کرو اطاغت کی خدا ل گ ثم اور پر پیغام پہچادیےن کے غالوہ کچھ هہیں ےہ ط ر واطح داری رص ل ث अल र ह क आ क ऩ रन कय औय यस र क आ क ऩ रन कय, ककन तझ मदद तझभ भझ ह भ डत ह त हभ य यस र ऩय फस स ऩष ट र ऩ स (स द श) ऩहझ च द न क जज म भ द य ह wa-ʾaṭīʿū llāha wa-ʾaṭīʿū r-rasūla fa-ʾin tawallaytum fa-ʾinnamā ʿalā rasūlinā l- balāghu l-mubīnu

20 ل الل ػي ي ل ػ إ ج فل ػي الل ل غ و ن و م ؤ م ال و ه ل إ ١٣ Allah there is no god except Him in Allah let all the faithful put their trust. اللر سج ہی وہ ےہ خدا کے غالوہ ک ئی هہیں ےہ ایمان ک اصی پر بھروصہ کرها چاہےئ ن صاخبا ثمام اور अल र ह वह ह जजसक लसव क ई ऩ ज म-प रबझ नह अत अल र ह ह ऩय ईभ नव र क बय स कयन च दहए allāhu lā ʾilāha ʾillā huwa wa-ʿalā llāhi fa-l-yatawakkali l-muʾminūna

21 و م ا ن ذ ال ا و م ن اج و ز ا ن م ن إ ا م و ر ذ اخ ف م ل ن و د غ م ه د ل و ا ا ا ا O you who have faith! Indeed among your spouses and children you have enemies; so beware of them. اور - ثمہا---ری بی ی ں وال ایمان میں صے او لد ثمہاری ہ ظیار رہ بػض ثمہارے دظمن ہیں لہذا صے ان ऐ ईभ न र न व र, तझम ह य ऩजत नम औय तझम ह य सन त न भ स कझ छ ऐस ब ह ज तझम ह य शत रझ ह अत उनस ह लशम य यह yā-ʾayyuhā lladhīna ʾāmanū ʾinna min ʾazwājikum wa-ʾawlādikum ʿaduwwan lakum fa-ḥdharūhum

22 و إ ن ر ر غ ر وا ف إ ن الل ػي غف ث ػ ف ا و ث ص ف د ا و ث ف خ م ١٤ And if you excuse, forbear and forgive, then Allah is indeed all-forgiving, all-merciful. اور اگر اهہیں مػاؼ کردو اور ان صے درگزر کرو اور اهہیں مہربان ےہ بخض دو ث هللا بھی بہت بخطےن وا ل اور औय मदद तझभ भ फ कय द औय ट र ज ओ औय भ कय द छनश चम ह अल र ह फड भ श र, अत मन त दम व न ह wa-ʾin taʿfū wa-taṣfaḥū wa-taghfirū fa-ʾinna llāha ghafūrun raḥīmun

23 م ا ا ه م إ و م ن ال ر ج ا ى ود غ ػي الل و ة و ج ف م ه د ل و ا ١٥ م ظ غ Rather your possessions and children are a trial, and Allah with Him is a great reward! اور ام ال ثمہارے ےئل ثمہارے او لد ثمہاری کا ذریػہ ہیں امجدان صرؼ پاس ےہ هللا کے صرؼ غظیم اجر اور तझम ह य भ र औय तझम ह य सन त न त क वर एक आज भ इश ह, औय अल र ह ह ह जजसक ऩ स फड प रछतद न ह ʾinnamā ʾamwālukum wa-ʾawlādukum fitnatun wa-llāhu ʿindahū ʾajrun ʿaẓīmun

24 م ػي الل ا ك اث ف ك ا هف ا و ا ػ ط ا و ا ػ م اص و م ج ػ ط ج اص ا م ن هف ش ل ر ا خ So be wary of Allah, as far as you can, and listen and obey,and spend [in the way of Allah];that is better for yourselves. میں خرچ کرو کث لہذا جہاں ادخ راس اور کرو اطاغت اور صو بات کی اس اور ممکن ہ هللا صے ڈرو خیر ےہ ےئل میں ثمہارے اس کہ अत जह तक तझम ह य फस भ ह अल र ह क डय यख औय सझन औय आ ऩ रन कय औय ऽचय कय अऩन बर ई क लरए fa-ttaqū llāha mā staṭaʿtum wa-smaʿū wa-ʾaṭīʿū wa-ʾanfiqū khayran li- ʾanfusikum

25 ؽ ظ ح ن و م ػ ئ ه ف ش ي م ال م م ف اول ف ل د ن ١٦ Those who are saved from their own greed it is they who are the felicitous. اور ج اپےن ہی بخو صے کے هفس مدف ظ ہ جائے وہی ل گ فالح اور هجات پاهے والے ہیں औय ज अऩन भन क र ब एव क ऩणत स सझयक ष त यह त ऐस ह र ग सपर ह wa-man yūqa shuḥḥa nafsihī fa-ʾulāʾika humu l-mufliḥūna

26 إ ن ث ك ر ط ا الل ػي ل ر ط ا خ ش و ا ظ اغ ف ي ل ن م و غ ف ر ر خ ل م ػي ظ ن ١٧ ل ن م و الل If you lend Allah a good loan, He shall multiply it for you and forgive you, and Allah is all-appreciative, all-forbearing, اگر ثم هللا ک لرض خشوہ دو گے ث وہ اصے دوگوا بوادے گا اور ثمہیں مػاؼ بھی کردے گا کہ وہ بڑا لدر داں اور برداظت کر هے وا ل ےہ मदद तझभ अल र ह क अच छ ऋण द त वह उस तझम ह य लरए कई गझन फढ द ग औय तझम ह भ कय द ग अल र ह फड गझणग र हक औय सहनश र ह, ʾin tuqriḍū llāha qarḍan ḥasanan yuḍāʿifhu lakum wa-yaghfir lakum wa-llāhu shakūrun ḥalīmun

27 غ ال م ال غ ب و الط اد ة ال ػ ز ز ال د ن م ١٨ Knower of the sensible and the Unseen, the All-mighty, the All-wise. وہ خاطر و غائب کا جاهےن وا ل اور صاخب ػزت و خکمت ےہ ऩय औय प रत म क ज नत ह, प रबझत वश र, तत वदश ह ʿālimu l-ghaybi wa-ṣ-ṣahādati l-ʿazīzu l-ḥakīmu
