4 Mt. Olive Recreation is hosting an American Red Cross course Lifeguard Training, including the Waterfront module and CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid. Classes will be held at the Mt. Olive Municipal Building and Budd Lake Municipal Beach. New students must attend all classes, lifeguards who are re-certifying should call Recreation for an amended schedule. Students will be using ebooks for this class. Students will learn how to download the book during the first class. This means the student will need a device that can download the e-book: (PC, Mac, smartphone, tablet, e-reader). Bring proof of age to the first class. Wet suits are recommended for the water sessions. Please bring snacks and water for our long days. Class Schedule: Inclement weather may affect class schedule at the beach. Sat 5/24, Sun 5/25 9am -2pm Municipal Building Cafeteria & Council Chambers 6/10, 12,13 4pm-7pm Budd Lake Municipal Beach (Prerequisite swim skills test, for all participants) Rain make-ups will be determined by instructor when needed. Continuous Swim a total of 550 yards (22 laps in a standard pool or approximately 1/3 mi.), including 200 yards of Front crawl, 200 yards of Breaststroke, 150 yards more of either stroke, Swim 20 yards and surface dive 7-10 feet retrieve a 10lb diving brick and swim with it 20 yards to starting point in 1 min. 45 seconds or less.
