2 ABOUT US Cardiff and Vale County Schoolboys Football is an organisation run by teachers and supported by primary and secondary schools in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. Boys recommended by their schools are chosen, via trials, to join these teams. Boys selected for our County teams at trials will have the opportunity to represent both his school and his county in competitions against other counties in Wales. Opportunities arise for boys playing in our teams to be recommended for the South Wales and the National Squads because games are watched by the national selectors. Additionally, games are frequently visited by Premier League scouts and several old boys have signed for Premier League clubs! A WORD FROM MATHEW. Welcome to 2011 and the main run in when all league games are played and league positions determined. We look forward to the forthcoming fixtures in the next few months and we are full of belief that we can carry on our excellent start and work our way towards top spot in the league. We welcome Carmarthenshire Schools today and we hope all parents and players are well and enjoyed the Christmas and New Year holiday despite the appalling weather. Carmarthenshire bring a strong squad and I m sure they will test us. Our lads will need to be on top of their game as they were in the previous match to ensure we get a positive result. 3 WELSH SCHOOLS FA Schools football has been the bedrock of player participation and development for countless years. The Welsh Football Trust has recognised the importance of this by forming a strong partnership with the governing body for schools football, the Welsh Schools Football Association, to offer financial and professional support for the activities it undertakes, including most importantly, the National teams and Development squads. We also offer schools throughout Wales a programme of support to attract the interest of young players to the game and assist teachers in establishing football in the curriculum, as well as after school clubs and festivals for pupils to play competitive games. This hopefully will lead them to further their interest and play on a more regular basis by joining a local junior club. Through the qualified teachers in our schools the WSFA aims to provide football for boys and girls aged four to eighteen via the curriculum and on a voluntary basis with after school activities.

The inaugural Mark Owen Memorial Trophy The fixture is played yearly and in memory of Mark Owen who was a very talented young player who played for Carmarthen Academy and Dyfed and Carmarthen Schools.

Mark was tragically killed in a road traffic accident which ended what promised to be an exciting career in the world of football.

He held the Young Player of the Year jointly with ex Welsh International and Premiership player Mark Delaney. Mark was tragically killed in a road traffic accident which ended what promised to be an exciting career in the world of football. At the point in time Mark was a good friend with Mathew Davies and this fixture is one that Mathew looks forward to every season, with this being no exception! 6 Match Report 16 th December 2010 Away V Carmarthenshire Score: Win 7-1 Scorers: Dan Raymond 2, Elijah Chilekwa 2 Regan Poole 2, Jacob Scott Man of the match: Regan Poole On a cold Thursday night before the snow came, the lads attacked Carmarthenshire from the first whistle. The early goal from Dan Raymond proved to be a catalyst for a barrage of attacks producing 6 goals with a stunning long distance strike from Man of the match Regan Poole. At half time CVC made all 5 substitutes which slightly disrupted the flowing football from the 1 st half. Carmarthenshire came out after half time and played with a lot more shape and solidity making it hard for the new subs to settle into the game. This bore fruit and Carmarthenshire scored a well deserved goal. As the half progressed CVC settled into a more familiar formation and Jacob Scott tucked a goal away to level the half before it was brought to an early end by the referee. It was agreed by all coaches and parents that the 1 st half performance was the best we have seen any of our age groups play and credit has to be given to Carmarthenshire who continued to make life difficult for our lads. Regan Poole put in a match winning performance covering a lot of ground in the centre of midfield as well as getting into scoring positions on 2 opportunities.

Conor is deceptively strong and is the powerhouse at the back of the team. Enjoys driving forward from the back to set up attacking play. Richard is a great centreback. Keeps it simple and uses his strength and height to great effect. Rarely gets beaten at the back and enjoys the physical challenge.
