CHS Athle cs Sport news Central Schools Lawn Bowls On Monday Max, Dominic, Angus, Lachie, Michelle, Brock and Jacob (right) competed against Trundle and Tullamore in the Central Schools Lawn Bowls cluster day at Tullamore. Each school entered two teams in the compeon playing five games each. A er five rounds the senior team of Michelle, Brock and Jacob placed first. They will now compete at the State Central Schools Lawn Bowls Championships in August. Well done to both teams. State PSSA Rugby League Congratula ons to Digby who competed at the State PSSA Rugby League Championships at Mudgee last week. Digby played many games as part of the Western team and had a great week (see report on next page)

7 Congratula ons to Digby Lees of To enham Central School who competed as a part of the Western team in the NSW PSSA Opens Rugby League carnival, held June at Glen Willow Stadium in Mudgee. The carnival included 13 Regional teams from all of NSW including Public, Catholic and Independent School systems. The Western team lead by coach Mr Ben Smith of Parkes Public School, acqui ed themselves tremendously well over the 3 days, growing in confidence and cohesion each game, impressing coaches, parents and spectators with their steely defence, determina on and commitment to their teammates. Over the 3 days the team had wins over Riverina and North West, a draw against Sydney South West and close loses against Sydney North, Sydney East and eventual tournament winners, Sydney West, placing the Western team 9th of the 13 teams. NSW selectors had named two of the Western team to be included in the NSW squad, including Bailey Peschka from Molong and Angus Clues from Lithgow. An unfortunate fracture of the arm late in the tournament excluding Angus from the squad. In the all of the games Digby worked hard and showed a posi ve a tude in each and every game and should be commended and congratulated on his efforts throughout the carnival. Thanks and congratula ons should also got to all of the parents who not only took me from work and arranged for transport, but also cheered and supported the team each game, adding to the good nature of the carnival. With the calibre of the kids in this year s Western Open team, rugby league and school sports, look in good shape for the future. Sydney West hosts next year s Open League carnival in St Marys, so right now all boys and girls who love playing rugby league should be encouraged to ensure they nominate for their school team and trial in Our week in pictures Cam Munro, General Manager, Egelabra Merino Stud talking to our Stage 5 Ag. students about nutri on, fleece quality, handling, visual appraisal and junior judging techniques.
