Counseling Tip: 10 Ways to Help Your Child Succeed in School (no matter their age): After researching several online sources, here are several helpful suggestions to help you child succeed. 1. Encourage your child to read. It is the single most important thing that you can do to help your child succeed in life. 2. Teach your child that learning is their job. 3. Let them figure things out on their own. 4. Support your child in doing their homework each night. Provide an appropriate environment for learning. Set a regular time for homework. Do not expect or demand perfection. 5. Do not talk negatively about your child s teachers or about the school. 6. Make sure you child is getting plenty of sleep and is ready for school each day. 7. Hold your child responsible for their actions and their school work. 8. Stay involved and contact your child s teachers with any questions or concerns. 9. Ask your child about school every day and encourage them to discuss their day. 10. Be positive! Your attitude about school, homework, teachers, etc. will make all the difference! Fill out the Scrip order form (found on the Scrip page on the UA website) 2. Attach payment to form and send with your child or drop off at either campus. 3. If cards are available immediately, they will be given to you that day or the next. If cards need to be ordered, they will be available by the end of the week.
