1 Monthly Newsletter of Olivedale Senior Center The Oak Leaf July 2011 Volume 39,, Issue 7 Stars were in the eyes of every viewer who perused the elegant and sophisticated art displayed at Olivedale s annual art show. And our many members presenting more talent utilizing various mediums. Stripes of color throughout. On quilt fabric, crocheted clothing, paintings, photographs and in glass and ceramics. Forever remembered are the impressions captured in the many woodcarvings enjoyed by all. Thanks to Mariam Stampfle for sharing her painting forte with Olivedale. Art is a gift that must be shared. Our mighty oak - a dear friend who weathered many storms but remained steadfast for over 500 years. Standing tall and proud, guarding through the night and shading through the sun and heat. What will become of her? Olivedale Park s oak tree will continue to give as her trunk will open up to a new start of her own seed. Her limbs will make way for mementoes formed from her wood by the talented Olivedale woodcarvers. These mementoes will then be sold piece by piece to all who want to purchase a small part of Lancaster history and the tree will continue to give to Olivedale, Friends of the Parks and the Charlie s Chippers.
