4 Page 4 The Oak Leaf March 2013 Classes And More Ballroom Dance - West Coast Swing Coast into a smoother style of cool swing with a trip to the gentler relaxed stroll of the West Coast Swing. This dance is a partner dance with roots to the Lindy Hop. An interesting fact in the evolution of West Coast Swing is that it was once considered a man s dance, meaning that the follower (female) had no say in the presentation of the dance. Her job was simple; to follow (and be thrown around in various directions). Today - reflecting the attitudes of the moral and social codes of the day, West Coast Swing is a 50/50 presentation. SHE is as responsible for the partnership as he is. Swing is no longer a Me Tarzan You Jane world. Instructor Stan will assure that you can dance this neither, difficult or complicated dance any where or with anyone. Classes are held every Friday at 1:00pm at Olivedale and is $5 per lesson, payable at the office before class. No partner required. Basket Class Carolina-style Easter Basket The March project is a Carolina-style Easter Basket. The basket held upside down looks like an Easter bonnet. The base of the basket is 7-1/2" diameter which flares to approximately 12" at the top by 7" deep. Handle depth is 14-1/2". The class will be held on Monday, March 11, starting at 9:00 am. Cost is $34 due on class day, but you must reserve your place by Friday, March 8. Please call in advance if you need to cancel so you will not be charged for the prepared materials. Class is limited to 10 participants. Card Making Class Come and learn to make 3 different handmade cards using rubber stamps. There is nothing more gratifying than sending your friend or loved one a handmade card that you made yourself. Because we ve had such a good response we ve added another class. You may attend either on Tuesday, March 5 or Tuesday, March 19 at 2:00pm. All Supplies are furnished. Signup at the office by the Friday before the class - either Friday, March 1 or Friday, March 15. $6 is due on class day. Please call the office in advance if you need to cancel. He becomes an overnight sensation when he discovers an exotic plant with a mysterious craving for fresh blood. Soon Audrey II (his plant) grows into an ill-tempered, R&B-singing carnivore who offers him fame and fortune in exchange for feeding its growing appetite.
