Many factors can affect blood pressure, including: Amount of water and salt in the body Condition of kidneys, nervous system, or blood vessels Existing medical conditions, and/or medications Normal blood pressure is lower than 120/80 High blood pressure (hypertension) is 140/90 Blood pressure between 120/80 and 140/90 is called prehypertension. Hyper-tension can cause damage to arteries, eyes, heart, brain, and kidneys. Get your blood pressure checked regularly. It has serious health complications if left unchecked. Blood pressure can be checked at Olivedale on Tuesdays between 9:00a and 11:00a, downstairs in the Oak Room. You may use the automatic blood pressure cuff in the aerobic room at anytime during business hours.
