We have had a spirit week and PBIS lessons all week leading up to a school-wide video. Today we

2 did a practice video and the kids did a great job! The theme of this years video is superheros! We are trying to get kids thinking about how they can be superheros at LKMS! Please remember that Monday is NEON DAY and we are filming! Wear your bright colors! Girls Who Code Summer Immersion Program The application is open until Thursday, February 12th at 11:59 PM EST. Dear Friends of Girls Who Code, Great news: there's still time to submit an application for our 2015 Summer Immersion Program in Washington, DC! The Girls Who Code Summer Immersion Program is comprised of seven weeks of intensive instruction in robotics, web design, and mobile development with engaging, career-focused mentorship and exposure led by the industry's top female entrepreneurs and engineers. Our programs are free to attend, and the application is available now online! Throughout the summer, daily classroom instruction is paired with talks, demos, and workshops led by inspiring female entrepreneurs, CEOs, developers, designers, and computer science majors who serve as mentors and role models throughout the program, each aligned with the subject matter discussed that week. Field trips to the tech giants such as Google, Facebook, Twitter, AT&T, Gilt Groupe, Foursquare, and the News Corp allow the young women to envision a future for themselves in this career and begin networking with those in the field. EMBRACE WELLNESS - MINIMIZE STRESS Date: Wednesday, February 18th (7 pm-8:30 pm) Location: Lime Kiln Middle School Media Center A healthy diet, staying physically active, and getting the proper amount of sleep and rest allows us to better process all that life throws at us. Stress is a barrier to physical, emotional, and mental well-being and creates a toxic environment that can stifle creativity, self-awareness and selfconfidence. Join us on Feb.18th for a presentation by Kara Atkinson, a Board Certified Holistic Health Coach, who will present tips and tools that will help parents, students and staff handle and minimize stress and support their active lives. 3 LimeFest 2015: Food. Friends. Fun! - Saturday, February 21 st, 7:30-10:30 pm at the Columbia Gym, Clarksville, MD. Activities include: Laser Tag, Giant Hamster Balls, DJ, Dancing, Student Bands from Tree House School of Rock, Magic Demonstration, Games, Prizes, Boutique vendors (The Fashnique; jewelry; purses), Nail Salon, Ice Cream Sundae Bar, Swimming (from 8:45-10:15pm bring your swimsuit and a towel), Pizza and Chick Fil-A sandwiches (for purchase) and more (Exercise equipment will NOT be available). Rumor has it that this event was extremely fun in the past and promises to be an event you do not want to miss. Tickets are: $4.00 per person ($5.00 at the door). Tickets will go on sale Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, February 18, 19 & 20 during all lunch periods. All students must be accompanied by an adult. SEEKING VENDORS for LimeFest 2015: The Lime Kiln PTA is seeking vendors for a Boutique that will be part of the Lime Fest 2015 Event on February 21st. Parents and other PTA supporters will sell items such as crafts, jewelry, clothing and artwork. 4 This March, the River Hill High School Theatre Arts Department will proudly present Disney s High School Musical. This live stage rendition of the now iconic 2006 Disney film promises to have the entire audience singing and dancing along. Produced, directed, and choreographed by RHHS Theatre Arts teacher Pam Land, the show is also co-choreographed by RHHS dance teacher Jennifer Hennessie and RHHS alum Becca Gover ( 11). Assisting as student directors are Colleen Clark, Josh Cohen, Brianna Costabile, Thaddeus Harold, Sarah Tossman, and James Via. Joe Blasko, a longtime friend of RHHS Theatre Arts, will direct the construction of the set with assistance from RHHS alumni parents George Stone and Bob Bost. A crew of more than 30 dedicated students led by student stage managers David London and R.J. O Brien will build the set and props and run the show. Helen Hayes Award winner Doug Lawler will direct the vocals and conduct the pit orchestra, and RHHS Director of Bands M. Joseph Fischer will prepare the student orchestra and design the sound. RHHS math teacher Rhonda De La Mar will coordinate costumes with the assistance of a wonderful team of parent volunteers. In this contemporary musical comedy, a popular high school basketball star and a shy, academically gifted newcomer discover they share a secret passion for singing. When they sign up together to audition for the lead roles in the school musical, it threatens East High's rigid social order and sends their peers into an uproar. The cast of more than 70 RHHS students and 13 Howard County middle school students includes Patrick Gover (Troy Bolton), Jake Daly (Chad Danforth), Sam Ehrlich (Zeke Taylor), Carly Hirsh (Sharpay Evans), Kyle McKee (Ryan Evans Kevin Key will understudy and perform on Friday evening), Nikoo Sarraf (Kelsi Nelson Danielle Gover will understudy and perform Friday evening), Sanjay Mysore (Jack Scott Thaddeus Harold will understudy and perform Friday evening), Amanda Yuan (Gabriella Montez Jasmine Tiamfook will understudy and perform Friday evening), Amanda Bachman (Taylor McKessie), Erin Hill (Martha Cox), Josh Tow (Coach Bolton), and Kelly Wruck (Ms. Darbus). Performance dates and ticket information: All performances will be held in the River Hill High School auditorium. The performance dates are March 5, 6, and 7 p.m. and March 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance and $13 at the door.
