The Bulldogs have lost four in a row and 12 of their last 14 after starting the season 9-4, including wins over Houston, Navy, and UC Irvine. Georgia State has participated in ESPN Bracketbusters each season since joining the CAA in The Panthers earned a win at Eastern Michigan in 2009 after a road victory at Jacksonville State in In Barnes first year, the Panthers scored a win over Elon in the Sports Arena. State s first game in Bracketbusters came against former conference rival College of Charleston. The Cougars escaped with an win in Charleston in All 12 CAA teams annually participate in the Bracketbusters weekend. Five CAA teams will be televised over the course of the three-day event on the ESPN family of networks. After using 14 different starting line-ups over the first 21 games, among the most in the nation, head coach Rod Barnes stuck with the same squad for the first four games of February, leading the Panthers to a 3-1 start. Juniors Jihad Ali, Josh Micheaux, Eric Buckner and James Fields, along with freshman Javonte Maynor made up the starting five. Senior Marques Johnson replaced Maynor in the Panthers loss at Old Dominion on Wednesday. TURNING OVER THE CALENDAR After struggling through a tough schedule in January, along with weather conditions that caused the Panthers to miss practice, things are heating up in February both in temperature and in terms of wins for Georgia State. The Panthers are off to a 3-2 start this month, including a pair of wins in overtime. State opened the month with a overtime victory over UNC Wilmington, and followed it with a win at Towson on Feb. 5. After a tough loss to Hofstra, the Panthers rebounded on Saturday with a come-from-behind overtime win over Northeastern. SHOWING MICHEAUX SOME LOVE After batting several injuries and even a stomach bug, junior Josh Micheaux was inserted into the starting line-up to start the month of February and has not disappointed. Through five games this month, Micheaux is averaging team-highs in points (10.6) and rebounds (5.6) and assists (4.0), while being second on the team with nine steals. The junior-college transfer is averaging 28.8 minutes per game over that stretch, third most on the team, while shooting 21-of-41 (51.2%) from the floor. VINCENT THE GREAT Sophomore James Vincent, who has steadily improved during his sophomore season, scored his first career double-double against Old Dominion on Feb. 15. Vincent scored 11 points and added a career-high 11 rebounds, coming off the bench to play 33 minutes, which also set a personal best. The Big Fella shot 4-of-5 from the field and added two blocks and two steals. THE RIGHT LINE-UP Over the course of the first 21 games of the season, head coach Rod Barnes used 14 different starting line-up combinations, which were among the most in the country. However, as the calendar has changed to February, Barnes may have found the right combination. Juniors Jihad Ali, Eric Buckner, James Fields and Josh Micheaux, along with freshman Javonte Maynor started the first four games of the month, as the Panthers are averaged 67.0 points per game, while outrebounding their opponents by more than five per game. Barnes made a small line-up change on Feb. 15 against Old Dominion as senior Marques Johnson started in place of Maynor. MCGEE GOES FOR 31 Junior Brandon McGee scored a career-high 31 points against Northeastern on Feb. 12, the most points scored by a Panther since Thomas Terrell finished with 30 against UCF on Mar. 1, The junior finished with his third double-double of the season, collecting 13 boards as he came off the bench to play 37 minutes. After scoring just eight in the first half, McGee scored 23 points in the second half and overtime to lead the Panthers back from a 17-point first half deficit. McGee recorded double-doubles in back-to-back games earlier this season and has just missed several more. He scored 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the

3 HEAD COACH ROD BARNES Rod Barnes, former Naismith National Coach of the Year, enters his fourth season as the Georgia State University head coach In his first three years in Atlanta, Barnes brought renewed energy and interest to the Georgia State program while laying the groundwork for future success with recruiting and an emphasis on work ethic and fundamentals. The Panthers have performed extremely well in the classroom since Barnes arrival, as all ten seniors who have completed their eligibility have graduated, while an 11th, Marques Johnson, has already graduated entering his senior year. Barnes, who spent eight years as the head coach at Mississippi, is an 18-year veteran of college coaching and was an assistant coach in at Oklahoma. He was honored as the Naismith Coach of the Year as well as Southeastern Conference Coach of the Year in , when he led Ole Miss to its most successful season ever. His squad set a school-record for wins with a 27-8 record, advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 for the only time in school history and achieved a final national ranking of No. 9. A former All-Southeastern Conference player at Ole Miss, Barnes is the only person to earn All-SEC honors as a player and then be named SEC Coach of the Year. Barnes compiled a record in eight seasons at Ole Miss ( ), guiding the Rebels to four postseason bids, including three trips to the NCAA Tournament. Barnes first Ole Miss squad recorded the first NCAA Tournament win in school history with a 1999 first-round victory over Villanova. Two years later, the Rebels picked up NCAA Tournament victories over Iona and Notre Dame to reach the Sweet 16. He also spent five seasons as an assistant coach at Ole Miss under Rob Evans before being elevated to head coach on April 9, In addition to coaching the only three NCAA Tournament victories in school history, Barnes was part of five of the six NCAA appearances in Ole Miss annals as head or assistant coach. A native of Satartia, Miss., and 1988 graduate of Ole Miss, Barnes, 45, began his career as an assistant coach at Livingston for three years before returning to his alma mater in Rod Barnes as a Head Coach Mississippi (NCAA 2nd round) Mississippi (NIT 2nd round) Mississippi (NCAA Sweet 16) Mississippi (NCAA) Mississippi Mississippi Mississippi Mississippi Total, Mississippi Georgia State Georgia State Georgia State Georgia State Total, Georgia State Career Record Panthers win over Florida A&M, before scoring a career-high 23 points and pulling down 10 boards in the Panthers loss to Georgia Southern. He just missed a double-double in State s win over Western Michigan, scoring 16 points and pulling down eight rebounds. He finished with 11 points and eight rebounds off the bench against Delaware on Jan. 22. McGee scored a rare game on the Panthers trip to the Bahamas, scoring 21 points and grabbing 20 rebounds in State s final exhibition game in August. THE UNKIND BUZZER Whether winning or losing, Georgia State has kept it close in nearly every game this season, but shots at the buzzer have been becoming a trend the Panthers would rather not see. GSU led with a 1:10 to play in regulation, but Samford s Andy King hit a game-tying three-pointer with 11 seconds left, and GSU had a game-winning basket waved off for a player control foul with just three seconds left. Redshirt-junior Jihad Ali scored a buzzer-beater to defeat James Madison in the CAA opener, A week after defeating the Dukes, Western Michigan nailed a jumper with less than a second remaining to earn a victory over the Panthers. The drama continued in Wilmington, as the Seahawks hit a threepointer at the buzzer to earn a victory to snap a GSU three-game winning streak. On Jan. 22, the Panthers went to the wire with Delaware, before the Blue Hens hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to earn a victory. The latest drama came on Jan. 26, as leading Old Dominion with just seconds remaining, Frank Hassell hit a jumper in the lane with 6.6 seconds left to give the Monarchs a victory. TWO HALVES IS JUST NOT ENOUGH Georgia State has also gone to overtime five times already this season. After dropping heartbreakers to Samford, Hampton and Georgia Southern, the Panthers have rebounded with a pair of overtime wins in February. State exacted revenge on UNC Wilmington, scoring a victory in the Sports Arena, before earning a win over Northeastern on Feb. 12. The only time the Panthers have played five overtime games in a season came during The Panthers went 1-4 in those games, three of which went to double overtime. THE SERIES WITH LOUISIANA TECH Louisiana Tech leads the all-time series 3-0, but the two squads have not met since the season. That year, the two teams met just five days apart, with the Bulldogs earning a victory in Ruston. The only other meeting came Louisiana Tech 0-3 during the season, a A L Louisiana Tech win, also in Ruston. 12/10/94... His accuracy rate from beyond the arc is.391, which ranks ninth in the conference. Curry knocked down seven three-pointers against UNC Wilmington on Jan. 5, less than a week after hitting seven treys against Chattanooga on Dec. 30. The night before, he hit six against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Before his pair of seven three-point games, the last Panther to hit at least seven in a game was Thomas Terrell during the season against Florida Atlantic. With a team-leading 50 treys on the season, Curry has already exceeded his total for his first two years in a Panther uniform VISION Senior Dante Curry and junior Eric Buckner became the first Panthers under head coach Rod Barnes to each score 20 points in the same game. The duo led the Panthers to the championship of the Dr. Pepper Classic, as Buckner scored 23 points on 10-of-11 shooting and Curry knocked down seven three-pointers to tie his thencareer-high with 21 points. His seven three-pointers were the most since Thomas Terrell knocked down the same against FAU during the season. WHITE GETS THE NOD Freshman Devonta White made his first collegiate start against Florida A&M and led the Panthers to victory. The Alpharetta native score 13 points, just one shy of a career-high, pulling down five rebounds and dishing out three assists in 31 minutes of action. He has now started five games at point guard, leading the Panthers to a 4-1 since taking over the starting spot at point guard, including State s upset victory of VCU on Jan. 3. After missing seven games with a sprained ankle, he returned to the line-up on Feb. 2 against UNC Wilmington. DOBY S DEBUT Freshman Harold Doby made quite an impression in his first game with the Panthers. The Augusta native came off the bench to score 19 points and pull down five rebounds in 30 minutes of action against McNeese State. The 19 points were the most for a GSU freshman in his debut in the last 20 years. He finished the game shooting 7-of-10 from the floor and 5-of-7 from the free throw line.

Pressley, known for having great energy and a strong build, is a super interior defender. ESPN.com listed Pressley with excellent size, big hands and strong legs. He goes for the boards out of his area and is a fine outlet passer. Because of his wing span, he plays much bigger than his 6-8 height. He is very active running the floor and is an excellent offensive rebounder in transition. The site has him listed as No. 42 at his position in the country. MAKING THE GRADE The Georgia State basketball team has excelled in the classroom under head coach Rod Barnes. In Barnes first three seasons, all 10 seniors have graduated, and one of this year s seniors, Marques Johnson, has already earned his degree. Barnes program achieved a record-setting performance last spring, earning its highest ever semester grade point average at 2.96, which raised the team s cumulative GPA to 2.76, also an all-time high under Barnes. The Panthers have posted a GPA of 2.75 or better for four straight semesters. Last season, Jihad Ali became the first Panther to earn a selection to the Colonial Athletic Association All-Academic team. Ali (2008 & 2010), Ousman Krubally (2009), Kevin Lott (2009 & 2010), Trae Goldson (2010), James Fields (2010) and Daniel Brown (2010) have each earned the CAA Commissioner s Academic Award under Barnes. 476 AND COUNTING Georgia State has made at least one three-point field goal in 476 straight games, dating back to the season. The last team to hold the Panthers without a trey was Stetson on Feb. 18, 1995.

6 ON THE DEFENSIVE In each of Rod Barnes first three seasons at the helm, Georgia State has played strong defense, allowing its opponents an average of 64.5 points per game entering the season. This season, the Panthers are holding opponents to about the same at 64.7 points per game. After Barnes first Panther team in allowed 66.2 points per game, GSU improved to 63.6 ppg allowed in an an almost identical 63.7 ppg last season. The previous Georgia State record for fewest points allowed was 68.4 in In fact, before Barnes arrived, the only others seasons in which GSU allowed fewer than 70 points per game came in a three-year stretch from (69.6) through (68.7). HOME SWEET HOME After opening the season on the road, the Panthers played three straight home games, going 2-1 over that stretch. With the win over Florida A&M, the Panthers finished a second three-game homestand with a 2-1 mark and are currently 8-5 in the friendly confines, including two of their last three. State finished 9-5 at home during the season. The win over Troy marked the third straight season the Panthers have won their home opener and are 3-1 in home openers under Barnes. Last year, the Panthers won their first five home games of the year and finished the season winning four of their final six. LET THE CELEBRATION BEGIN Georgia State celebrated a pair of impressive milestones in the history of the men s basketball program during the season. This season marks the 10-year and 20-year anniversary of the two squads that qualified for the NCAA Tournament. Each team, along with all of the men s basketball alums, were honored during the Feb. 12 game against Northeastern. The Panthers became the first GSU men s basketball team to qualify for the NCAA Tournament. After winning the conference championship tournament, the Panthers only had to go a few blocks north to the Omni to face Arkansas.
