2 Welcome! Thank you for picking up our 2019 Spring/Summer Activity Guide. After wrapping up the Riverbank Cheese & Wine Festival, Haunted Hayride, and Christmas Parade and Craft Fair this Fall, we are excited to jump into our Spring/Summer season! Coming up in Riverbank, we are thrilled to kick off our Aquatics programs including Swim Lessons, Aquatics Camp, and our Barracudas Swim Team. Also coming up, look forward to our Summer Camps, Teen Center Trips, and brand new special events. If you or your group are looking for a place to host your next event, our Community Center, Scout Hall, and various outdoor park gazeebos are available for rent. Our Riverbank Community Center is undergoing a remodel! Our tentative date to reopen after construction is April 15, Call us for updates and availability to host your next event. Bring your family and your best superhero attire to Jacob Myers Park for a 5k. Feel free to walk or run! This event is free for military personnel, veterans, and active duty law enforcement, and first responders. June 3rd-7th Ages 9-15 M-F 9 am - 12 pm $100 Riverbank Barracuda Swim Team Tryouts for the Swim Team will be help on Saturday, May 12, 2019 at 10:00 am. Those already on the team do not need to try out again. All swimmers must be able to swim the distance of the pool with a freestyle stroke unassisted and maintain any other skills required by the swim team coach. 1st Child $115 8 Week Session and Additional $100 Saturday Workshops A team suit and swim goggles must be purchased. 7 Swim Lessons are offered in 2 week sessions for 40 minutes each Monday-Thursday. Instructors will test the first day of class to confirm each child s level. Please Note: Registration is required and early registration is highly recommended as classes fill up quickly. There will be a $5 fee for cancellation or transfer once registered. You may receive a refund if you cancel at least 3 days prior to the start of the class. No refunds after the first day of class. One or both parents learn to assist their child in water adjustment with the guidance of an instructor. Swim diapers are required and parent must be in the water. Tiny Tot This course is designed for 3-5 year old children who are ready to swim. This introductory course will help you child feel more comfortable in the water and introduce them to basic water safety. Parents remain out of the water. Class size per instructor: 4 students Beginner Beginner classes are designed to progress from the basics to the advanced levels. A student placed in Level 2 must perform the skills for Level 1. Class size per instructor: 6 students Advanced Beginner These courses are for advanced swimmers to build confidence and stroke refinement. Swimming distances is required for building endurance. Class size per instructor: 8 students. Intermediate - Lifeguard Readiness This class will help prepare swimmers for the lifeguard class. Students must pass Advanced/ Beginner class to register. Sensory Sharks and Mermaids (Geared toward children on the autism spectrum). Please see Therapeutic Recreation section for more information. Private Lessons Private Lessons can be scheduled based on instructor availability. 11 Therapeutic Recreation Scensory Sharks and Mermaids Sharks and Mermaids is back! After a successful pilot program last year, we are looking forward to offering this class for children on the autism spectrum to introduce them to the water. With a gentle approach and adaptive equipment, this class focuses on water skills and water safety. Santa Fe CLASSES AQUATICS SPECIAL EVENTS Jacob Myers Park is a 55 acre park with playground equipment, a 1 mile walking trail, multiple BBQ areas, restrooms, a group campground, and a boat ramp to the Stanislaus River. In the summer months, the entry fee is $7 per vehicle and the following areas are available for reservations: Burney Pavilion Rotary BBQ Pit Wedding Gazebo McRitchie Campground Please come to the Parks and Recreation office for reservations. To check dates, call (209) Castleberg Park th Street Castleberg Park is equipped with baseball/softball fields, playground equipment, outdoor basketball courts, a BBQ area, and a walking trail around the premises. The following areas available for reservations: Castleberg Gazebo (Online reservations now available! Check out our website) Castleberg Fields Community Center Park Santa Fe St. This park is located near our Community Center and Riverbank Community Pool. Sports Complex Morrill Road Our Riverbank Sports Complex has a football field, soccer fields, lights, restrooms and a concession stand. All fields are available for reservation. Please come into the Parks and Recreation office if you are interested, or call (209) Facility Reservations Community Center Santa Fe St. Maximum Capacity: 300 Our Community Center is undergoing a remodel! Classes and programs normally held in this facility will have alternate locations until April 15, This facility is ideal for large parties, weddings, quinceañeras, and more. Full kitchen on site with tables, chairs, and staging equipment available. Call us for rental fees, extended information and available dates! Scout Hall High Street Maximum Capacity: 50 The Scout Hall is a wonderful facility for small to moderately sized parties and group meetings and gatherings. A kitchen, tables, and chairs are available with your rental. Please call for fees, more information, and available dates. Riverbank Teen Center A Santa Fe Maximum Capacity: 100 Located right next to our Community Center, the Teen Center has air hockey, pool, and ping pong tables!
