Righthander Edgar Garcia gets the ball for Reno against Albuquerque righty Eddie Butler. Yesterday s Recap: A fiverun fourth inning proved to be just enough for the home team as the Isotopes defeated the Aces, 5, on Thursday night at Isotopes Park. Albuquerque batted around in the inning and recorded five singles and a walk, and held off a Reno rally over the final four innings to win the series. Catcher Tuffy Gosewisch led the Aces offense, going for4 with two solo home runs and two RBI. Reno scored first for the eighth time in 4 games as Jason Bourgeois led off the game with a triple and then came home on a Jack Reinheimer single to give the Aces an early lead. Albuquerque evened the score at one run apiece in the home half with its own leadoff triple by Rafael Ynoa, who scored on Ryan Casteel s double. The Aces regained the lead in the fourth, when Gosewisch led off the inning with a home run to left field, his second of the season. Albuquerque (9) took the lead for good when they scored five runs in the bottom of the inning to pull ahead. An RBI single by Chris Nelson and a sacrifice fly by Joey Wong set up a tworun double from Jackson Williams. Ynoa capped the inning with a sacrifice fly to center. Reno (59) closed the gap to three runs in the sixth when Gosewisch lined another solo home run down the leftfield line. Reno added a fourth run in the following frame as Mike Freeman pinchhit for Braden Shipley to lead off the seventh and reached with a bunt single. Two batters later, Bourgeois laced a runscoring single to leftcenter to bring the Aces within two runs. Evan Marzilli reached on a throwing error to lead off the ninth, scoring three batters later on a twoout, pinchhit single by Zach Borenstein. Borenstein advanced to second on a passed ball, but he was stranded as Simon Castro struck out Carlos Rivero to end the game. Shipley took the loss for Reno to fall to on the season. He worked six innings, allowing six earned runs on eight hits with two walks and one strikeout. Lefty Ryan Carpenter () went six innings to earn the win for Albuquerque, allowing three earned runs on nine hits with one walk and six strikeouts. Castro allowed a run in the ninth but held on for his first save of the season. BY THE NUMBERS The Aces have outhit their opponent in games this season. Despite the offensive success, Reno has just a.5 record (55) in those contests. The Aces have outhit the Isotopes in five of their seven meetings this season, but are just 4 in such affairs. Eddie Butler: 5yearold Eddie Butler starts for the Isotopes tonight in the series finale. The righthander has faced the Aces two times in his career, including a sixinning, onerun performance on April this year at Greater Nevada Field. He scattered four hits, walked one and struck out four in the victory. He also faced the Aces on July, 5 at Isotopes Park, taking a nodecision after yielding three earned runs on eight hits over seven innings. Jamie Romak took Butler yard in Reno s eventual comefrombehind 54 win. This year in three starts, Butler is with a 4.5 ERA. Twice as Nice: Tuffy Gosewisch hit two solo home runs off southpaw Ryan Carpenter in last night s 5 loss. In his year playing career, the yearold had hit two home runs in a game just two times prior to last night s showing, the last coming on April 7, at DoubleA Erie while playing for Reading. This also marked the first multihomer game by an Aces player since Peter O Brien homered twice against Nashville on August of last year at Greater Nevada Field. Skid Marks: It has been a tough start to the season for the Aces. Reno is currently riding a fourgame losing streak, their second of the season, and they ve dropped six consecutive games to the Isotopes. JBoosh: After an for start to the season, 7thyear outfielder Jason Bourgeois is batting.44 ( for8) over his last games since April.
