Right-hander Zack Godley gets the ball for Reno in his first career Triple-A start, opposite New Orleans righty Dylan Axelrod. Last Night s Game: The Aces earned their first series victory in the Crescent City since with a 7- victory in game three of their four-game set with the Zephyrs on Wednesday night. Jack Reinheimer and Ed Lucas led the Aces with two RBI apiece as Reno used a six-run sixth inning to pull ahead before hanging on for the two-run win. New Orleans took a - lead during a two-out rally in the fourth with a Brady Shoemaker double and an RBI single by Isaac Galloway, who was caught stealing to end the inning. Reno broke up Paul Clemens no-hit bid and then took a - lead with six runs in the sixth, marking the Aces biggest inning of the season. Todd Glaesmann led off the inning with a double down the left-field line, advancing to third with heads-up baserunning on Mike Freeman s flyout. Peter O Brien then roped an RBI single to left to plate Glaesmann, with Kyle Jensen scoring O Brien on a two-base hit to left. Reinheimer continued the hit parade with an RBI single to bring in Jensen before Lucas launched a two-run home run over the left-field wall. Tuffy Gosewisch followed Lucas with a single, scoring two batters later when Glaesmann reached on a fielding error. The Zephyrs answered Reno s sixth-inning outburst with four runs of their own in the home half on four hits and four walks. New Orleans started with two singles and a double to close the gap to -. A walk prompted Aces Manager Phil Nevin to summon Matt Stites from the bullpen to replace starter Matt Buschmann. The Aces traded another Zephyr run for a -- double play, but an RBI single and a bases-loaded walk then shrunk the visitors lead to one. Reno continued the scoring in the seventh, stretching its advantage to 7-. Reinheimer hit a two-out RBI double to capitalize on a key throwing error by former Aces pitcher Cody Hall that allowed Jensen to advance after he had singled to start the two-out rally. Dominic Leone and Silvino Bracho (@ silvinobracho) worked scoreless innings in the eighth and ninth to secure the game and the series. O Brien and Jensen joined Lucas with two-hit games, and each drove in a run. Freeman added a stolen base, as did O Brien, whose theft was the second of his career. Buschmann (-) earned his first victory of the season, allowing four earned runs on nine hits over five-plus innings with two walks and four strikeouts. Bracho s save was his th of the season, which gave him sole possession of the Pacific Coast League lead as of the end of the game. Dylan Axelrod: -year-old Dylan Axelrod starts tonight for New Orleans. The right-hander is - with a.8 ERA and 8 strikeouts in Triple-A this year, working 9. innings over seven games (six starts) for the Zephyrs. Last season, he went - with a 7. The Big Easy, Easy?: The Aces and Zephyrs play just one four-game series per season against each other since they are in different conferences. Reno leads the all-time series by a 7- margin, and the teams are tied 9-9 New Orleans. The Aces have now won their first series in Louisiana since sweeping a three-game set in. That series marks Reno s only sweep of the Zephyrs. Interconference Matchup: After the Aces played only Pacific Conference opponents in their first nine series, Reno s four opponents from May - all are members of the American Conference. The Aces went - against American Conference opponents last season and 7- in. So far, Reno is 7- in interconference games this year. Do I Hear?: Todd Glaesmann began the Aces six-run sixth inning with a leadoff double last night. During his current -game hitting streak dating back to May, the outfielder is batting.8 (-for-) with one home run, four doubles, eight RBI, six runs scored, two walks, one stolen base and one hit-by-pitch. Glaesmann s career-high hitting streak of games stretched from June to June in while playing for Single-A Bowling Green. Triple-A Debut: Zack Godley will make his first Triple-A start tonight. He will become the fourth hurler to make their first Triple-A start for Reno this season, following Nick Baker, Braden Shipley and Tyler Wagner. Six-Run Sixth: Reno broke out for six runs in the sixth inning last night after being no-hit for the first five frames. The six spot marked the Aces biggest output in one inning this season (previous: runs, twice). Last season, the Aces put up six or more runs in an inning times. A Little Help from My Friends: Matt Buschmann earned his first win in seven starts for the Aces on Wednesday night. He worked five innings to match his shortest outing of the year, and allowed four or more runs for the third time this season. However, he received six runs of support after getting only in his first six starts combined. Through Games: The Aces are just one win better (-) this year compared to last year s - mark through games. The starting rotation has posted a.98 ERA (8 ER/. IP) compared to last year s.89 ERA ( ER/. IP). Last year, the offense had scored 8 runs through contests (.9 runs per game), compared to this year s 88 runs in games (.8 runs per game). Bradley Wins PCL Weekly Honor: Reno righty Archie Bradley was named the PCL Pitcher of the Week for May -, as announced by the league office on Monday. The Aces hurler defeated Omaha on Saturday in his only appearance of the week, allowing three hits and three walks over eight shutout innings with nine strikeouts. The award marked the first PCL weekly accolade for Bradley and his fourth career weekly pitching award. He earned the Southern League honor twice and the California League distinction once during the season. In addition, this is the first time Reno has had two pitchers win the weekly league honor in a season (Braden Shipley, May ). Top Prospects: Reno has six players on its current roster who are ranked among Arizona s top- prospects by Baseball America, including five among the top. RHP Braden Shipley leads the group as the No. prospect in the organization and No. 7 in all of baseball. Following the hurler are RHP Archie Bradley (No. ), OFs Sócrates Brito (No. ) and Peter O Brien (No. 7), INF Jack Reinheimer (No. 9) and RHP Silvino Bracho (No. 9).
