's bullpen stranded two runners in scoring position three separate times over the final four innings, including in the ninth, when Montana Du- Rapau struck out Dale Burdick with the bases loaded to end the game. Logan Hill brought in the first run in the first and Edwin Espinal scored later in the frame on a passed ball. Elvis Escobar hit a two-run homer in the third to extend the lead to 4-1. Binghamton closed within two in the sixth but Tate Scioneaux stranded the bases loaded. The Curve added runs with RBIs by Tomas Morales and Jerrick Suiter in the sixth and seventh, pulling ahead, 6-3. Binghamton scored two in the ninth before DuRapau ended the game. Suiter went 4-for-4 with an RBI. Akron won two of three at home against Harrisburg leading into this series. FOR ALTOONA: Left-hander Cody Dickson makes his third start of the year for the Curve. In his most recent outing, he allowed three homers and five total runs in four innings in a loss at Erie on Sunday. He began the season with Triple-A Indianapolis and was assigned to on June 24. With Indianapolis, Dickson went 4-3 with a 4.02 ERA in 19 games (five starts). The lefty spent all of last season with the Curve, when he compiled a 10-5 record with a 3.66 ERA in 28 games (26 starts). Those numbers earned him Curve Pitcher of the Year honors. A native of Arlington, Texas, Dickson is in his fifth professional season after being drafted by the Pirates in the fourth round out of Sam Houston State in For more on Dickson, see page two. FOR AKRON: Right-hander Michael Peoples makes his eighth start of the year for the RubberDucks and his ninth overall Eastern League appearance this season. Last time out, he picked up a win against Bowie after allowing one earned run over six innings on Sunday. He has faced the Curve once this year, pitching in 's home opener on April 13 and allowing two runs over six innings in a no-decision. Peoples was sent to Triple-A Columbus on May 5 and went 1-4 with a 7.15 ERA in seven starts before being sent back to Akron on June 21. The Weatherford, Texas native was drafted by the Indians in the 14th round in 2012 out of Western Oklahoma State College. OUTSIDE LOOKING IN: With a loss on June 30 loss, the Curve dropped out of first place in the E.L. West for the first time since April 18, a span covering 64 straight games. Dating back to July 24, 2016, they were in first place in the division for 100 of 108 games. ESPINAL, LA ESTRELLA: First baseman Edwin Espinal was added to the Eastern League Western Division All-Star roster on Monday, giving the team six selections this season, tied for the most in the league. That total is tied for the second-most in franchise history (2006 and 2010), behind only the seven selections in Espinal is just the fourth player in Curve history to receive multiple Eastern League Mid-Season All-Star nods, joining Shawn Garrett ( ), Jason Delaney ( ) and Brock Holt ( ). Jordan Luplow, Wyatt Mathisen, Kevin Kramer, Alex McRae and Montana DuRapau were named to the All-Star rosters last Wednesday. BATTLING THE INJURY BUG: After placing just three players on the disabled list for the entire season in 2015 and three in all of 2016, the Curve have placed eight different players on their DL this year. Currently there are six players on the disabled list, including three of the team's top-five prospects on MLB.com (Kevin Kramer, Brandon Waddell and Connor Joe). HELLO, NEWMAN: Over his last 16 games since June 17, Kevin Newman is hitting.353 (24/68) and has just six strikeouts. His season average has increased from.229 to.258. For the year, he has the fourth-best TPA/SO rate in the E.L. (9.50). On Tuesday against Binghamton, he led the Curve offense with three hits, including a homer and a double, with three RBIs and two runs scored. SUIT UP!: In the month of June, Jerrick Suiter hit.354 (23/65) with four home runs and 11 RBIs in 22 games, leading the Pirates' system in batting average for the month. Overall since June 2, Suiter is batting.365 (31/85), the best in the Pittsburgh system during that stretch with five homers, 16 RBIs and 17 walks. Over his last two games, Suiter has reached base in eight consecutive plate appearances (7-for-7, HR, BB, 2 R, 3 RBI) EDWINNING: 2016 E.L. All-Star Edwin Espinal leads the team with 53 RBIs, fifth in the league, and he is first on the team and tied for first in the league with 23 doubles. He has the third-best strikeout rate in the league (9.58 TPA/SO) and had multiple strikeouts in a game just four times. WHAT A RELIEF: The Curve bullpen has been tough to hit this year. Lefty Sean Keselica has held opposing hitters to a.172 average when pitching out of the pen, second-best in the league, and ON THE LAST HOMESTAND Tate Scioneaux (.195) is ranked fifth.
