Michael Suchy led off the bottom of the tenth with a double and Escobar brought him in to score the winning run with a single. The Curve tied the score with an RBI groundout by Jerrick Suiter in the bottom of the ninth. opened a 3-0 lead through the first three innings. In the second, Escobar brought home Wyatt Mathisen with an RBI single. Suiter added a two-run homer in the third inning, his ninth of the year. Trenton took a 4-3 lead in the fifth with a grand slam by Zack Zehner, the only four runs allowing by Casey Sadler over his seasonhigh seven innings pitched. TODAY: The Curve open a three-game series against the Portland Sea Dogs, Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. The Curve won two of three games against the Sea Dogs at PNG Field from June in their only other meetings this season. The Sea Dogs are in a stretch of playing 19 straight games against Western Division opponents, going 10-6 in those games, and have won five of their last seven games overall. The Curve split a four-game series at home against Trenton prior to this series. FOR ALTOONA: Right-hander J.T. Brubaker makes his 20th start of the season and his 22nd overall appearance of the year. Last time out, he allowed two earned runs over five innings in a no-decision against Reading on Wednesday. Over his last five starts since July 18, Brubaker is 2-0 with a 3.12 ERA (9 ER/26 IP). Brubaker began 2016 with Single- A West Virginia, where he went 4-5 with a 3.48 ERA in 12 starts. He was promoted to A-Adv. in June and went 2-6 with a 5.32 ERA over 14 starts. The Pirates selected Brubaker in the sixth round of the 2015 draft out of the University of Akron. He went 6-4 with a 2.82 in his professional debut season with the West Virginia Black Bears in 2015 en route to a New York-Penn League championship. For more on Brubaker, see page two. FOR PORTLAND: Right-hander Teddy Stankiewicz makes his 20th start and 21st overall appearance for the Sea Dogs. Last time out, he allowed four earned runs over 6.2 innings in a win at Richmond on Wednesday. This start marks his first against the Curve this year. He faced twice last season, going 0-2 with a 3.60 ERA (4 ER/10 IP). Stankiewicz was drafted in the second round in 2013 by the Red Sox out of Seminole State College in Oklahoma. EAST FEAST: The Curve are playing their 11th of 19 consecutive games against the Eastern League Eastern Division. Overall, 26 of the 30 games from July 24-August 23 are against teams from the East. Since July 24, the Curve have gone 9-8 against the opposite division. For the season, the Curve are when facing the Eastern Division, including a mark at home and a 7-5 record on the road. GOOD IN A PINCH: Jonathan Schwind clubbed the Curve's third pinch-hit homer of the season in last night's win, a three-run shot in the sixth to put the Curve ahead, 6-3. All three of the 's pinch-hit homers have ultimately been game winners. Jordan Luplow hit a two-run homer as a pinch hitter on May 17 at Binghamton to break a 6-6 tie in an 8-6 win. Chase Simpson hit a three-run homer in the seventh inning on June 7 at Harrisburg in a 5-3 Curve win. Overall this season, Curve pinch hitters are batting.72 (16/43). CLOSE CALLS: The Curve have gone in their last 25 games, and seven of those losses have been by one run. Their last 12 losses since July 18 have been by an average of 1.7 runs (20 runs/12 games). The Curve have played 46 one-run games this year, the most in the Eastern League, and have posted a record in those games. RETURN OF THE JIN-DE: After missing the first six weeks of the season, catcher Jin-De Jhang was batting.184 in 31 games prior to July 8, Since then, he has hit.280 (26/93) in 25 games with three home runs, four doubles and 17 RBIs. He picked up five RBIs on August 3, the most for a Curve player in a game this year. Behind the plate, he has thrown out 47.4 percent (18/38) of base stealing attempts this season, the best in the Eastern League this season of catchers with at least 35 attempts against him. C-N-O: Reliever Tate Scioneaux has held opposing batters to a.201 average, fourth-best in the league among relievers. Scioneaux is tied for third in the league with 39 appearances, has the second-lowest BB/9 IP ratio (1.58) and has allowed the fourth-fewest baserunners (8.39/9 IP). Scioneaux has the second-best ERA (1.95) out of all relievers in the league with at least 50 innings pitched. SAVE IT: The Curve lead the Eastern League with 39 saves this season, their third-highest total in a year since 2008 (They had 47 in 2010 and 44 in 2015). The team record for saves in a single season is 49, which the Curve posted in Montana DuRapau (14) and Tate Scioneaux (11) are the third duo of relievers in franchise history to individually record double-digit saves in a single season. He lifted the Curve to a 3-2 win with a walk-off single against Trenton on Saturday in the first game of a double-header. On Sunday, he drove a walk-off single in the bottom of the tenth to hand the Curve a 5-4 win against the Thunder.
