Starting pitcher Mitch Keller struck out 11 batters over six scoreless innings, becoming the first Curve pitcher to strike out 11 in a game since Tyler Glasnow had 12 punch outs in a start in July It was the 11th outing by a Curve pitcher with 11 or more strikeouts in team history. Pablo Reyes tripled in the first inning and came in to score on a sac fly by Jordan George to put the Curve on the board early. Anderson Feliz added a run with an RBI double in the fourth. The Curve added three runs in the sixth inning. Jon Schwind came through with a pinch-hit RBI single, Cole Tucker was hit by a pitch to bring home a run and Reyes grounded into a run-scoring fielder's choice to open the lead to 5-0. Jose Marmolejos broke the shutout with a two-run double in the seventh, but Jerrick Suiter scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the inning to extend the lead to 6-2. Harrisburg rallied for three runs against Tate Scioneaux in the eighth, but Yeudy Garcia entered and stranded two runners on base in the inning and worked through a scoreless ninth to pick up his fifth save. TODAY: The Curve play the second of four games against the Harrisburg Senators, Double-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, for the final series of the regular season. The Curve opened the season in Harrisburg, splitting a four-game set from April 7-9, and won two of three games at home from April The Curve also took two of three games at Harrisburg from June 6-8. The two teams last met from July at PNG Field, when the Curve won two of three games. FOR ALTOONA: Right-hander Alex McRae makes his 25th start and 27th overall appearance for the Curve this season. Last time out, he worked six innings and allowed one run at Richmond on Monday night in a 15-inning Curve loss. McRae's 3.67 ERA is ranked as the ninth-best in the Eastern League this season and he has pitched the fourthmost innings (144.2) in the league. McRae is aiming for his 11th win of the year, which would make him the just the fifth Curve pitcher to reach the mark since 2011 (Jason Creasy, 2015 (12); Chad Kuhl, 2015 (11); Casey Sadler, 2013 (11) and Brandon Cumpton, 2012 (12). Last season, McRae joined the Curve in late-june after making 12 starts in the Florida State League. After going 2-4 with a ERA in his first six starts with, McRae went 6-2 with a 2.47 ERA (17 ER/62.0 IP) over his last ten outings (nine starts) from July 14-September 1. A native of Milwaukee, McRae is in his fourth professional season after being drafted by the Pirates in the tenth round out of Jacksonville University in 2014, where he played first and third base along with pitching. For more on McRae, see page two. FOR HARRISBURG: Right-hander Kyle McGowan makes his eighth start for the Senators this season. Last time out, he worked even innings and allowed one earned run against Akron on Monday. He has bounced between Triple-A Syracuse, Double-A Harrisburg and A-Adv. Potomac this season. McGowan was picked up by the Nationals in a trade along with RHP Austin Adams from the Los Angeles Angels for 2B Danny Espinosa in December He was originally drafted by the Angles in the fifth round in 2013 out of Savannah State. PLAYOFF BOUND: The Curve solidified a playoff berth for the third straight season with Tuesday night's win at Richmond. They currently lead the Western Division by 1.5 games over Bowie with three games remaining. This year marks the second time in franchise history the Curve have reached the playoffs in three straight seasons (They went to the playoffs in four consecutive years from ). The Curve have won their division two times: 2004 and In both of those seasons, they advanced to the Eastern League Championship series, losing in the finals to New Hampshire in 2004 and winning their only E.L. title to date in 2010 over Trenton. The win on Tuesday also locked up the Curve's 12th winning season in their first 19 years. PITCH PERFECT: Over the last 13 games since August 20, Curve starting pitchers have combined to go 6-3 with a 2.53 ERA (22 ER/78.1 IP). In that stretch, J.T. Brubaker is 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA (8 ER/16 IP) in three starts, Brandon Waddell is 1-0 with a 1.45 ERA (3 ER/18.2 IP) in three starts, Mitch Keller is 2-1 with a 3.24 ERA (6 ER/16.2 IP) in two starts, Casey Sadler is 1-0 with a 1.00 ERA (1 ER/9.0 IP) in one start and Alex McRae is 1-0 with a 3.27 ERA (4 ER/11 IP) in two starts. ICE COLE: Cole Tucker is batting.365 (19/52) over his last 13 games with 11 RBIs, two doubles, a triple and one homer. He has picked up five go-ahead hits for the Curve dating back to Aug. 20, when he hit an RBI single in the 10th inning at New Hampshire to lift the Curve to a 6-5 win. On Aug. 21, he clubbed a two-run homer in a 2-0 win at Hartford. On Aug. 22, he gave the Curve a lead with a two-run triple to give the Curve the lead in a 5-4 win at Hartford. On Saturday, Tucker broke a 1-1 tie with a go-ahead single in the sixth inning in a win over the Baysox. He broke a scoreless tie in a 3-1 win on Tuesday at Richmond as the Curve clinched a postseason berth. CLOSE CALLS: The Curve have gone in their last 42 games, and nine of those losses have been by one run. Their last 20 losses since July 18 have been by an average of 2.2 runs (43 runs/20 games). The Curve have played 53 one-run games this year, the most in the Eastern League, and have posted a record in those games. SEARCHING FOR HITS: The Curve hit.243 in the month of August, the lowest in the Eastern League and the lowest for the Curve in a single month this season. The team average for the season is currently.255, which would tie the second-lowest in franchise history (2008 Curve also hit.255), trailing only the 2013 team, which hit.252. C-N-O: Reliever Tate Scioneaux has held opposing batters to a.219 average, tied for fourth-best in the league among relievers. Scioneaux is ranked third in the league with 46 appearances, has the lowest BB/9 IP ratio (1.44) and has allowed the second-fewest baserunners (9.00/9 IP). He has converted each of his last eight save attempts. The team record for saves in a single season is 49, which the Curve posted in Montana DuRapau (14) and Tate Scioneaux (14) are the third duo of relievers in franchise history to individually record double-digit saves in a single season. Jhondaniel Medina (12) and Yhonathan Barrios (10) accomplished the feat in 2015, as did Jeff Miller (18) and Elio Serrano (14) in WHAT A RELIEF: Over 15 games since July 15, Luis Heredia posted a 0.87 ERA (2 ER/20.2 IP). Tanner Anderson has a 0.87 ERA (2 ER/20.2 IP) in nine appearances since moving to the bullpen on July 31. Since July 3, Tate Scioneaux has converted all eight save chances and has a 2.08 ERA (6 ER/26 IP) in 18 games. Right-hander Yeudy Garcia has posted a 3.09 ERA (8 ER/23.1 IP) and added three saves over 14 outings since moving to the bullpen full time in early July.
