The Bulls only loss was a 3-0 setback to Towson that snapped a 16-game winning streak. As a team, the Bulls have been a force at the plate, batting.351 this month and outscoring opponents USF has 10 players batting.350 or better and three with double-digit RBIs this month. The pitching staff has been just as dominant, posting a miniscule 0.73 earned run average while recording eight shutouts. All four pitchers have an ERA of 1.04 or lower and have at least four wins this month. WEEKLY AWARDS For the second straight week the Bulls brought home a handful of awards from the conference. Three players were recognized in the American Athletic Conference weekly awards led by Lee Ann Spivey, who was named player of the week for the first time in her career. Susan Wysocki and Monica Santos were both named to the honor roll for the first time in their careers as well. In all, USF has had nine players earn weekly conference honors already this season. SPIVEY HAVING MONSTER SEASON Lee Ann Spivey is having a monster season for the Bulls, leading the team in nine different offensive categories. The junior catcher also leads the American Athletic Conference and is tied for seventh in the country with 41 RBIs, already eight more than she had all of last season. She also leads the conference with eight home runs and recently passed current assistant coach Carmela Liwag for eighth on the USF career home runs list. She needs only one more home run to tie Monica Triner and JoJo Medina for sixth on the all-time list with 23. The Palm Coast, Fla., native also ranks in the top five in the conference in nine offensive categories. POTENT OFFENSE CONTINUES TO SHINE The Bulls offense continues to shine this season, leading the American Athletic Conference in 10 offensive categories: batting average (.326), runs (202), RBIs (168), hits (288), triples (13), on-base percentage (.407), total bases (407), stolen bases (63), walks (115) and sacrifices (25). The Bulls also rank second in the conference in slugging percentage (.460). USF has five players that rank among the top five in the conference in at least one offensive category. The Bulls also rank 12th nationally with.36 triples per game and 25th with a.326 team batting average. PITCHING STAFF ROLLING ALONG After a bit of a slow start, the USF pitching staff has found its groove, helping the Bulls earn 20 wins in their last 21 games. During the month of March they have an ERA of 0.73 after posting a 3.56 ERA in February. USF ranks 23rd in the country with a 2.06 team ERA. Senior right-hander Karla Claudio was named American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week last Monday for the first time in her career and is tied for first in the nation with six saves. Susan Wysocki has also had a phenomenal first season with a 6-0 record and was named to the conference honor roll on Monday. Sam Greiner is tied for third in the American with eight wins while Claudio also ranks third in the league with 66 strikeouts.
