The Hoos take next weekend off for exams. The Cavaliers lifted five home runs over the weekend at Pitt, accounting for all five of their runs against the Panthers. Olivia Gott homered twice in the series opener, the fourth time a Cavalier has launched multiple home runs in a single game this season. Virginia added another pair of home runs in the midweek against JMU. In their last five games, the Cavaliers have launched a total of nine home runs The 2018 Cavaliers have now homered 51 times on the season, the third highest mark in program history. They need four more to match the all-time record set in Allison Davis tagged her team-leading 11th home run of the season on Wednesday. The 11 homers are the most since Nicole Koren in Erika Osherow also homered Wednesday, bringing her season total to six. HOOS vs. BLUE DEVILS Virginia and Duke are meeting for the first time as the Blue Devils are in their inaugural season of softball. Duke is the seventh, first-time opponent this season for the Cavaliers. Virginia is 3-4 against other teams the Cavaliers have met for the first time this season. 3 STREAKING Veterans Allison Davis and Olivia Gott are red-hot entering the weekend at Duke. Davis has strung together five consecutive multi-hit games. She s hitting.588 with a pair of homers and a triple in the last five games. Gott has been even more deadly at the plate, hitting.667 with four home runs and three doubles. She added four walks to reach at a.750 clip in the last five games. GOTT IT Junior backstop Olivia Gott busted out of a slump in a big way over the weekend at Pitt. Gott went 5-for-8 against the Panthers with four home runs and a double. The four home runs brought her season total to 10 long balls, a new career high for Gott. She also tied a career high with her 21st RBI of the season. The stellar weekend jumped Gott s batting average 33 points to.304. After Wednesday s 2-for-2 performance, she now hits.314. CHANCE AT HISTORY After lifting five home runs over the weekend and a pair more on Wednesday, the Cavaliers are just four shy of the school record for homers in a season. The 51 home runs rank third all-time in program history. Both Allison Davis (11) and Olivia Gott (10) have 10+ home runs on the season. They are the first duo to hit double-digit home runs in a season since Sarah Tacke and Nicole Koren in Danni Ingraham has nine home runs on the season. If she were to homer again, it would be the first time in program history three players have homered 10+ times in a season. SLUGGING AWAY The 2018 Cavaliers are slugging at a.450 clip on the year. The mark is the secondhighest in program history behind last year s.457 mark. The.450 slugging percentage ranks second in the ACC and 52nd in the country. INGRAHAM IGNITES Senior Danni Ingraham strung together a 11- game hitting streak from March 28-April 14. In those 11 games, the first baseman hit.406 with a team-high 14 RBI. Ingraham also had five home runs and four doubles to slug over the 10-game stretch. RECORD DAY Virginia s finale at Louisville marked a number of records, most notably Danni Ingraham s record-tying seven RBI and a combined 29 runs scored. Ingraham is only the second player in Virginia history with seven RBI, matching Jamie Hahn s record set in In addition, the win marked the most combined runs in a single game in Virginia program history. The Hoos 17 runs are the most in a single game for Virginia since SEASON NOTES IN THE RANKINGS Virginia ranks top 15 in the country with 51 home runs on the season. The Cavaliers have turned 21 double plays on the season, ranking 31st nationally in double plays per game. Allison Davis ranks top 35 in the country with 61 hits on the season. She continues to lead the ACC in the category. SPACE RACE Seniors Allison Davis and Danni Ingraham are both chasing UVA history as they continue to climb the all-time home run leaderboard. Davis opened the season red-hot, matching her career high of nine home runs in a single season. Ingraham launched a pair of home runs against Louisville in the series finale to take over second on the all-time list. TOP 5 CAREER HOME RUNS 1. AD is just the seventh player in Virginia history to every eclipse the 200-hit plateau. Davis is the first Hoo to record 200 hits in over a decade, dating to Elea Crockett who closed her career in HOOS HITTING Virginia s.266 batting average on the season is the second-highest mark since 2005 for the Hoos. The Cavaliers are also slugging.450, marking the fourth consecutive season above.400 in the category. Virginia set eight different top 10 marks as a team in In Hardin s first season, the Hoos launched the second most home runs in program history (53) while setting school bests in slugging (.457) and extra base hits (146). The Cavaliers 231 runs scored rank eight in program history. BALANCED BATS Six different Cavaliers have produced 20 or more RBI this season.
