The Cavaliers are coming off a 2-2 weekend at the District Classic where the Hoos racked up 39 runs in the four games. Virginia cranked out 11 home runs in the four games, more than the Cavaliers had posted in the first 16 games combined. As a team, the Hoos hit.390 on the weekend while slugging at a.780 clip. Allison Davis led the way with a.692 average and eight RBI. She also went deep for three home runs. Hayley Busby also continued her hot hitting, extending her hitting streak to seven games. The freshman has reached safely in 10 straight as well. Virginia opens ACC play this weekend by hosting Georgia Tech at The Park. HOOS vs. PIRATES Virginia and Hampton are meeting for the fourth and fifth time in Tuesday s doubleheader. The Cavaliers are 3-0 all-time against the Pirates. The two sides are meeting for the first time since Hampton is 5-9 on the season and coming off a 2-3 weekend at the Pirate Invitational. Hampton has played one other ACC foe on the season, falling 5-0 to North Carolina. 3 AD ON FIRE Senior Allison Davis hit.692 over the weekend and launched three home runs. She also led the team with eight RBI on the weekend. The outfielder ranks among the ACC leaders in nearly every category. Busby has raised her batting average to.311 on the season, after sitting at.154 just two weeks ago. The freshman added a chinstrap to her batting helmet two weeks ago and has hit.469 since the addition of the chinstrap. Over that time, Busby leads the Hoos with 15 hits, four doubles and is second with nine RBI. GOTT GETS GOING Despite her 11-game reached base streak being snapped over the weekend, junior backstop Olivia Gott found a new groove at the plate. Gott hit.417 over the weekend and now leads the Hoos at.378 on the year. She also found her power, launching her first longball of the season. She leads the team with 10 walks and is reaching at a.500 clip on the year. RETURN TO ACC 2017 saw Virginia return to the ACC Tournament for the first time since The Cavaliers won 8 of their last 10 games, including a 5-2 run in ACC play to earn a spot in the postseason. The Cavaliers finished the year with nine ACC victories, marking the most in a season since HOOS HITTING Virginia set eight different top 10 marks as a team in In Hardin s first season, the Hoos launched the second most home runs in program history (53) while setting school bests in slugging (.457) and extra base hits (146). The Cavaliers 231 runs scored rank eight in program history. SMITH SWINGING Junior Lacy Smith has already matched her career high with 17 RBI on the season. Smith is also hitting at a career-best clip of.286 this season. She needs just four more hits to match her career best. SEASON NOTES JENNINGS JOINS PARTY Freshman Ashley Jennings had her best weekend of the season at the District Classic. Jennings went 4-for-7 in three games played, launching the first two home runs of her UVA career. She finished the weekend slugging with four RBI. OFFENSIVE EXPLOSION In its opening weekend finale, Virginia exploded for 14 runs in a rout of Southern. The 14 markers are the most for the Hoos since The game featured a nine-run second inning, also the largest since 2015 for the Hoos. As a team, Virginia belted four doubles, a triple and a home run in the victory. It s the 11th time in 59 games under Hardin the Hoos have piled up five or more extra base hits. INGRAHAM CHASING HISTORY A senior, first baseman Danni Ingraham will be a source of leadership for Virginia in As a junior, Ingraham hit 10 home runs, tied for ninth most in a single season in UVA history. She also led the Hoos with 34 RBI in 2017 and currently sits atop the all-time list with a.993 fielding percentage. Ingraham now sits just 14 RBI away from entering UVA s top 10 all-time.
