1 OMAHA STORM CHASERS BASEBALL CLUB OFFICIAL GAME INFORMATION OMAHA STORM CHASERS 79-61, 2nd American Northern RHP Yohan Pino 6-3, 4.76 ERA (13 PCL Starts in 2015) LAST NIGHT S WIN: The Storm Chasers finished their road schedule for 2015 with a win, clinching a winning road record for the fifth time in the last six years (did not in 2013). The run total was tied for the second most in a game this season, and their second double-digit victory. BATTING TITLE WATCH: Jose Martinez.386 average is the top batting average in the Pacific Coast League (leads by 37 points) and he needs just two plate appearances in the final four games to qualify. Martinez.461 on-base percentage also leads the PCL (by 35 points). He is trying to become the first Omaha batting title winner since Mark Quinn in 1999 at a.360 average (back-to-back seasons for Omaha with Jeremy Giambi in 1998 at a.372 mark). ALL-TIME AVERAGE: Jose Martinez.386 average would be the highest average in the Pacific Coast League in the modern era (since 1958) besting Rick Short for New Orleans at.383 in It would be the highest qualifying batting average in Omaha history (current record is Jeremy Giambi in 1998 at.372). Only two other PCL players besides Short have hit.380 in a season: Adam Eaton at.381 for Reno in 2012, James Loney at.380 for Las Vegas in STELLAR STAFF: Omaha ranks third in the Pacific Coast League with a 3.79 ERA, and their previous PCL low was 3.91 during the 2013 season. It would be their lowest since 1990 (3.50 ERA). The Storm Chasers are one of three teams in the PCL with a ERA of under 3.80, which would be the most teams in one season under that mark since the league expanded in There were two teams in 2006 (Nashville at 3.62, Round Rock 3.78) and 2001 (Tacoma at 3.74, New Orleans at 3.75). NOT CHASING: Storm Chasers batters have the fewest strikeouts in the Pacific Coast League at 846. Omaha has totaled the fewest strikeouts in the league during 2011, 2012 and RB-EIBNER: With Brett Eibner s five RBI game last night (he has three of the four games with five or more RBI for Omaha this year) he is now the leader among all Kansas City farmhands at 80 RBI (total is tied for seventh most in the PCL). That total is a career high, while he 19 homers have tied a career best with his 19 for NW Arkansas in Eibner is tied for eighth in the PCL with a batting average of.310 (has never had an above.243, in 2013 with NW Arkansas, in his career). ON-BASE STREAK: Jose Martinez has an on-base streak of 23 games dating back to August 12. During the streak he has batted.460 (40-for-87) and has an on-base percentage of.539, raising his batting average from.360 to.386 and his on-base percentage from.433 to.461. It is his second on-base streak of at least 23 games this season, as he had a 23-gamer from July 19 to August 9, meaning Martinez has reached base in 56 of his last 57 games dating to July 19. END OF THE RUN: The Storm Chasers will not win the American Conference North Division for the first time since Omaha had also won the American Conference Championship in four straight years (one of three teams in the history of the PCL to appear in four straight PCL Championships: San Francisco Seals in , Albuquerque Dukes in ). Omaha was attempting to become the second team to win three straight PCL Championships (Albuquerque ) and the first team to win three straight Triple-A National Championship Games.
