Sorer s Judgement A fielder is expeted to mke resonle effort, to field ll. Depending on the ply, this sometimes inludes moving step or two towrds the ll to mke the ply. Wht is onsidered resonle effort vries with the stndrd of softll eing plyed. Premier plyers should e expeted to mke Outs tht soil or ge group plyers re not expeted to mke, so your judgement needs to e tougher t higher levels of softll. To deide whether to sore hit or n error, sk yourself: Should fielder plying t this level of softll generlly e expeted to mke this Out? Be reful not to judge the plyer rther thn the ply? An error must not e hrged to the est fielder in the legue on the sis of he should hve hd it. The stndrd pplied must e onsistent for ll plyers, depending only on the grde or level of softll eing plyed. Other questions you should onsider re: Firstly, the prime guide is not does the tter deserve hit?, ut does the fielder deserve n error? In onsidering this rememer the key phrse resonle effort A fielder is only expeted to mke ordinry - or resonle - effort, not to e supermn. Wht if the error hdn t ourred?
