Pictures from the April Friendship Rally at Encore Sunshine Daytona The February meeting of the Florida Eagle Sams chapter was called to order by President Bob Brown on April 14, Tom O Daniel led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance and an opening prayer. Members present at the meeting: Ted and Julie Batchelder, Earl and Earlene Bradley-Foran, Bob and Peggy Brown, Linda Huett, Sandy Jennings, Hugh and Judy Jones, Jim and Rosalie Morace, Ron and Nancy Neidert, Tom and Charlotte O Daniel, Jane and Fred Poole, Steve and Beverly Powell, Lew and Danna Smith, and Alan and Susan Troop. Guests at the meeting included: Don and Dorothy McCain from Debary and Ivalena Rackley from Little Rock, Arkansas. Secretary s Report In the absence of Secretary, Paula Prudhomme, a motion was made and seconded to accept the February minutes as ed to each member. (And a special thank you goes to Peggy Brown for recording the April minutes and keeping track of the activities to add to this newsletter.) State News There was no State News to report this month. Wagonmaster s Report Jim Morace took a roll call for those attending next month s rally at New Smyrna Campground. The date is May 4-6 with Ted and Julie Batchelder hosting. The rate is $24 but if we don t have 12 rigs, the rate may change. Every month it is important to let Jim know if you ARE coming or if you ARE NOT. He will send out a roster each month of those he has heard from and if your name is not on it, then you need to contact him with your plans.

2 Florida Eagle Sams NEWSLETTER, Page 2 Wagonmaster s Report (cont d) After roll call, we made note of some of our folks traveling this summer. Bob and Rhoda Bodnaruk are already on their way to Oregon and other points; one highlight of their trip will be an excursion through Alaska. Maddie Garand is currently in Texas for an FMCA Singles Dance Rally and is having a ball (literally). Fred and Jane Poole are leaving in May for an extended time in the West, highlighted by a caravan on the Lewis and Clark Trail and a trip to Yellowstone. The Smiths are headed to Louisiana and the Troops are roaming Florida but are not sure where they will end up. The O Daniels are going to Pigeon Forge this summer. The Getsees are in North Carolina presently and then will be headed on a cruise. The Browns are headed to Dothan, AL, for a Samboree and then to Tallahassee for their granddaughter s graduation. Bob and Peggy Brown asked that we keep in touch with them via to let our chapter know where we are and share any interesting things we may be doing or seeing. New business included: Volunteer Hours For the month of January, 2012, Florida Eagle Sam members donated these hours in providing services to their respective communities. New Business Peggy Brown read the correspondence. A thankyou note was received from former member Carol Baker regarding this chapter s response to her husband s (Ben) death. Also, a note of appreciation was received from Jeff & Sue Rehberg. (The Rehbergs were guests from Wisconsin at our February campout. Sue was instrumental in helping with the wardrobe of Little No Peep.) They included a $20 check for the chapter. Treasurer s Report Tom O Daniel presented the treasurer s report: Petty Cash Checking Account Total $ Y-t-d, Florida Dog Guides $ Y-t-d, Camp Boggy Creek $ Other monies reported this month include: $ (net) that was received from the Bake Walk at the Palatka Samboree and $25, the 2 nd Place Award for the Garbage Bag and Duct Tape Skit also from the Winter Samboree. Guests Jeff and Sue Rehberg gave our chapter $20 (in a thank you note, see Correspondence under New Business). The Treasurer s Report was approved as read. The upcoming Spring Samboree in Okeechobee was discussed. Those attending include: the Troops, Pooles, Garand, Bradley-Forans, O Daniels, and Westons. Alan suggested that everyone get together as they did in Palatka and grill out for lunch at the Poole s rig. Bring your own meat to grill, drink, and side dishes. Plan on Thursday from 11 to 1, unless the schedule makes it necessary to change. Our chapter is responsible for selling SAMGO cards and daubers and calling numbers for the SAMGO games on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Maddie Garand has volunteered to get a table for the chapter at the Flea Market at the Samboree. She will be bringing about 100 audio books. If anyone else would like to contribute items, she asked that you put a cheap price on them and get them to her or one of the others that will be attending. If the items are not sold, they will be returned to the donor. A motion was made and passed to put the profits of the Flea Market into the chapter treasury (temporarily) and decide at a later time where that money will go.

3 Florida Eagle Sams NEWSLETTER, Page 23 New Business (cont d) Continuing the discussion of the Spring Samboree in Okeechobee: There will be a Mad Hatter Day, so create something special and enter the contest. If you have any items you would like to donate for door prizes in the name of Florida Eagles Sams, put our chapter s name on a tag and take them to the door prize people at the Samboree. The Fall Samboree at Eustis was also discussed. The theme is pirates and if we want to be in the parade, we need to start thinking now of something to do and get organized so it is not a last minute thing. Our chapter will be very busy at this rally. We will again work the SAMBO games on Tuesday and Thursday nights, plus host the Bake Walk, and hold two raffles the Gift Card Tree (don t forget to donate your $20/per rig to purchase the gift cards) and the BBQ grill/cooler combo that has been donated by the Bodnaruks. Patches from Camp Boggy Creek were handed out to all present; they are a reflection of this chapter s contribution last year. Some members brought items from the Camp s want list for Bob and Peggy Brown to take to Boggy Creek in May. If you have additional items (see page 5 of this newsletter), bring them to the May Friendship Rally. If you would like to go with the Browns on May 7 th to deliver the items, please contact Bob or Peggy via phone or . A tour has been arranged for 1:30. Thank You Friends Bob and Paula Prudhomme would like to thank all members of this chapter who prayed, visited, called, and sent cards and messages during Bob s recent knee surgery. We truly appreciate your kindness. Save the Date Ted and Julie Batchelder asked the chapter to put May 26 th on the calendar. The Batchelders will have their 25 th wedding anniversary on May 28 and will be celebrating on the 26 th from 2:00-4:00pm at Pitmasters BBQ. The location is 4425 N. Highway 17, Deland. 4 Florida Eagle Sams NEWSLETTER, Page 4 Florida Eagle Sams Friendship Rally April Friendship Rally Highlights April at the Encore Sunshine Daytona. Hosts were Lew and Danna Smith. Rigs present: Batchelder, Bradley-Foran, Brown, Huett, Jennings, Jones, Morace, Neidert, O Daniel, Poole, Powell, Smith, and Troop. Guests present: Ivalena Rackley (Julie Batchelder s mother) and Don and Dorothy McCain. The hostess gift, a $25 gift card from Cracker Barrel, was won by Alan Troop. The raffle earned $23 for the chapter. Julie Batchelder won $12.50 in the 50/50 Raffle. After a pot-luck dinner on Friday night, the chapter played card bingo and then I Need it. Guest Ivalena Rackley showed her skill in rolling many lucky 7s. Saturday morning there was a breakfast of fruit, waffles, and English muffins. We blew a circuit because of all the toasters, but improvised by scattering the appliances throughout the building. Our hosts will provide the dessert. Sunday 8:00 Coffee, leftovers, and goodbyes After the business meeting, we played indoors since it was quite smoky outdoors. Hosts Lew and Danna introduced two new games a bean-bag toss game and a washer/bean-bag toss game. Fred Poole won the putt-putt competition with a hole-in-one during the sudden-death playoff. (Actually, there was a putt-counting debacle that was settled with the playoff.) Saturday dinner was a real group effort. Each member brought their own meat and grilled it on the park s grill and the sides and desserts were provided by the hosts. A number of members participated in a Hand & Foot Tournament using Good Sam rules. Partners Lew Smith and Earlene Bradley-Foran came out on top.
