Horse Ownership: Youth may own the horse themselves, or use a family-owned horse (immediate family: mother, father, stepparent, brother, sister, grandparent, or legal guardian). Leasing: The leasing option is intended for youth who are unable to participate fully in the 4-H horse project because they do not have access to family-owned horse, provided that they manage the horse at least 75 percent of the time from May 1 through September 30. If a 4-H member leases his or her project horse to another 4-H member, the leaser forfeits the right to use the horse. Sharing project horses: Siblings may show the same horse provided they are not in the same class. If both are in the same age classification, they must decide what classes each will show in. 2 year and 3-year old Snaffle-bit: No one is allowed to ride this nominated horse except you from May 1 until the conclusion of the Kansas State Fair. This includes a trainer, parents, horseless horse member, another 4-H member, sibling, potential buyer, etc. The Jr Meat Goat Producer day at KSU, was well represented by Reno County. Lots of fun and great lessons learned.

9 RENO COUNTY SIRIUS DOG CLUB NEWSLETTER Several members of the Reno Co 4-H Sirius Dog Club and their pets visited the Sunshine Retirement home in Buhler on Saturday, March 18, Hers told about their pets and showed off each of the talented pets to the residents. There was a bunny that snuggled like a baby, a gecko that felt neat, a parakeet and a cockatiel that sat on shoulders and showed off their attempts at flight. And of course, we had many talented dogs that demonstrated their ability to back up, heel, stay, come and best of all allowed residents to pet them. Everyone is looking forward to another visit. On Sunday, March 19, 2017, the Reno Co. 4-H Sirius Dog Club hosted a Showmanship Clinic and Fun Show for all members. Experienced members in the project shared tips on grooming and dog showmanship with new members. Joy Peterson graciously judged three showmanship classes, allowing all of those who participated to gain experience and build their skills. The Showmanship Clinic helped the 4-Her's prepare for the club s Invitational Dog Show, Saturday, June 3rd at the Sunflower South Building on the Kansas State Fair Grounds. Reno County
