1 GRIGGSVILLE - PERRY ELEMENTARY & HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS A DAY WEDNESDAY, APRIL 6 th, 2016 Mikayla Smith, the 12 th grade daughter of Michael and Stephanie Smith of Perry, has been chosen as the March student of the month. Kadie works hard as both a student and an athlete. She maintains good grades while involved with sports and has a positive attitude both inside and outside of the classroom. Kadie is polite and respectful to her peers and teachers. She is also making great strides towards her goal of becoming a teacher after college. Mikayla will be greatly missed next year! Also nominated were Bryan Brown, Kourtney Harris, and Alexis Walston. There was a crock and a spatula left after the Winter Sports Banquet here at the school. Word is it that it had macaroni salad in it. If it is yours please come to the office to claim. Two representatives from the U of I College of ACES will be at Griggsville-Perry during the second homeroom tomorrow. Any sophomores or juniors wishing to speak with them can come down to the Ag Shop during that time. They are planning to talk about: the U of I Urbana-Champaign, the College of ACES, Ag Education, Crop Sciences, and a little about college in general if there is time. Juniors wanting to come will need to sign up for first lunch. FFA Members/Officers- We will be taking Chapter FFA Pictures for the yearbook TUESDAY APRIL 12 at the end of first homeroom, beginning of second homeroom. Chapter members need to have their maroon and gold chapter t-shirts for this picture. Officers should have a white collared shirt and their FFA Jacket. Officers don't need to worry about the rest of Official Dress, just have a white collared shirt and your FFA jacket! Elementary spring pictures were handed out yesterday! When you receive your portraits, select your favorites and pay online! Go to mylifetouch.com, Log in with your Portrait ID and Access Code,

2 located on your portrait package insert. Select which sheets you want to purchase and pay online. Please return unpurchased portraits to your school. KINDERGARTEN, SECOND, and SIXTH graders need to return their state DENTAL forms ASAP. Multiple letters have been sent and phone calls have been made to remind parents. Report card will be held if students are non-compliant. Contact Nurse Kayt ASAP with any and all questions. PARCC Testing has begun at Griggsville-Perry! Third and fourth grade students will be taking the PARCC test online this month. High School students enrolled in Algebra II, SPED Math III, and English III with be taking the PARCC Test the mornings of April 11th- 13th. These tests allow us to compare our students' progress to that of their same-aged peers across the state. The tests are designed to assess what students are learning in the classroom. If you have any questions about the test or testing procedures, feel free to contact Principal Jeff Bourne. Attention seniors: There will be a mandatory class meeting at 7:50 tomorrow morning. We need to vote on some budget items before senior trip and begin finalizing our trip. The meeting should not last too long. If you cannot attend, you need to check in with Mr. Apps prior to tomorrow morning. Reach Out in Pittsfield will be open on Friday evening from 5:00 8:00 p.m. and will be featuring Prom Dresses, shoes, jewelry, and ball pants. Might be worth a trip! All staff: The flower fund is getting very low. Please give your donation to the office. Play Group will be tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. Pre-K Family Night is on Tuesday, April 12 th at 6:00 p.m. Kindergarten Round Up is on Wednesday, April 20 th at 6:00 p.m.

3 Reminder: Freshman Class 4 th quarter dues are due May 1 st. Next week, April 11 th through April 14 th, the Elementary will be celebrating the WEEKOF THE YOUNG CHILD with spirit days at school. Please dress your child accordingly. We would love for everyone to participate! Dress like it; Wednesday - Walt Disney Wednesday - Dress as your favorite Disney character or wear your favorite Disney T-shirt; Thursday- Class Color Day- Wear a shirt of your designated color to match with your classmates! Class colors are Pre K-Purple, Kindergarten Red, 1 st Grade Blue, Miss Bunch s room Orange, 2 nd Grade Green, 3 rd Grade Yellow, 4 th Grade Maroon. Passavant Area Hospital along with MacMurray College of Nursing is proud to announce that we will be offering the Time To Be A Nurse High School Summer Camp once again this year. It is scheduled for July 11 14, A maximum of 12 participants will be selected from the surrounding area. There is no charge to participants for this program. Deadline for applications to the camp is Friday, May 13, Late applications will not be accepted. Additional info is available on Passavant s Facebook or by contacting the Nursing Administration office at , extension #3120. Kate has received word that Tuesday, April 26th is going to work for the NHS kids to give items to the animals. We will have to depart from the school around 12:15pm. Students will be given permission slips this week. They will also need to complete approval slips with their teachers. If there are any concerns please let me know. Illini Rural Health Clinic in Pittsfield will be offering free sports physicals on Tuesday, May 3 rd from 5-8 p.m. at our location at 640 W Washington in Pittsfield. These are free of charge to any area athlete and all participants will receive a free gift and be entered into a drawing for an IPAD Mini 4. HS students: We have an abundance of overdue books!! Griggsville-Perry CUSD #4 is accepting bids for lawn care services for the upcoming season. Lawn care includes but is not limited to keeping all grass at all school grounds in a well-groomed manner, trimming, spraying of grass on ball diamonds, spraying of weeds when necessary, and trimming of bushes. The expectation of the Griggsville-Perry School District is that all school grounds will be wellkept and attractive. Bids must be submitted to Janet Gladu, Superintendent at the Griggsville-Perry Central Office, PO Box 439, Griggsville, IL no later than 4:00 p.m., Thursday, April 14, Ineligible list is due to office no later than 10:45 a.m. on Friday. Teachers and Staff: On Saturday June 4, in the Griggsville gymnasium, we are planning a benefit for Mrs. Bingham and her family! The benefit will consist of a Co-Ed Volleyball Tournament, Silent Auction, and 50/50 raffle. There will also be vendor booths set up for selling merchandise (donating a percentage or entire profit). I am encouraging all Staff members and students to participate. You don t have to have any experience to play, it s all for a great person very close to our hearts! Teams must consist of 6-8 players. Teams may be all women but can only have 4 men max. Entry fee is $ per team. I will be creating a Facebook page and send out more information as we get closer to the date. If you would like to set up a booth, donate large item or baskets of goodies to the Auction, volunteer to help the day of, or would like to register a team, please contact me; sooner the better! 6 GRIGGSVILLE-PERRY MIDDLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS WEDNESDAY, APRIL 6, 2016 PARCC Testing began yesterday. And will continue next week on the 12 th and 13 th. The wind and cold at Tuesday night's track meet at Pikeland was brutal, but our team stayed tough. Jakob Freeman, Tate Kunzeman and Kaitlyn Leenerts brought home brought home at least one first place each. Several athletes reached personal bests. When we have official results from Pikeland we will post particular scores. Parents: 7th graders need to return sex education permission slips ASAP. 5th graders need to return human development permission slips ASAP. SIXTH graders need to return DENTAL forms ASAP. Report cards will be held. Contact Nurse Kayt ASAP with any and all questions. Join us in the FIGHT! There will be a Benefit for the Bingham family on Saturday, May 21, in the Griggsville Gymnasium.
