5 Club Chatter... Do Paso Squares by Edie Kildow April 2 was awesome! We had 9 squares. So nice to have clubs from out of the area come and visit. Darren calling and the Ferraro's cueing kept everyone on the floor. Thank you so very much.. David Cleek cued a tip and did a good job, also a couple from the Gad a Bouts called one tip and one round, they are just learning but did a great job. A special thanks to John and Wilma Johnson, couldn't have pulled it off without them, came early and decorated, set up, took cash, greeted, and brought goodies then cleaned up. Thanks to everyone for bringing food. We have 2 new members, John and Yvonne Webster, Welcome Thanks to John and Sue Seliskar for getting the badges for us, they got it all together and quite speedy, if you want any badges give them a call. May 14 and 28 Darren will be calling with the Ferraro's cueing on the 28 th. June 11, Darren will be calling. The Hoedowners by Shirley Hanrion Thanks to those who have already donated clothing for the newer dancers. One person's generous good clothing donation has already outfitted five people, and all was greatly appreciated by the receivers. Please call Shirley at at the beginning of May if you have nice clothing you would like to donate. I would appreciate not receiving clothing at any other time for the newer dancers, please due to storage. I am just the go-between to pass needed items along from donors to recipients. This is a yearly one-time campaign! We danced to Bakersfield caller, Jay Henderson in April, along with Nasser Shukayr from Texas, for two great dances. Both were cued by our own Ferraros. Nasser flew from Texas over the weekend to call three dances in California, and flew back to Texas after calling our dance to return to work on Monday morning - such dedication by a great caller. On May 17, we will host one dance to celebrate our Hoedowners' 59th Anniversary, which will be in combination with our first New Dancer Hoedown with Darren Gallina and the Ferraros. Prerounds at 1:30, Squares at 2:00. Due to our own Zion Church hall hosting the homeless shelter overflow, our one-time venue for this dance will be held at the United Church of Christ hall (old Congregational) located at Los Osos Valley Road in San Luis Obispo. Please come and dance with all the new dancers and also help us celebrate our anniversary at the same time. In June, we will return to our own dance hall at the Zion Church with Darren Gallina on June 14. Thereafter in June, we are dark to attend the Nationals in Long Beach. We would like to reflect on the recent death of a former Hoedowners' member, Bob West. Bob was always first to lend a hand and help at our dances without hesitation. He always had a kind word for everyone and we certainly miss him.

6 More Club Chatter... Pismos 'N Taws by Ray Ann Crouse I hear that no news is good news, so this letter is really good news, since I don't really have any news to report. That is most probably because Jim and I are in Arkansas right now, on our way to Memphis to visit the ghost of Elvis, and I really have no idea what is going on back home. I hope everyone is well and out dancing. I did hear some good news, that Cece Ley is back on the dance floor. What a great and speedy recovery she made. I know everyone is happy to have her back. We have two great callers lined up for our May dances. Mike Luna will be doing the calling on May 2nd and Bob Elling will be calling for us on May 16. I believe Karen MacDonald will be cueing the rounds for both of those dances. Looking ahead to June we have two more great dances planned. Michael Kellogg will be calling for us on June 6th and Dennis Mineau will be returning on June 20. These are both very popular callers, so be sure and mark your calendars. Our Monday night workshop is still going strong, so keep that in mind as well. I apologize now for anything I missed. I hope everyone is healthy and enjoying a wonderful spring. 10 The Twelve Commandments Of Square Dancing 1.You shall square dance only for the fun you will find in it. 2. You shall not be a snob, considering yourself too good to dance with any and all, sitting out the mixers, or leaving a square if you are required to dance with those you think are unworthy of your talents. YOU, too, can be the dancer to goof a square! 3. You will enjoy dancing, but not offend others. 4. You will visit other clubs and dance to other Callers/Cuers so that your opinion will be based on fact. 5. You will bathe diligently so that others may enjoy the fragrance of soap and antiperspirant. 6. You will not have a visitor arrive and sit on the sidelines, nor fail to speak to him. 7. You shall take care that your breath is not scented with an alcoholic beverage. 8. You will be faithful and loyal to your club and if you cannot do this, it will be better for you to leave the club and join one whose methods and members are more to your liking. 9. You will not harm the club by bickering and fault finding. 10. You will not forget that YOU were once a beginner. 11. You will not push, pull or drag a dancer around the square. Merely point the correct direction he/she should be taking. 12.
