5 Club Chatter... Do Paso Squares by Edie Kildow June is a busy month for us, a time where we get together, show our support and keep our club active. June 8th we will be busy working the voting booth and again on June 22nd. Hopefully all members can donate a few hours this is the only way we can add money to our treasury to keep the club active. It is time to decide if we want to host dancing at the Fair this year, what is your input on that? We need to decide soon so we can contact the Fair personnel. And see if Darren is available. Darren will be calling for us June 10th and June 24th. July 15th and the 29th is questionable because of the Fair. Misti Whitely passed away May 2nd after a long battle with cancer, our thoughts and prayers are with her husband John and family. The Hoedowners by Shirley Hanrion Bring a square or two from your club to either of our dances in June and get $1 off per person! We are dancing to Mike Wright from Martinez on June 13 with David Cleek cueing, and on June 27 Frank Lescrinier from Fullerton will call our dance with the Ferraros cueing. Please come to experience these great callers and save money by bringing at least a square from your club for our June special. We are back at the Zion Church hall again beginning in June for all our dances. We encounter the church housing the homeless overflow in the month of May each year, and had our New Dancer Hoedown as well as our 60th Anniversary celebration at another hall. It was fun to see the new dancers wearing your generous donations of "experienced clothing" for that dance. Thanks for sharing the clothes. When I first took the clothing to a Tuesday class, the ladies had fun dancing wearing petticoats over their clothes to get the feel of them while dancing. One lady even had two on at the same time. It was great to see the "free for all frenzy" as they chose their clothes. Again, thanks for the generous donations from everyone that gave some beautiful women's items. It looks like the men are on their own!
6 SQUAWS & PAS by Judy Horton May was a traveling month for many of our members. Pete Peterson, Karen Burgett and Carolyn Kite went on a 2 week cruise to Hawaii. The Sekishiros were on a trip to Texas to visit a son, wife and grandchildren. The Forresters went to Ridgecrest to attend a great grandchild's baby shower. The Hortons went on a mini vacation to Angel Camp with friends to see the area and attend a play in Columbia. Bonnie Walton spent a few days with her daughters in Sacramento. Dale Abrams performed with the Coastal Voices and Alan Hancock choir. A former round dancer member of our club, Ron Peterson, has been slowly improving from serious health problems and is able to walk either with a walker or cane and drive himself to appointments and physical therapy now. Linda, his wife, continues to work as a social worker. We hope to see some of you at the Plus Workshop with Vic Cedar on Thursday, June 3rd at 8:15 p.m. This is right after our Beginners Round Dance Class at the YMCA. Come and join the Round Dance Class from 7-8:15 p.m. if you need to brush us on foxtrot steps. On June 12th Darren Gallina will be calling our square dance. The dress for the evening is Casual Summer. On June 26th we will have our Quarterly Round Dance Party- no square dancing that night. PISMOS N TAWS CHATTER LETTER May 2010 By: RayAnn Crouse Summer is upon us! Hopefully the weather will stay as beautiful as it has been and will bring lots of visiting Square Dancers to our lovely Central Coast. If you meet any traveling dancers be sure and invite them to a dance or workshop. It would be great if you invited them to one of our dances in June we have two great dances planned. We have Ed Kremers scheduled to call on June 5th, and Dick Hodnefield on the 19th. Of course, for our round dancers, we have Karen McDonald cueing the rounds. Looking ahead to July we will be dark on the 3rd for the 4th of July holiday, but will be back on July 17th with Jay Henderson always a good dance with him calling. For those of you staying home this summer, in August we will have Eric Henerlau on the 7th and Rick Hampton on the 21st. And, don t forget our Advanced Workshop on Thursday evenings! Summer is a great time to spend with friends at a great dance!
