2 BOONE COUNTY 4-H COMMUNICATIONS NIGHT Congratulations to the following individuals who competed in the Boone County 4-H Communications Night and were chosen the champion in their age/ demonstration category. These individuals will move on to represent Boone County in the multicounty communications event this month: Olivia Rockwell, Jack Goodwin, Nina Heister, Alyssa Battaglia, Joshua Luxon, Colin Feitl, and Jared Feitl. Good luck to them! BE PREPARED FOR 4-H SUMMER PROJECTS SIGNUP It doesn t feel like it now, but summer will be here sooner than you think! That means it is time to get prepared for 4- H Summer Project sign-up! The easiest way to sign up for classes is to use our online registration system, which requires an enrollment form to be on file and an online profile established. Students that have 4-H in their classroom are not necessarily enrolled as an individual 4-H member. Enrollment forms may be obtained at the Extension office or online at Also, an enrollment form must be turned in by May 2, 2016 to participate in the summer projects. Any enrollment forms received after May 2 will be noted and cannot signup for classes until May 17. If you have completed and submitted a 4-H enrollment form for the 2016 program year, you will already have an account set up in our online system. When you created your account, a letter (or if you provided one) was sent with your login name and temporary password. However, we realize you may have forgotten or misplaced this information. Now is the time to call the Extension office at , or dl_ces_boone@ .uky.edu to retrieve your login and password information. Please do this now so you will be all set and ready to go when summer projects signup time rolls around. Did you know that April 23 is National Zucchini Bread Day? Here is a recipe from the Nebraska Cooperative Extension: CLOVER BUDS Come join the fun with us at our meeting on Friday, April 1 at 7:00 pm at the Extension Office! PAWS AND CLAWS CAT CLUB The Paws and Claws Cat Club met on March 9. Representatives from two non-profit cat rescues shared information about their organizations. Both did an outstanding job. The Cat Club is sending money to them, which was earned during 2015 from snack and water sales. This money will be used for spaying or neutering cats. We will meet on April 20 instead of the 13th this month, since that is spring break week and many members will be out of town. We will have a lesson titled "Cats and More Cats". Plans will be made for us to have a booth at the Boone County Community Fair on Saturday, May 7th. We will be promoting 4-H and the 4-H Cat Club at this event. Pictured: Nancy Hancock from "Little Orphans Kitten Rescue" (LOKR) and Susan Daniels from "THANKS" shared information about their rescue work. Pictured: Samantha Notton, Josie Bronk, and Lucy Chaplin bake up some spring cookies. EXTREME ENTOMOLOGY Come join us as we will meet on Mondays April 4 and May 9 from 6:30-7:45 pm!
