1 THE VETTE SETTE President s Corner Spring is upon us once again! Time to get those Classic Glass Corvettes out of mothballs, bathed and shined for the upcoming Car Show season!!! I will start on a sad note. Ed Tillirson from Peach State Corvette Association in Fayetteville passed away recently. He was a class act and a very active part of the Corvette community. Ed will be sorely missed and leave a void that will be hard to fill. The Board of Directors has approved a donation to the Hospice where Ed was being cared for at his passing. Since Hospice does not normally receive funding from the government and relies solely on private donations, I feel that Ed would be pleased with that decision. Ed lived the way he wanted to be remembered and he was very highly thought of and was a Class Act. Now we move on to a more upbeat note. We had a great time on the Valentine s Cruise through northwest Georgia. We had a great turnout and very decent weather for the cruise. A great time was had by all and a delicious dinner at D. Morgan s in Cartersville. One thing we did find was that we need to practice more on passing information on back through the group so that everyone has the correct instructions on straight, left, right, etc We had 5 Corvettes participate in the East Marietta Little League parade this year. They were celebrating those who have helped keep the park and program running great for as long as 40 years. Our very own Bridget Stephens uncle was one of those who rode in the Corvettes and was celebrating 40 years!!! Congratulations and keep up the good work! A Monthly Publication For The Members of The Volume XV Issue 3 March 2005 Page 1 As I finish my column, we are preparing for the Head to the Highlands IV the weekend of March 19/20. All should have a great time, and if anyone doesn t have a good time they aren t trying. We are hoping for Mother Natures blessing of a dry weekend. We will let you know afterwards if we were successful. The NCM Cruise is rapidly approaching, and we are counting the days. We are looking forward to being waited on hand and foot Plus the added feature of spending quality time with Corvette friends! We will have pictures posted to our website and with us at the next events afterwards. Jack Kreger has pretty much buttoned up the AJC Auto Show event had we are hoping to have a great response by getting more new members and getting out the word and flyers for our Bogey s and Super Vette Saturday shows. Speaking of Super Vette Saturday, we still are planning the event and have got some new surprises that should take the show to the next level. Check with Gail Smith for more information on the jobs that we still need assistance with and when the next planning meeting is to be held. Also, we will be looking for donations for door prizes and goody bags. Make sure you tell everyone you know about the show and I am cordially inviting all of our sister clubs to join us for the Friday night sock hop. After all. It s about the people who love the car! Every day is a Ragtop day! Joe

Ray Board Members John Iroff Jack Kreger Bob Renneke Barry Tomlinson NCM Ambassador Ron Floyd Webmaster Bridget Stephens Newsletter Editor Cindy Owens I want to wish Joe Owens and Robin Floyd a Happy Birthday. Happy Birthday! As always, if you have any news worthy articles, or just something to put into the newsletter, send it to me at cindyowens@mindspring.com. As Always, Have a SUNNIE day! Valentine s Cruise Cindy February 19, 2005 turned out to be a great day for a 100- mile cruise with 17 corvettes and 31 people in tow. We all met at the Glade Road exit on 75 and proceeded up to White, GA. This is where the Historic Pine Log Loop is located. We traveled ¾ of the entire loop on our journey. There was plenty of scenery and also an unexpected right hand turn that we are told that some people didn t make. There were unusual farms along the way including Possum Trot Farm and a Pallet Farm. We finally made it to Barnsley Gardens where we had a special guided tour by the gardens own historian, Clent Coker. He was very interesting and informative. After wandering the grounds for a little while longer, we were back in the saddle to head to our next stop. Editor s Corner By Cindy Owens Hello Corvette Lovers! This month a group of us participated in our Valentines Cruise to Barnsley Gardens. We had a wonderful time and most of us are still talking about how great the food was at D.Morgans in Cartersville. The pictures from the Cruise have been posted to the Classic Glass Website on the events page. The club will be participating in the Little League Parade in Marietta this coming weekend and then on to Highlands, NC for our 4 th annual Head to the Highlands Weekend. From the rumors I have heard, this trip will be the one not to miss. Joe and I made a scouting trip to the North Georgia Mountains last weekend. We were making a dry run of the Georgia Wine Trail. We found 3 excellent wineries and all 3 of them said they would welcome the group with open arms. One of the Wineries even said they would set up a picnic for us. How cool is that? We are looking at free weekends for doing this. The months of June, July and August are all pretty much open currently. I wanted to go in August but it was brought up that it might be too hot. Of course, this is when the grape harvest takes place and there are grape festivals to celebrate. Anyway, if ANYONE has any preferences, please let us know. Page 2 Our next stop was the Covered Bridge in Euharlee, GA. A great photo opportunity for those in attendance! You would never think there was so much history here in Georgia. Now on to our last stop for dinner. This stop was at D.Morgans, a quaint restaurant in downtown Cartersville. The food was great and the atmosphere fantastic. Definitely a place to put on your I ve got to try it once list. During our drive, Joe and I had asked everyone to answer a couple of questions that we had put in our directions packet. I am amazed at how serious our cruisers took this. We had 3 clear winners to our quiz and they each received a Chocolate Valentines Heart for their participation. If you did not attend, you missed a great trip. Teddy Bear Collection in progress We are collecting teddy bears for the Cobb County Police Department. They carry them in the police cruisers to give to small children in a crisis. They should be about 6 inches in size, just the size for little arms to hold tightly. Bring your final donations to the April club meeting and we will deliver them to the Cobb County Police Department. **We are challenging other Corvette clubs to collect stuffed animals for their local police and fire departments. They need these items year round, not just at Christmas.

3 As the Steering Wheel Turns By Joe Owens Wow, another 30 days has gone by time flies when you are having fun in a Corvette! Sunnie is very happy with her new rotors. They look pretty good and they are drilled/slotted and the center is, of course, yellow. Now time for some new shoes I guess Blue will want the same treatment. I will contact the company and price the ones for her. I did put a new chrome ACCEL coil on and she seems to have some additional pep in her step. I have more chrome and blue stuff to go on, just have to set the time aside. I guess now with warmer weather coming I will be able to do it. On the Tequila front, we have basically given up on the 2005 model year. First GM holds the beige and gray tops and then drops them for the 2005 production year. Even if they did start them today, the Z51 option is now on constraint. We have told the dealer that he should just make this a 2006 order and we will hope for the best. I am glad to see other C6 s in the club already and we will have lots of company once we get Tequila. We will see you next month with more tales from the Busted Knuckle Garage. Corvette Racing Update C6R Corvette Racing Sebring and I would suspect this would hold true the remainder of the year. Good Luck Corvette Racing!!! We are all behind you! Upcoming 2005 ALMS Race Schedule 3/19 SebringRaceway Speed Channel 4/17 Road Atlanta CBS Sports Benefit Dinner There is a benefit dinner for the Foster Care Support Foundation. The dinner is Friday, April 29, 2005 at 7 PM. There will be a silent auction, a live auction, dinner, dancing and special guests. If you are interested contact Debbie Beddingfield at Debbie.Conrad@cox.com or call Relay for Life Please join those in your community and support the Relay for Life sponsored by the American Cancer Society. For more information, check Cobb County is May 13, The C6R will be making its debut March 19 at the 12 hours of Sebring in Sebring, FL. This new car has some pretty big shoes to fill with the C5R and its drivers winning 35 out of 55 ALMS events and winning Sebring class wins 3 years in a row. They also have finished 1-2 in GTS class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. New this year is not only a new racecar, but also a new class. GTS class is gone and now we are in GT1. The four classes are now LMP1 (Le Mans Prototype), LMP2, GT1 (Grand Touring), and GT2. This should provide some renewed interest in the ALMS racing. PCM, a privateer, will be taking on the factory backed Corvette Team in the 2004 C5R car. This team will have their hands full, but they know the car is tried and true. Also, this year, The Corvette Corral will require participants purchase their tickets through IMSA. If you do not have an IMSA purchased ticket, you will not be able to access the corral. This is the case at Page 3

4 Meeting Minutes from March 8th Meeting Volume XV Issue 3 March :33pm - Welcome Joe Owens called the meeting to order and welcomed every one to the meeting. Joe announced that Ed Tillirson, a long time friend of many people at the club, had passed away from cancer. His viewing is tonight and the funeral will be Wednesday in Jonesboro.
