Abigail is the 15-year-old daughter of Brandie and William Noble of Clinton and has been a seven year member of 4-H. She currently serves as her club s President and attends Clinton High School. Abigail joined 4-H when she was 8 years old after the fun she had with clover kids. When asked to describe 4-H, Abigail talked about the experience you can get meeting new people and expanding your horizons on what you can do. She says it is a great opportunity to get involved in the community and improve leadership and social skills. Abigail says young people should join 4-H for the opportunities it gives, the fun you'll have and the perspective it'll provide any young mind. If there isn't a project for what you want, you can make it. imagination and creativity. Throughout her seven years in 4-H, she has attended 4-H camp, won 1st Place at the State 4-H Public Speaking Competition in Extemporaneous Speaking, and completed projects in dogs, clowning, sewing, gardening, hams, sportfishing, rabbits, photography, self-determined, public speaking, and scrapbooking. Out of all the projects she has done, her favorite would have to be clowning. "It was a way to make people smile, and be fun and creative at the same time," Abby said. With all these great experiences in 4-H it may seem like Abby has done all there is to do, but she has plans for more! She wants to use the skills she has learned in 4-H and apply it to her clubs and activities in high school. She also plans on trying more projects and ways to help her community. Her goal is to expand her horizon and to see every opportunity there is. The Clinton Rockets chose Abby to be the 4-Her of the month because she is passionate for her club and the program. She has served as Club President, County Council Vice-president, Club Secretary, Club Treasurer, and Club Reporter. She loves 4-H and is a great role model to all younger members. Fit is attractive and comfortable. 5. Accessories coordinate well and are appropriate for the activity. B. The Outfit for Intended Purpose 1. Factors considered in selection were thought through (such as movement, warmth, comfort, etc.) 2. Reasons for selection reflect understanding of the important factors involved and their relationship to fibers, fabric, design, construction and fit. 3. Ensemble is appropriate to age of individual and the occasion it is chosen for. 4. Fiber content is appropriate for type of outfit. 5. Outfit can be adapted to wear for other occasions. C. The Individual 1. Good posture and balance. 2. Entrant appears at ease and presents outfit with pride. 3. Good grooming. D. The Money Spent 1. The amount of money spent was justified both in terms of the member's needs and in relation to the needs of the whole family. 2. The decision to buy this particular outfit was made after a careful consideration of the price in relation to quality, the type and the number of wearings anticipated. If the member has special requirements, which affect the price (example: hard to find size in shoes), this should be explained and taken into consideration. 3. Construction was considered. Garment has smooth outer appearance. Seams, patterns and plaids match. Fabric and style are compatible. 11
