2 H L CONGRATULATIONS Cer ficates presented in assembly this week: C W Piano Prep Test L H Grade 2 Modern Dance with Dis nc on 4S presented a lovely assembly about the Egyp ans on Wednesday a li le gruesome in parts but informa ve and funny! Well done to Mrs Springer and the Form. Many thanks to the good number of parents who a ended. There were three different days of top quality sport on Friday, Saturday and Sunday last weekend. 38 children from Year 5 up competed in IAPS County Athle cs at the Julie Rose Stadium in Ashford. There were 20 Personal Bests and medals won by: B S G G K (U12 100m) F W (U12 High Jump) O P (U14 Long Jump) O W (U m) O P (U14 200m) L T (U14 Javelin) C C (U13 Javelin) G K (U12 Long Jump) Oliver, Louis and George have qualified for the Na onals in Birmingham on 2nd July. Well done to all who took part. On Saturday, Our Girls Rounders team reached the final of our annual Fes val and beat Marlborough House 5½ 3½ in the final, avenging last year s defeat. The girls performed brilliantly, well done to: O A, L W, M F, L O, I S, G T, K T, F W, L W And so to Sunday when the Pre Prep v Prep Parents Cricket Match saw Pre Prep win on the last ball. Not a catch dropped nor window smashed! Thanks to all who par cipated As I write, we look forward to the Summer Fair tomorrow. 3 F ' D C M The Father's Day cricket match took place last Sunday. It was a grey day. The standard of cricket however was impressive with a number of spectacular catches and some impressive bowling, ba ng and fielding. The Prep Dads ba ed first and scored more slowly than in previous years against ght bowling with captain Nigel Bateman top scoring with 34 and notable contribu ons from David Percival (23) and Dave Morgan (14). Two wickets for Mike Traill, Liam Spillane, Andrew Dickinson and Chris Falkous. Final total was 141 all out from just over 22 overs (leaving nearly 3 overs unused a cardinal sin in this form of game). The Pre Prep Dads made a great start with the first ball being smashed for four by James Evans. Unfortunately his wickets were rearranged by his second ball. John Hoare came to the crease and ba ed at a sensible restrained pace (so much so his captain wondered whether he realised it was a 25 over game) and took his score calmly to 30. At the other end wickets fell regularly with contribu ons from Phil Hassell (14), Liam Spillane (21) removed by a fantas c one handed diving catch by Andy Owen and Mike Traill (18 not out). Andrew Davidson was removed by a spectacular catch from Stuart Fyffe (who had kindly stepped in at the last minute and made some amazing stops as wicket keeper). David Percival and Eric Sandor took two wickets each. John Hoare came back to the crease (having re red at 30) when the last wicket fell and brought the scores level with one ball remaining in the final over, the last ball went for four and the match was won by Pre Prep gaining revenge for losses in the two previous games. The standard of cricket was impressive with some stellar performances from newcomers par cular note to be given to Chris Falkous who did everything pre y well in spite of saying that he had only played three mes before, Liam Spillane for two great catches (bruises to show for it) and a few lusty blows, Ed Andrews for not hur ng himself, Andy Owen for a fantas c one handed diving catch and Stuart Fyffe who stepped in to make up the teams and took a fantas c catch. As far as I am aware, not a single catch was dropped which is pre y impressive in any game. Thank you very much to Nigel for his captaincy and to Graham and Ollie for their umpiring which was fantas c and consistent (a far cry from previous years when hasty explana ons of when to call wide had to be given before each new umpire started!). Special men on must go to John Hoare who, once he remembered that it was a 25 over game, ba ed very well and eventually won the game for the Pre Prep off the last ball of the match. I know how frustrated he has been in previous years to have not scored any runs so well done John and thank you for taking us to victory a er losses in the last two games. Thanks also to the mums/wives (and some of the dads for their great help with the tea and BBQ) and to the Headmaster and Bursar for le ng us play.
