3 CONGRATULATIONS to the newly elected and appointed Lodge Officers of Langundowi for the Lodge year. They will be installed at the Fall Conclave. They are: Lodge Chief Membership Vice-Chief Lodge Secretary Lodge Treasurer Chris Pasky Matt Morgan Garrett Holden Adam Crosby Years ago in the Valley of the Delaware, lived a peaceful tribe of Indians, Lenni Lenape was their name. Deer, bear, wildcat, and panther in the forest they hunted. On the river peacefully they fished and paddled. Around their busy village wigwams the chase they followed. Many moons they live contented. Springtime blossomed into summer, summer into autumn ripened; autumn died on winter s bosom. A great cloud arising soon changed this peaceful life. Neighboring tribes and distant enemies came and disturbed their hunting grounds. Then Chingachgook, the aged and wise Chieftain inquired who will go to carry the warning to all Delaware brothers, but none wished to make the journey. Then spoke up Uncas, the worthy son of the chief. I am ready, send me on this errand if we are to remain a nation. Chingachgook and young Uncas started on their long trail and in every tribal village they found some who would spend themselves in service of others. At last the fierce marauders were forced back to their own land, and peace was declared. Those who offered their services to the tribe so cheerfully were promoted to the most respected places by the Chieftain. As a lasting memory the wise chief bound those warriors in a great and honored order into which can only be admitted those who truly cheerfully serve others. Brotherhood of Cheerful Service called by the Lenni Lenape, Wimachtendienk, Wingolauchsik, Withahemui. The moral of the condensed legend above: your fellow scouts selected you into this brotherhood. You successfully passed an Ordeal proving worthiness to become a member of our lodge. Our lodge now needs your help to induct new members, will you be like Uncas and help with this errand? 4 Publications Committee Do you like writing or taking pictures? Do you have that sense that helps reach people in writing or in pictures? Do you have the journalism merit badge? If the answers are yes to any of these, have you ever considered cheerfully serving on the Publications Committee for Langundowi Lodge? The publications committee helps to provide communication for all lodge members as well as informing the non-members of French Creek Council what is actually going on in the lodge. Our committee focuses primarily in three main areas: writing and taking pictures for the Langundowi Log newsletter, writing and publishing articles/pictures for the French Creek Council, and developing promotional flyers for all areas of scouting if asked. We are looking for writers, photographers, and even website developers. If interested in joining or getting involved with the Publications Committee, feel free to contact Scott Morgan, Publications Adviser at Pow Wow Pavilion We have had two work days on the pavilion so far and it is now well on its way (see pictures below). Stay tuned to our Langundowi 46 facebook page for more info on upcoming work days this summer. A good time of fun and fellowship was had by all. We even had one of our own dress in his regalia and dance at the Pow Wow. Next year we should be in our OA Pavilion building. Lodge Policies Leaving Camp: Please note that is the policy of French Creek Council and Langundowi Lodge that anyone (youth or adult) leaving a lodge event must sign out at the Administration

Any youth (under 18 years of age) must have parental permission in writing in order to be able to leave camp before the event is scheduled to be over.

5 Lodge Policies Leaving Camp: Please note that is the policy of French Creek Council and Langundowi Lodge that anyone (youth or adult) leaving a lodge event must sign out at the Administration Building desk before leaving and sign back in upon returning. Any youth (under 18 years of age) must have parental permission in writing in order to be able to leave camp before the event is scheduled to be over. This permission must be presented to the Lodge Adviser upon arrival at camp. This written permission must include time and date of departure, time and date of return, and with whom the youth will be traveling. This must be signed and dated by the youth s parent or guardian. The Lodge Policy on Senior Citizens: Any active Lodge member over the age of 65 may attend any Langundowi Lodge activity free of charge. There are only a few things that must be done to qualify. First, their dues for the current year must be paid. Second, they must send in a reservation form by the deadline (minus the fee). This policy applies only the Langundowi Lodge events, and is not applicable to the Section Conclave, NOAC, or guests. The Lodge Policy on Smoking: The designated smoking area during Lodge functions is the front seat of your personal vehicle, butts in the ashtray. The cooperation of all smokers is greatly appreciated. Remember there is a legal age for the purchase of tobacco products. The Lodge Policy on Pocket Flap Sales: The official Lodge pocket flap will be available for sale at each lodge function during the operating hours of the trading post. An active member may purchase one (1) pocket flap at each lodge function he attends. Members may also purchase one (1) pocket flap at the time they pay their annual dues. The purpose of this restriction is to encourage member participation. The pocket flap is to serve as a method of identifying the members of Langundowi. The Lodge Policy on Refunds: Reservations for Lodge functions can be fully refunded only if they are cancelled on or before the reservation deadline. Section Conclaves and National Conferences are handled in much the same manner. "A big hi to all. My name is John Galmish. What am I here for, well, my job is to help write the Langundowi lodge book which National is asking all the lodges to do for There is one thing that I need help with, and that is info for the book. If you have any historical information or know someone who has any historical lodge information that you would like to share with me in order to help complete the lodge book, please me ( comicsman@gmx.com ) and my adviser Todd Rogers ( trogers17@gmail.com ). I would like to get some people with some background in scouting, such as people who have had their grandparents and other people in the Lodge, to help me with this as this is a big project. Yet, anyone with info can help me in some way. I would like help from anyone, as many hands make light work. 6 Section Conclave We had 31 brothers from our lodge go to section conclave at Camp Olmsted. We participated in the ceremonial team competition, Gold and Silver Arrow games, got to attend a few training sessions, got to preview the newly proposed Brotherhood Ceremony and give our feedback, and had lots of great entertainment. Our chief, Adam Crosby participated in the Swamp-a-thon along with NE Region Chief Tyler Allen. Wyona Lodge had their Drum Team and a couple of their Indian Dancers perform. But, above all, we had a great time of fellowship with brothers from the other lodges that we haven t seen for quite a while. And yes, there were patches to purchase, bid on, and trade from all of the lodges. It was a good weekend. Next year, it will be hosted by Wyona lodge at Camp Lavigne in Benton, PA and will be Native American themed. Lodge Adviser s Minute Welcome to our new Langundowi members! Hope you enjoyed your induction weekend. Our Fall Conclave will be much more fun and the food will be plentiful! I would also like to congratulate the new Brotherhood members that sealed their membership during the Spring Conclave and the Ordeals. During Spring Conclave, nine arrowmen were elected to Vigil Honor. They are: Alex Bartlebaugh, Charles Donnelly, Richard Herbold, Garrett Holden, Mark Lewis, Bradley Montgomery, Scott Morgan, Christopher Pasky, and Taylor Sisson.
