4 Welcome to our First annual Bull sale We at Palmer Charolais are excited to invite all of our past customers and potential new buyers to our first annual on farm bull sale. We believe the bulls we have raised and selected for our herd have strong maternal traits which allow us to incorporate calving ease and performance into the bulls on offer sale day. We pride ourselves on commitment to our customers, and we stand behind what we sell. Purebred Charolais have been raised on this farm for over 35 years and with a strong commitment and passion for cattle we will be raising Charolais for generations to come. A note about the bulls: The bull calves ran with their mothers until Thanksgiving, at which time they were weaned, given all booster and vitamin shots and weaning weights were recorded. Also, there will be a present day weight available on sale day. They were then placed on a growing ration (NOT a fattening ration). We develop our bulls so they can go to work for you. We offer bulls that are horned or polled, have top performance, calving ease and longevity. After the sale we prefer the bulls to stay here with us until it is time for them to go to work. We provide free board and delivery up to 300 km and assistance will be given to those beyond the 300km radius. Insurance will be available sale day. We ask that all bulls staying with us be insured. Bulls that stay at Palmer Charolais with no insurance are at BUYER S RISK. We will do our best to keep every bull safe and sound but there are unforeseen circumstances that can happen. We would like to start by thanking Palmer Charolais for inviting us to be a part of their sale. We have been in the cattle business for over 30 years with our start being in Horned Herefords. In 1994, we introduced Red Angus into our operation with a select group of cows from McDougall dispersal. These strong maternal cows were the foundation of our Red Angus herd. Recently, we were fortunate enough to be able to purchase high quality Black Angus females from Mountain View Farms located at Swan River, MB. This seed stock operation has supplied superior genetics, in the Angus breed, across North America. We have strived to build a breeding program that produces quality livestock for a wide variety of customer needs. We breed our cattle herd for structural soundness, udders, production, performance, and overall quality. The direct results of these superior cows are the bulls and heifers we have on offer for your selection. We maintain a high standard herd health program. All cattle have been vaccinated for everything that they need. For a complete listing of vaccinations feel free to contact us. 4

5 Our strong set of bulls has added muscle, excellent feet, and freedom of movement. With their future in mind, these bulls have been fed a high roughage TMR ration. The bulls are hard muscled and ready to go to work. The heifers we have for you are a sound group of well balanced females displaying depth, quality, and excellent hair coats. We believe they would be a great addition to anyone s herd. I know when Velon Herback and Larry Nielson decided to have a bull sale they were both nervous about this new venture. These are hardworking guys who make their living in agriculture. They both grain farm sizeable acres and run many cows as well. It is always a little stressful when you do something you haven t done before, but both of these operations were ready for this. Those that come to the sale will be pleased with the quality that can be found in each of the breeds. Palmer Charolais has been well known in the Charolais Industry for 35 years. When Bob and Monette Palmer started the cowherd they spared no expense in purchasing the best females they could find. Now that Velon has taken over the reins he has the same philosophy in finding and buying the best herdbulls he can to continually improve the quality of bull he is providing his customers. These Charolais bulls are good growth bulls with hair and meat and are bred to not give you any problems, calving or otherwise. Charolais have proven to be the terminal sire of choice and here are some choice sires. Larry Nielson started in the Red Angus business and has built a very solid cow base over the years. He was a regular at Regina Bull Sale taking a string there and selling the rest off the farm. A few years ago he decided to diversify and added a couple of groups of high quality cows. One was from the famed Mountain View herd that dispersed in Manitoba in 2010 and the other was half of the Valley Lodge Cattle Co. cowherd. He purchased a top end herd, and with the added strength of the bull power he used the quality of this bull sale offering is deep. I invite all of you, whether you need an Angus bull to make a great cowherd or a Charolais bull to make the market topping buckskin or silver feeder calves, to come and see for yourself. TerMs & CoNdiTioNs TERMS: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable immediately after the sale in Canadian funds. All settlements must be made with the sale clerks before cattle will be released. The right of property will not pass until final payment is made. BIDDING: Each animal will sell to the highest bidder. Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale. DISPUTES: Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer s decision is final. ANNOUNCEMENTS: Announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are cautioned to pay close attention to announcements. PURCHASER S RISK: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser s risk for a reasonable length of time. All animals left with the seller must be insured. CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION: Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Charolais Association or Canadian Angus Association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer after payment has been made. DELIVERY: Assistance will be given in making delivery after the sale. The purchaser agrees shipping arrangements will be at the convenience of the seller, but will be as soon as practical after the sale, at the buyer s risk. BREEDER GUARANTEE BULLS: Should any bull fourteen months of age or over, fail to prove a breeder after being used on cows known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six months following the date of purchase or six months after the bull has reached fourteen months of age. The seller has the right and privilege of six months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze. EXCEPTION GUARANTEE: In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproductive techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void. The seller is not responsible for damage caused by foreign bodies after the animal has been sold or for sickness not apparent at sale time. In no event shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price. ACCIDENTS: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the sale manager, auctioneer, or sellers assume any responsibility and disclaim any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of accident or loss of property. By Livestock is only acting as a medium between the buyer and seller and is not responsible for failure on the part of either party to live up to their obligations; or for the truth of any warrantees or representations, expressed or implied. By Livestock assumes no obligation to enforce or collect monies between parties. By Livestock assumes no responsibility for any credit extended by the seller to the buyer. Any legal action taken in exceptional cases must be between the buyer and the seller. The buyer must look to the seller for fulfilment of all guarantees and representations. INSURANCE: Insurance will be available sale day. PICTURES: By attending the sale you are granting permission for your picture to be used for promotional and advertising purposes relating to the sale. 12
