1 Issue No 18 3 rd February 2017 Post Card Competition We are asking our students to design a postcard to represent the Trinity values. You can use anything that you wish! The deadline for entries will be Monday 20 th February at 4.00pm! All completed entries will need to be given to Mrs Rayfield in G6. Please see our poster on page 7. KS4 Curriculum Evening We are looking forward to seeing Year 8 and 9 students and parents at our KS4 Curriculum Evening on Tuesday 7 th February. The evening runs from 6.00pm to 8.00pm. During the evening, you will be able to visit classrooms to view presentations on individual subjects, as well as a presentation in the main hall on the KS4 curriculum as a whole and the process for making choices. The subject presentations will be repeated all evening. The presentation in the main hall will be delivered at 6.15pm and again at 7.15pm. Please access the school building via the student entrance. Refreshments will be provided in the dining room by the Friends of Trinity School. On the evening parking will be available via gate 1 (bus parking and the car park behind this) and gate 2 (the Wilmot Dixon car park). Please remember that the purpose of the evening is for you to find out general information about subject content and assessment, as well as the choice process, rather than discussions about individual students and suitability for specific courses. FAME! Make a note in your diary for our FAME production: 8 th 10 th February 2017 Time: 7.00pm pm Adults: 4.00 Concessions: 2.50 To purchase tickets please complete and return the form on page 6. Parking Please can we ask parents not to drop off and pick up students in gate 2 or the Trinity staff car park. Some parents have been turning around and dropping students in front of gate 2, which is very dangerous. Gate 1, where the buses turn, is available for use for all parents. Please also be considerate to our local residents when stopping/parking in nearby roads. We have had several complaints regarding driveways being blocked. Staff Q+A Each week we will be doing a short Q+A with staff members. This week is Mr Holvey, our science teacher who joined us in January. Role: Teacher of Science Favourite subject when you were at school: Enjoyed PE very much and played rugby a lot. Hobbies: Being a full time parent! Mountain biking in Bedgebury. Favourite novel: It s Not Rocket Science by Ben Miller. Teacher Comment: Mr Holvey is really enjoying his time at the school and says the kids are brilliant. He loves the friendly atmosphere and how welcoming the staff and students are.
2 Prayer request: We pray for Mr Holvey as he continues to settle into the Trinity family. KS4 Assembly During form times and in key stage 4 assembly these past two weeks, Year 9 and 10 students have been looking at British Values, with a specific focus on the values of tolerance and mutual respect. Key areas have been discussed and debated around the differences between extremist views and acts of terrorism. Our KS4 Photographers Design Museum Trip - Thursday 26 th January Last Thursday the Year 10 Product Design students and a group of KS3 Gifted and Talented Design and Technology students visited the brand new Design Museum in Kensington, an extraordinary piece of architecture and design in itself. While we there, we visited two exhibitions, the first was the Beazley Design of the Year exhibition, where students had the chance to learn about the best product and architectural designs of 2016 and then vote for their favourite. The second was called Designer, Maker, User; a display of a variety of iconic designs and the relationship between designer, maker and user. Many of the iconic designs that are studied and examined at GCSE were in the exhibition, giving students the opportunity to see manufacturing techniques and the products in the flesh. Maths Puzzle Termly Maths Puzzle Thank you to all those who have submitted entries for the first Termly Maths Puzzle. The deadline for entries has now passed. Information regarding the entrants and winners will be published next week with the next puzzle coming out after the February half term break. Message to Parents UK Power Network has informed us that the footpath which runs between the traffic lights at Seal Hollow Road to Childsbridge Lane
3 will be shut from 04/02/2017 for up to 21 days. This is to fix a high voltage cable fault. Sporting News! Rugby season The rugby season is fast approaching for schools in the area, rugby club has been running since the beginning of the year. Our students are able to grasp rugby very quickly and our success in rugby is undoubtedly known within the area. Our success during Wednesday s match relit the rugby for our Year 9 boys and from January this will be one of our main focuses to lift the name of rugby once again. The provisional dates are below. If you want to try out a new sport or once had love for the sport, come along on a Monday and/or Thursday till 5.00pm. Year 8 rugby Year 8 boys and girls rugby Rugby Year 9 Congratulations to Year 9 who have been interviewed by Kent Sport through our Sportivate funding that Trinity gained to enable our Rugby Club to run two nights a week. Our Year 9 s have progressed as a team allowing set practices to become second nature, adopting tactics to outwit their opponents and to break down individual skills. On Monday, Kent Sport tweeted a special thanks to all boys involved ending with good luck for the up and coming season. Rugby Year 9 and 10 Year 10 rugby Practice matches after school on Mondays ensure that you all have full squads, this will be excellent preparation for the leagues after half term. Rugby boots and gum shield are a must. Rugby Year 7 Boys and Girls The talent in Year 7 is incredible from those who have played rugby before and from those who have only ever played tag. This is an exciting team and we are looking forward to the coming weeks. Sports Ambassadors Congratulations to all sports ambassadors that were able to complete the brief of collecting sufficient numbers for their Houses. This made a massive impact. Please can you make sure that you are in S6 every Tuesday promptly at 12.50pm so we are able to go through the First Aid module. This is imperative. Year 7 & 8 Netball Fixture Please make a note in the diary that a netball match has been arranged with Bennett on Wednesday 8 th February, due to the Fame production we are discussing times so this has no impact on students that are in the production. Social Media Please start following us on All the latest news is sent, event updates and fixtures released. Follow our student s success. Tennis Nets The PE department are trying to source some freestanding tennis nets. At Trinity we are very fortunate to have two courts specifically for tennis in the spring and summer terms. If you know of anyone who has any second hand tennis nets and freestanding posts

Generally fortnightly thereafter. Looking forward to seeing you, contact Jacquie Bignell, jlbignell@sky.com with any questions. Chaplaincy: From his abundance we have all received one gracious blessing after another. John 1:16 This short reading is one that I love sometimes translated as grace upon grace, it reminds us how much God does for us and how much we have to be grateful for. At Trinity, where we are literally spending our days in a building that has come from the prayers of many and God s grace, this reminds us to pray for: Giving thanks for: The chance to work, celebrate and worship together Our monthly prayer meeting where people gather together to give thanks to God and to pray for our school community. Praying for: The upcoming production of Fame All the Year10 s as they receive their first results Many thanks and God bless, Alice
