These pavers, when installed, will enhance the area around the monument honoring our military members and veterans. 7 P A G E 7 GOLF From the Golf Shop Weekly Golfer Reminder For the next few weeks, we will be exploring Golf's New Rules changes for 2019 The New Local Rule will Provide an alternative to Stroke and distance relief. For a ball that is lost outside a Penalty area or out of bounds This new Local Rule will be available beginning January 1, 2019, here at Kelly Greens. 1. DETERMINE SPOT where your ball went out of bounds or is likely to be lost. 2. FIND NEAREST FAIRWAY EDGE no closer to the hole. 3. DROP YOUR BALL at knee height, adding two strokes. If the Local Rule is in effect, you can still take stroke and distance relief, but you will now have the following additional option that comes with a penalty of two strokes: Please see the USGA website for compete details. This Local Rule is not intended for higher levels of play, such as professional or elite amateur level competitions. 11 P A G E 11 GOLF Men s 9 Hole AssociAtion Thursday s Sign-up in the Pro Shop Play from any Tee of your choice Prime Rib Dinner & Prizes Tuesday, February 26th 6:00 p.m. **February dinner included with dues As we welcome everyone back to Kelly Greens for another season, please be reminded there has been changes made to our Golf Handicap System. Kelly Greens is now using the GHIN System. Many of you use the same system at your summer location. If you plan to participate in any Kelly Greens Club Tournaments or Leagues (Not Men s 9 or Couples leagues), you must link your current GHIN number to KG. If you do not have a GHIN number you will need to establish one. In both instances, please contact the Golf Shop for direction. The club incurs a cost from the USGA for each active member in our system as does your summer location. If you plan to just play Fun Golf and do not require the handicap needed to play in KG Tournaments/ Leagues, please advise the Golf Shop and be added to the inactive list, incurring no annual charges. It is a win-win, you have fun and the club saves money. The Kelly Greens Handicap Committee

Dress Code Please review dress code (including no cargo shorts, men shirts tucked in) in your community directory. We especially do not want to draw attention to any of your guests who may not be aware. Please remind your guests. Bag Storage Members As you may remember in the past, some golf bags were chewed by rodents trying to get to the food/candy stored in pockets. Please remove any and all temptations from your golf bag. DIVOTS AND BALL MARKS are all golfers responsibility. Please fix & fill. Share with your guests so we may keep our golf course in great condition. League Sign-ups: Men s League (Wednesday) Deadline Saturday noon Ladies, Ladies 9 & Men s 9 (Thursday) Deadline Sunday noon Couples 9 Hole (Tuesday) Deadline Thursday noon Feel free to take a glance at your community directory for other information pertaining to golf. There are three baskets, donated by Gwen Terwilliger, to support the local Ronald McDonald House. Hello Members! It s been an eventful week on the courts. Our Silver last week, short again due to injuries, sickness and members traveling home is a leading reason for the subbing. However, the Silver team won both courts 1 and 2 giving them a 26-0 win with a sweep again. They are only a couple of points out of 1 st place and have a solid hold of 2 nd place! The ladies Nickel had an unfortunate incident with the time and lost all four to default. Our 2.5 team won two positions for a win. The 3.5 Minus team split with the Landings They managed to move up one spot to 13 th place. The Bronze team was swept due to lack of players. The men have mixed results. The Red team went 1-3 and dropped to last place. However, they are only 4 points out of 1 st! Our Blue D team was swept at home. They remained in last place as well. The Blue B team swept Beachview and are now in 2 nd place! The Men s White team split with Heritage Palms and remains tied for 3 rd place. Our 70+ teams have been on fire! The Gold team split 2-2 but remain in 1 st place! The Brass team took 3 of 4 and remain tied for 2 nd place. Great playing gentlemen! The mixed team has their final match of the fall season this Saturday. They have taken a beating with many of our players out with illness and injury. We usually finish in the top 3. The bootcamp is full. If you want to sign up as an alternate, you may do so on the board. We have an all-star line-up teaching. I look forward to the bootcamp on January 5 th. Madisen s Match is returning to the FSW Arena in March. Early ticket sales are released to the clubs first. If you are interested, please let me know. It will sell out again this year! With Taylor Fritz, Sam Querrey, and the Bryan Brothers, it is an all-star line-up too! If you want to participate in the clinics, the sign up is on the large White Board by Court 1. The clinics will be $15 per person. I wish to limit the clinics to 4-6 per court. If necessary, I will bring in pros if we have too many signed up. The ladies may sign up for Monday, Wednesday, or Friday clinics. Men s Clinic is on Thursday at 10 am. Most captains will let you know which clinic will be best for you. Private lessons will be $65 per hour for members and $70 per hour for non-members. These prices reflect the same as Lee County Recreation s prices. I hope to see you out on the courts.
