October turned out to be a really busy and fun month, after we dodged Hurricane Michael early in the month!

2 News Around The Club... Dear Legend Oaks Members and Families, Welcome to the eleventh digital edition of 2018, Club News The recent weather feels like we jumped from summer, straight to winter, but what happened to fall? October turned out to be a really busy and fun month, after we dodged Hurricane Michael early in the month! The course remains in great shape and the FourBall MatchPlay event is yielding some great competition. We hosted our first Junior Invitational Championship in October with great success! Our Golf Pros Neil and Jack continue to build a strong junior program, with more elements to be added over the next few months. We finished the month with our first HOA sponsored Fall Festival. It was very well attended with over 200 people coming out for the various program elements including live music, bounce castles, costume contest, and plenty of food from the club and local food trucks. I think everyone had a great time, we hope to be able to make this an annual event! We ve included photos of this great event further in the newsletter and you can find all of them featured on our Facebook page. As we head into the holidays don t forget we have rescheduled the Legend Oaks Gives Back golf tournament benefiting Meals on Wheels of Summerville to November 3 rd, so you can still sign up with your foursome. Our 2018 Member - Member golf tournament is the following weekend November 9 th - 11 th and our annual member meeting follows on the 13 th of the month. We hope to see you at this annual meeting as we will discuss plans for the new year. We will also be having our first karaoke night on the 17th which should be great fun! On the tennis courts, our new Pro Daniel has added an advanced level for junior players, so we now have a program for all levels of ability. We ve just put the finishing touches on the 2018 Legend Oaks Tennis Club Championships, mark your calendars for November 30 - December 2! 4 Hello Golfers! Golf News Hope everyone enjoyed the good weather we had this October. The golf course is in very good condition, major thanks to Rick Smith and his team! The Fourball Matchplay bracket started this month with a full bracket of 64 players, the participation in events has been fantastic this year so I thank you all. Our Couples Bracket is coming to a close this week. Thank you to all the couples that participated. Final match is between: Mr. and Mrs. Chase vs. Mr. and Mrs. Corum The Legend Oaks Gives Back Golf Tournament benefiting Meals on Wheels is coming up Saturday, November 3rd. As you know, it was re-scheduled due to the Hurricane. You can still sign up online or in the ProShop to play. The following weekend will be our 2018 Golf Member / Member Weekend on November 9th - 11th. Please sign up online on our website or call the ProShop. All member types are welcome to play in our weekend event. We added an optional 9-Hole shootout on Friday at 3pm. For those interested it s a $10 Cash Only event. Stay after for our 7pm Pairing Party with Appetizers and Beer. The Handicap Committee and I have been working together regarding the hole by hole rating of the golf course and additional options for our member tournaments next year. I plan to present all of this at our Annual Member Meeting Tuesday, November 13 th. We have overseeded the tees as usual and will begin mowing the new ryegrass soon. The greens have slowed down growing which has increased their speed somewhat. This is normal as we go into the winter. We expect to have speeds of 10+ after November. We have several projects upcoming this winter which will be discussed at the Member Meeting. Mostly bunker repair, cart path repair, and a good bit of tree pruning particularly along some of the tees. I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have become more conscientious about where you drive and park your carts. I have noticed a lot fewer carts parked on the lawns around the clubhouse and I greatly appreciate it. Rick Smith Head Superintendent
