With five of it s seven horse shows completely sold out, the facility has certainly established itself as a Northern California gem. Ashley Herman, owner and manager, explained the Sonoma aura. We built Sonoma Horse Park with the goal of offering the most luxurious experience possible for the exhibitors both on and off the horse. Everything from the oversized arenas, to the footing, to the placement of the stabling was meticulously laid out. Additionally, we wanted the attendee s experience off the horse to be as pleasurable and as memorable as possible. We are very fortunate to be located in an area that is world-renowned for it s fantastic wine and food and therefore Sonoma itself has become synonymous with our brand. The VIP food is prepared by the most celebrated caterer in Sonoma; and Thursday through Sunday of every show wine provided by local wineries flows freely for all in attendance. We have a full time, complimentary concierge service that will make dinner reservations, spa appointments, arrange wine tours or even a car service to the airport for anyone in attendance. Additionally, every show we welcome 2 DJ s, various entertainers, onsite masseuses, manicurists, face-painters, food vendors such as wood-burning pizzas made to order, sushi trucks and gourmet Mexican food to bring a variety of local flavor to the experience. There are several exciting additions in the works for the 2013 show season, including building a 6th show arena and warm-up, increased prize money, as well as adding the renowned GGT footing to both the main hunter and Jumper 2 arenas. S VS Caremunde Z s history as a jumper stood him in good stead in the hunter derby ring on July 28 as he and Hope Glynn soared to the win the $10,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby at the HMI Equestrian Classic I at the Sonoma Horse Park in Petaluma, Calif. The first pair to enter the ring for the classic round, Glynn took advantage of Mickey s jumping talent to secure second place going into the handy, behind another of Glynn s mounts, Sabrina Hellman s Woodstock. I wasn t sure how the rest of the class was going to go, so I took more of the bigger options in the first round, said Glynn. Mickey is a really scopey horse, and I just knew I could pick the bigger jumps on him easily. With Woodstock and Mickey in the top two spots after the classic round, Glynn played it a bit conservative in the handy on both of them. I didn t take the higher options in the handy only because I had a strong lead after the first round, so I took the handier track with the more conservative jumps, she said. I may have lost out on the bonus options taking the higher jumps, but I could gain them in the handy points because actually the smaller jumps were on the handier track. Mickey forged ahead of his stablemate when Woodstock, a 10-year-old warmblood by Sheridan, rubbed the last fence.!"#$%&'()*'+,$-.) Ned Glynn, Hope s husband, bought Mickey, a 12-year-old Zangersheide gelding (Caretano Z Almunde Z) as a jumper in He made occasional side trips to the hunter and equitation rings until 2011, when the couple sold Mickey to Shelly Gambardella. He was always an excellent jumper but just a little nervous and spooky, said Hope. He was a little too slow in between the jumps; he liked to jump high, but he wasn t very fast.
