All races at Fair Hill are run under the jurisdiction of the Maryland Racing Commission. Owners, trainers and riders must be licensed by the Maryland Racing Commission. All trainers must be covered by workmen's compensation insurance and a certificate of insurance evidencing that coverage must be presented prior to starting. In order to alleviate congestion in the racing office at the Fair Hill Races, you may obtain the license form from the NSA office. Questions regarding licensing or insurance should contact MRC licensing office at or foreign riders with questions contact Joe Poag at All foreign jockeys must have current visa and proper proof of eligibility to work in the USA or they will not be allowed to ride. Fee Schedule: Original Owner or Trainer not licensed in Maryland for 5 years or more: $150 Renewal Owner or Trainer licensed within past 5 years: $125 Stable Name: $75 Jockey: $25. Note: $100 of each owner and trainer licensing fee goes to the Maryland Jockey Injury Compensation Fund, and have been added to the above fees. There will be a mandatory jockey's meeting in the paddock at 12:00 p.m. with the Stewards. ALL RIDERS MUST ATTEND. There will be a meeting of all officials in the paddock at 12:15 p.m. LASIX is the ONLY medication allowed on race day and is to be administered by a veterinarian designated by the Commission, Dr. Jay Baldwin. All horses are required to be treated no less than 3 hours prior to its race IV only 2-10 cc's. Horses arriving late for lasix will be scratched. No Exceptions. Horse not attended will not be treated. TRAINERS WITH HORSE(S) ON LASIX MUST CONTACT MELANIE MARTIN ( ) TO DECLARE DOSAGE AMOUNT. There will be a vet check for all horses beginning at 9 a.m. next to stabling area. All horses must be on the grounds by 11:00 a.m. (2 hours prior to the first race) for the pre-race vet check. Lasix horses must be on the grounds at least 4 hours prior to post time for their race, and no later than 2 hours prior to the first race. No scratches after scratch time, Wednesday, unless excused by the Stewards. Attention Trainers: Foal certificates and current (within 12 months) negative Coggins test must be on file at the races. Rider allowances ("bugs") must be claimed no later than 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 25. Maryland Million Premium Bonuses will be awarded to Maryland Million nominated horses that compete all races except those on the flat (First and Second) and the Maiden Claiming Hurdle. A $5,000 bonus applies in each race and bonus money will be distributed as follows: 60% to the winner, 30% to second and 10% to third. Drs. Kathy Anderson and Charles Arensberg ( ) will be providing vet services. O/T/R parking will be permitted in the BLUE parking area only off of Route 273. There will be absolutely no parking behind the NSA office. There will be an O/T/R hospitality area in the paddock. NSA credentials will be honored. The Fair Hill race course was inspected by Frank Hopkins, Jr. on May 12, Turf: The flat, hurdle and timber courses have a good cover of fescue and native grasses 6 inches in height. Smoothness: The courses were aerated and rolled in the fall of Compaction: 117 (Good). The thick turf provides a good cushion. Moisture: 5.7 (Average - Average Wet) Notes: With the rain over the past few weeks and more in the days leading up to race day, the course should be in great shape

The Fair Hill Races are located in Cecil County, Maryland, just 10 minutes off I-95, midway between Philadelphia, PA and Baltimore, MD. DIRECTIONS FROM THE NORTH: I-95 South or the New Jersey Turnpike South into Delaware. Continue on I-95 through toll booth into Maryland. Take the first Maryland exit, Route 279 South to Elkton, not Newark, DE. Follow to 3rd Traffic Light. Turn Right on Route 213 North. Go approximately 8 miles to 1st Traffic Light (Junction of Route 213 and Route 273). Turn right onto Route 273. Entrance to Fair Hill Races will be on the right, with additional parking across the street. DIRECTIONS FROM THE SOUTH: I-95 North from Baltimore. After paying the toll at the Susquehanna River Toll Booth, go approximately 7 miles to the Exit 100 (Route 272 North East/Rising Sun). Follow Route 272 North about 5 miles to the traffic light at the intersection of Route 273. Turn right onto Route 273 East toward Newark, DE. Go 5 miles to the traffic light at the intersection of Routes 273 and 213. The entrance to Fair Hill Races is just past the traffic light.
