THIRD PARTY FUROSEMIDE (SALIX) ADMINISTRATION Horsemen are reminded that third party administration of furosemide (Salix) is in effect at this race meet. Please refer to the 2018 NSA Spring Condition Book (center orange section) or the NSA Official Notices for complete details of the new NSA Medication policy. CAROLINA CUP - NOTICE TO HORSEMEN CONCERNING NEW NSA MEDICATION POLICY All trainers running a horse on furosemide (Salix) at the Carolina Cup, that are not stabled in Barn B-1 or Barn B-2, must move their horses to the Portable Tent Stalls on the racecourse grounds by the prescribed time for Salix administration (4 hours prior to post time). Those horses will remain stabled in the Portable Tent Stalls until paddock time for their race. Attention Trainers: By order of the South Carolina State Veterinarian, all racehorses, ponies, donkeys and any other horses entering the Springdale Race Course for the Carolina Cup Races must have the following documents: Requirements for out-of state horses: 1. CVI - Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (valid for 30 days) including description, date of negative EIA (Coggins) results, Lab and Accession number; and 2. Negative EIA (Coggins) test within 12 months Requirements for in-state (South Carolina) horses: 1. Negative EIA (Coggins) test within 12 months These documents will be checked by State Inspectors on race day. There will be no training on the racecourse or around the perimeter of the racecourse. Attention Horsemen: All scratches must be made no later than one hour prior to post time for the first race. Attention Horsemen: For stall assignments please contact Jeff Teter ( ) Attention Horsemen: Anyone wearing a Carolina Cup Horsemen's badge may use boxes I1-6 and J1-6 in the grandstand. REMINDER: Foal papers are not required to be on file with the Horse Identifier in claiming races providing the horse can be properly identified. Tattoos are required for all horses with a one-time exception providing the horse can be identified by his/her markings. O/T/R's are encouraged to be on the grounds by 10:30 a.m. due to heavy traffic. All participating owners, trainers, riders and grooms are encouraged to pick up Carolina Cup credentials from the Carolina Cup Racing Office PRIOR to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, March 31. The office will be open on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. After 11:00 a.m. credentials will be left with Security in parking lot in front of the office. See attached notices regarding Carolina Cup credentials. There will be a Best Turned Out "Horse and Groom" Award Presented by Jason & Nancy Ruch of Smallwood Stable. There will be a $100 prize awarded to the winning pair per race. Hunters Trace Farm and Tribute Feed are sponsoring a cooler to go to the winning trainer of each race. All post- race testing will be done in two stalls of the four-stall barn between Barn B and the Block Barn. The designated stalls face the Block Barn. Please be advised that horsemen will need to make

3 necessary arrangements for buckets and equipment to cool their horses out in this area if being tested. No horse will be allowed to go back to any outer barns: A, C, D, E until completion of testing. Friday, March 30:Breakfast at the Gallops - Springdale Schooling Course 8:00 a.m.to 10:00 a.m., all horsemen invited. The National Steeplechase Museum "Low Country Boil and Steamed Oysters" 6:30 p.m. Presented by Capital City Catering $40.00 per person Non-members, $35.00 Per Person for Museum Members Call for reservations. Saturday: Immediately following the final race, all horsemen and officials are invited back to the National Steeplechase Museum for drinks and toasting. The Carolina Cup race course was inspected on March 18, 2018 by Jeff Teter. Turf: The turf is Bermuda grass that is brown and dormant at this time of year. It is fairly thick throughout. The course was over seeded with rye grass twice last fall, once in later October and again in late November. The rye grass is inconsistent, some places very good and some places light. Overall the course has a green appearance and feels good underfoot from the Bermuda thatch and/or rye grass. The course has been mowed once and may be mowed again the week of the 19th. The mower is set at 41/2 inches, as high as it will go. The course was sprayed with nitrogen late February. Smoothness: The course was aerated, chain harrowed and Cambridge rolled after the races last spring. The course feels smooth throughout. Compaction: Readings range from 8-14 but average (Good) Moisture: Readings 2-8, averaging 4-5 (Average). It has rained 2.20 inches of rain in march so far, and calling for rain Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

5 Carolina Cup Racing Association Horsemen s Credentials and Luncheon Tent Tickets 1. NSA pins are considered a general admission ticket. The NSA pin will allow access to the paddock, but will not allow access to the grandstand or the Post and Paddock Luncheon tent. NSA parking tags allow access to the Stable or Horsemen gates only. 2. Participating horsemen must pick up their credential envelopes in the Carolina Cup office the day prior to the races by 5:00pm. If you will not be arriving until race day, please call Maggie Davis at the office (803) to make other arrangements for picking up credentials. 3. Participating horsemen will receive two (2) horsemen credentials, and one (1) parking credential without charge. 4. Horsemen s Luncheon tent - a complimentary luncheon tent for horsemen and officials is located behind the Jockeys Room from 11:30 am 2:30 pm, serving lunch and a choice of ice tea/soft drinks/water. Tickets to the Post and Paddock Luncheon Tent can be purchased at $25/each and in advanced. 5. Every person on the grounds must have an admission credential and every vehicle must have a parking tag. Please make arrangements with Maggie Davis at the office as to how many stable personnel credentials and extra vehicle credentials are needed, in advance, so the proper number may be ready upon arrival. 6. Non-participating horsemen must purchase horsemen credentials to have access to the grandstand.
