3 SATURDAY, APRIL 28, 2018 CHARLOTTE PP Horse Med Sex/Age Clm $ Wgt Jockey Owner Trainer finishing stretch. The bottom wall on Member's Hill was replaced with a concrete segmental wall system. Construction occurred last fall affecting the outer areas of the racecourse below Member's Hill. The grass is thin along this area but is not in the running areas of the racecourse. None of the aforementioned characteristics should be cause for concern as they are cosmetic in nature or are not part of the running area of the racecourse. Smoothness: Very smooth throughout; a good feel underfoot. Compaction: (Good). The racecourse was tine aerated using the Aerway March 4 and again April 14. Racecourse will be aerated as needed in areas of compaction concerns leading up to the day. Moisture: 10 (Wet). The course received over 1 inch of rain this evening before this report was taken. The course will continue to be regularly irrigated leading up to the day with the expectation of maintaining a moisture reading of 9-10 (Wet). Notes: Zeagler's Horse Carpet mulch was replaced in March at vehicle crossing at the bottom of the Hill at the head of the stretch. After discussion and concern with running maiden timber horses over two flights of EasyFix fences, the Queen's Cup Committee is retracting the original April 17, 2018 statement in the notice page. The water jump in front of Member's Hill will go back to it's original fence which consist of a sunken National Fence as has been raced over quite successfully the past 8 years both the timber races and hurdle races. The Queen's Coop, which is the bullfinch fence on the backside as noted in the Condition Book, will be replaced with a traditional timber fence. All EasyFix fences and hurdles will be on display in the Parade Ring and we hope you will take the time to look at the variations of fences.

Turf: Consistent, thick and lush throughout. The Brooklandwood Racecourse turf is made-up of a blend of fine turf fescues, bluegrass & perennial rye grasses. Turf is currently at a height of 3¾ inches. The course was fertilized by Race Sponsor, TruGreen on March 8 with high levels of nitrogen to promote top growth and fast green-up. There is heavy rain forecast Monday and Tuesday, which will affect our timing on the last cut and the installation of the modified National Fences Wednesday. To that end, the last mowing was late Sunday afternoon (April 22). Race day turf height is expected to be around 5-6. Smoothness: Smooth. Very smooth throughout. A good feel under foot. Racecourse will be aerated as needed in areas of compaction concerns leading up to the day. No Change Moisture: 8-9 (Wet).
