2 PONY CLUB DRESSAGE and JUMPING CHAMPIONSHIPS GENERAL RULES General The competitions will be conducted under the rules of the EA and regulations as stated in Section 7 of the PC Handbook - Inter-club Championships and Competitions January Making an entry for these competitions constitutes implicit acceptance of PCT General and EA Discipline rules, and the conditions laid down in this schedule. Eligibility Riders must be bonafide members of the club, which they represent. Riders must attend at least three working rallies and horses one of their club during the twelve months prior to the closing of entries. For definition of a working rally see section Riders may not gain qualification unless they have paid their insurance and affiliation fees and carry their current pony club membership card. Horses must either be owned or leased by the rider or another member of their club. See section for details of ownership or lease of horses. They must be 4 years old or over. They may be any height. Entries Entry forms are attached. Please use these. Print as many as needed of Entries shall be submitted in writing, preferably typed, on these forms only from the club's official on behalf of their members. They will not be accepted from individual members, but each rider s form must accompany the club entries. DCs must certify that all the entry information is correct. Clubs may nominate any number of qualified riders per class. They should be nominated on the entry forms in acceptance order preferred by the club and may be accepted to ride at the discretion of the host zone. If classes are over-subscribed the last names on the forms may be balloted out. ed copies would be helpful, providing they are followed by the posted hard copies and fees payable to PCT Southern Zone. See discipline details for entry fees. Riders wanting first-timer badges must enclose an extra $5 per badge and grade ones an extra $3 per badge. These must be pre-ordered. Clubs with insufficient riders to form their own team will be combined with other clubs within the zone to form Zone teams and are eligible for a trophy. There will be no state scrambled teams. Substitution After the closing of entries, no horse or rider entered for the competition may be changed, except in the event of illness, unsoundness or accident, when a certificate signed by the DC shall be produced. The DC must certify that any substitutes comply with the requirements of the rules. Club Representative If the DC of a competing club is unable to be present at the competition, he/she must inform the organiser in writing of the person nominated to be his/her representative. Objections may only be lodged by the DC or his/her authorised agent. Objections must be made in writing and lodged with the secretary or Technical Delegate, together with supporting evidence, names of witnesses and not later than half an hour after the happening that gave rise to the objection. The Ground Jury will adjudicate upon the objection and their decision will be final. Trophies and Sashes Sashes will be awarded to fourth place for the teams and sixth place for individuals in all classes. The Homevale Perpetual Trophy Barwidgee Snowdon Memorial donated by Mrs L.Hedberg is awarded to the most successful club over the Jumping and Dressage Championships weekend. Checking Scores and Placings The club representative is asked to check that all the scores of their riders are entered correctly (particularly when the three best riders form a team) BEFORE the presentations in order to prevent wrong ones being made. The organisers must ensure that all zone scramble teams members are also listed on the scoreboard at the beginning of the championships. Gear Inspection Will take place prior to the competitor entering the working arena as per PCAT Handbook, pages DC s are advised to ensure that all entered riders fulfil the requirements before presenting to the gear checkers. Reservation of Right The Organising committee reserve the right to: Alter the advertised starting times; Cancel any class or event; Divide any class; or Refuse any entry, with or without stating a reason. Off The Track (OTT) thoroughbred award This year Racing Tasmania are sponsoring an award for the highest placed OTT thoroughbred over 17 years and under 17 years in Dressage and highest placed in grade 1 Jumping. Horses must be a registered thoroughbred. The winner will receive a rug and OTT merchandise. Please fill out the below section on the entry form if applicable. 2
3 DRESSAGE CHAMPIONSHIPS General The competitions will be run in three groups: Grades 1 & 2 Seniors and juniors will compete together in one class for each grade. Grade 3 will be divided as follows: i. Juniors/Members under 17 years may count for the team and compete for the trophy. ii. Seniors/Associates under 25 years may not count for the team and compete for sashes only.! The age of riders will be taken as at 1st January 2015.! Competitors shall only compete on one horse.! Competitors may take part in three tests only the two team tests and one other.! Riders in the group tests shall be named so that the organisers can slot them into the draw at suitable times, however, they may be substituted if necessary.! The organisers shall be notified of any substitutions and scratchings ASAP. Qualifications Horses must be 4 years old or over. Both rider and horse, but not necessarily together, must have gained at least 55% for Preliminary and Novice and 50% for Elementary in two dressage tests of the equivalent standard, under approved judges. Combinations of rider and horse may qualify: i. under the same judge on different days; ii. On the same day under different judges. NOT at an ODE. Classification The total percentage of the two team tests added together will give each competitor's individual score. The competitor with the highest score in his/her grade will be awarded the Individual Championship. The winning club will be that club whose total score from their best rider in each grade is the best. In the case of a tie, the winning team is the one whose lowest placed member has the higher score. Clubs may have more than one team. The second best rider in each group will count towards the club s no 2 team score, and so on. Team Tests Two team tests in each group. These tests are the EA 2014 tests. Grade 1 Elementary 3.1 and Novice 2.3. Grade 2 Novice 2.1 and 2.2. Grade 3 Preliminary 1.2 and 1.3. All competitors take part in both tests. Competitors may compete on one horse only. These tests may not be called. Optional, non-team tests Quadrille (formerly group test) on form is for teams of four riders. Clubs may enter more than one team if they wish but the organisers have the right to restrict the numbers competing. It will not be divided in to divisions. Musical Ride It may be in club uniform or fancy dress. The ride is to be devised by the club and must be of 5 to 6 mins in duration. A minimum of four riders must take part. There is no maximum but only four sashes will be awarded. Not more than one rider may compete for a club in both these tests. Clubs are to provide their own music on an usb or cd. These two ride tests may be called. Saddlery Snaffle Bits only shall be worn in all tests. A whip may be carried. Only blunt spurs may be worn. Draw A draw will be conducted and positions strictly adhered to. Where possible the order of competing will be as named on the entry form and where possible, one of each club's riders will go before a second one, however, riders may be seeded to allow for travelling and to accommodate optional test riders, etc. Details of the draw will be sent to club DCs a few days prior to the event. Please notify any scratchings ASAP. Entry fees of $30 per rider, plus $25 per quadrille/musical ride, must accompany the entry forms. JUMPING CHAMPIONSHIPS Format Competitors may, but do not have to, take part in two competitions Jumping Equitation (JE,) and the Two Round Show Jumping Championship (SJ). The JE will be held before the SJ class. The team competition will be conducted over the Two Round Show Jumping Championship (SJ) competition only. Competitors may ride two horses maximum, but only one of these may be in grade 3, however they may ride two horses in either Grades 1 or 2. They may only be considered once for a team and the horse which is the most beneficial to the team score will be counted as the team entry if in different grades. The order of competing clubs will be drawn and all of a club's members within their grade will ride in consecutive order. The jumping order of a club's members will be as named on the entry form. Qualifications Horses must be 4 years old or over with the corners in wear. 3
4 Both horse and rider must have completed at least two Show Jumping rounds at recognised shows, gymkhanas or PC competitions over a course of their equivalent grade heights as below. Only one of these may be obtained at an ODE. Jumping Equitation Championship To be judged by two judges using JE scoresheet form To be conducted over one round of a course of 8-10 fences, including a double (9-11 efforts). There is no set speed but the course should be ridden at a good canter pace, and will depend on the horse. Show Jumping Championship To be judged under Table A over two rounds- EA article , , 4b, the faults and time in the first round decides the starting order for the second round. The course for the second round may be identical or different and increased in size at the discretion of the CD, judge and TD. Competitors are placed by adding the penalties for the two rounds. Speed 325mpm. In the case of equality of the added penalties for first place, a jump-off against the clock will be held over a shortened course of obstacles which may be increased in height and/or spread. Lower places are classified by the total penalties and the time taken in the second round in the case of equality. Classes JE and SJ Classes will be conducted for each of grades 1, 2 and 3. Maximum fence sizes. A tolerance of 5cms in height is acceptable if dictated by the terrain or the spacing of the cups. The max increase for the second jump-off from the first round is 15cm (6"). Team Classification The team competition will be conducted over the Two Round Show Jumping competition only. Each team will consist of one rider from grades 1, 2 & 3. The results of the club s best rider in each grade will count towards the club s no 1 team score, the second best rider in each grade will count towards the club s no 2 team score, and so on. Competitors will be placed from first to last in each grade. The number of their placing is scored as points. The winning club/zone will be that whose total points from their best rider in each grade is the lowest. In the case of a tie, the jumping penalties (excluding any incurred in a jump-off) of those riders will be added together, and if still equal the winning team is the one whose lowest placed member has the better score. Awards The competitor with the best placing in his/her grade will be awarded an individual championship trophy. Entry fees of $30 per rider, plus $20 for a second horse, must accompany the entry forms. Facilities Vet and Farrier Medical: Catering: ************************************ A Vet and Farrier will be on call. Please check notice board for further details. A qualified First Aid officer will be on the ground at all competition times and a doctor will be on call. Please check notice board for further details. A canteen will be operating including breakfast. SATURDAY NIGHT SPIT ROAST The Southern Zone will be hosting a Spit Roast at the TEC on Saturday night from 6pm. This will be dependent upon receiving enough ticket sales to be cost efficient. Please indicate ticket numbers on payment sheet and include payment. The BBQ will supply meat, bread and salad. TIME: 6pm COST: $10 under 12 $5 BYO chair and drinks 4
5 ACCOMMODATION: Tasmanian Equestrian Centre: Camping is available at the championship venue at the Equestrian Centre at a cost of $10 per night per family. There are yards available for horses; temporary yards aren t able to be constructed due to Equestrian Australia regulations. Bookings made through Erin Hunn or erin_hunn1@bigpond.com. We are also ideally located within 5 kms of several golf courses, lovely beaches and much more. The modern self-contained 2 bedroom cabins have all the facilities that you would expect including LCD TV and wireless internet availability. Our caravan and motorhome sites consist of a large concrete base which has all the facilities needed including a centrally heated amenities block. There are also several sites with their own ensuite.
