Members are entitled to free admission to the ground for Member and partner and members of the family up to 16 of age, or admit Single Members if Single Membership is paid, and the power to attend and vote at the Annual Meeting. HORSE REGULATIONS The Cohuna Show Society supports EFA random drug testing and exhibitors are advised that drug testing may occur at this year's Show The Cohuna Show Society wishes to advise that leather boots and hard hats must be worn at all times when mounted. All competitors must sign the insurance book before purchasing entry tickets. The Judges decisions will be final. ALL HORSE MUST BE MEASURED and measuring ticket presented to the Ring Steward on request. Current Melbourne Show or E.F.A. Measuring certificates will be accepted. Protests must be put in writing and presented to the Protest Committee no later than 4pm Saturday 19th March with a $50 lodgement. Stallions must be suitably bitted and in the of an adult for showing - not to be handled or ridden in 1 open horse classes. All competitors staying overnight at the Show Grounds must hold a Members ticket. Limited stabling is available for stallions Any competitor using these must be prepared to make way for stallions. Cost of stable is $5 per night per horse. Straw is available. Book with the Secretary. All Competitors must have a copy of all registration papers and a copy of all memberships. Money to be paid with entries. Membership card will be sent back before the show. Tickets are to be picked up at the Show office on the day. Each horse or Pony to have an entry form. Each rider to have only one entry form. Children under 18 of age must have a copy of birth certificate. All exhibits must be the bona fide property of the 9 exhibitor. 2. All entries must be made in writing or printed form, which may be had on application to the Secretary. 3. Every exhibitor shall place his exhibit where directed by the Stewards or Secretary otherwise exhibits will not be judged. 4. The same exhibit cannot compete in more than one section except for Champion Prizes. Or as are such cases as are specified in the schedule. See rule No exhibitor will be allowed in that section of the yard or ring (except by permission of the Council) in which his exhibit is being judged, and it shall be the duty of the Stewards to prevent any person interfering with the Judge and if necessary order the removal of such offender. 6. No person except those actually in charge of implements or machinery will be permitted to remain in the judging ring during judging under any presence whatsoever. 7. Horses and cattle must be haltered and led, and on no account be removed from their allocated stand without the permission of the Stewards. 8. Any exhibitor refusing to parade his stock when so ordered by the Stewards will incur a fine of $5.00 and may be further
10 disqualified from exhibiting at any of the Societies exhibitions. 9. The judges may award a second prize instead of first and may withhold prizes altogether when they think there is not sufficient merit. Where only two exhibits are entered they may award prizes if they think proper to both exhibits. 10. In the event of two exhibits in any section of the pavilion gaining equal aggregate points after a count back, the Society will provide a second trophy of the same value. 11. Where special prizes are offered in a section the first prize offered will be withdrawn unless otherwise specified. 12. No Judge shall be an exhibitor in the class in which he is a judge. 13. If, in the opinion of the Judges, any livestock is unsound either temporarily or otherwise, the opinion of a Veterinary Surgeon may be obtained before the prize is awarded. 14. The decision of the judge as to the merits of exhibit shall be absolute and final, and without any repeal whatsoever. 15. Protests against awards based on non-compliance with conditions of the prize list or the regulations, will be taken into consideration by the Council if lodged with the Secretary before 8.00pm on the day of the Show together with $50 as guarantee of bona fide protest. 16. Exhibitors, if called upon to do so by the Council must give such information with regard to their exhibits as Council may require or any prize may be withheld. Council also have the right to refuse any entry and also refuse any exhibit entered, the right to compete without giving any reason for same, providing the entrance money is returned. The Council may require an exhibitor to make declaration in regard to any matter arising hereafter. 17. The Society will not be responsible for the exhibits but every care will be taken of same. Exhibits must be removed immediately the Show is over. 18. No exhibitor shall interfere with the exhibits whatsoever during the exhibit is open. Anyone so interfering may be expelled from the exhibition grounds. No exhibit shall be removed before 2.30 on the day of the Show except on the written permission of the Stewards or Secretary. 19. No animals, implements, etc excepting those entered will be allowed on the ground. All vehicles bringing exhibits to the grounds must be removed from the area 10 after discharging their loads, or placed where directed by the Ground Steward. 20. No Person shall have proprietorship for the time being of pens, which have been allotted to the stock entered by such person, and no one will be permitted to put any placard or advertisement on the ground without the consent of the Secretary in writing. 21. The age of horses to date from the 1st of August. 22. Extra stock, implements, etc. not admissible under any of enumerated classes may be exhibited by paying the same entrance fee as in classes to which they are most closely allied. Honorary certificates may be awarded. 23. Any infringements of these regulations may disqualify the exhibitor from taking a prize. Any disputes shall be determined by the Council from whose decision there shall be no appeal whatsoever. 24. The Society invites the exhibition of articles connected with agriculture, horticulture or home craft, other than those enumerated and prizes may be recommended by the Judge for those considered worthy. 25. The Council will not hold itself responsible in cases where wrong class tickets
11 have been given to exhibitors after judging has been commenced, so that all are particularly requested to check their tickets with the Show Schedule prior to the date of the Show. 22. If, in the opinion of Stewards, the conduct of an exhibitor or any person shall be such as to demand such course, they shall have the power to forfeit any or all of the prizes such exhibitor may have won, and any further cause such person or exhibitor and exhibit to be removed from the Show Grounds and with being liable to any action or legal proceedings. 23, The rule as the reception of entries will be strictly enforced and adhered to. 24. The entry ticket must be attached to each lot before entering the gates of the Show Grounds and must not be removed until authorised by the Stewards or Secretary. 25. The right to grant Honorary Certificates is the absolute discretion of the Council. 26. All exhibits must be in the enclosure provided and ready for the Stewards15 minutes before the advertised time of judging and when placed in their must on no account be interfered with. 27. That any exhibits may compete in more sections than one class in a class providing only part of the previous exhibitions. 28. The Committee has the power to alter or amend any section on day of showing. 29. Prize lists and all information may be obtained from the Secretary. 30. An exhibitor going on to Group & State Finals may represent only one Society at Group level and one at State level. An article having won at a show will compete at Group level TBA and the winner going on to compete in the State level at the next Royal Melbourne Show. An article having won at State final is no longer eligible to compete in the competition. Each article must be the bona fide work of the Exhibitor. If for any reason a winner is unable to compete at Group level or State final levels, the second place getter is eligible to compete. A person will not be permitted to win at more than one show within the State in any one Show year. Persons not adhering to this will be required to forfeit/refund prize money. All work must be completed within the last twelve (12) months. SAFETY REGULATIONS FOR EXHIBITORS & COMPETITORS 1. DUTY OF CARE- All competitors have a 'Duty of Care' to avoid exposing themselves or other 11 people to unsafe situations that could lead to injury. The 'Duty of Care' extends to the prevention of damage to property. 2. EMERGENCY FACILITIES- Fire fighting or other emergency equipment must not be removed or used for any other purpose. Missing or unserviceable equipment should be reported to the Show Office immediately. SAFETY REGULATIONS 5. HAZARD & INCIDENT REPORTING- Competitors must notify the Area/ Pavilion Supervisor or Show Office immediately if any hazards are detected or incident occur. Hazards or incidents are any situation that could result in or has resulted in (a) The injury, illness or death of any person (b) The injury, illness or death of
12 any animal (c) The damage, destruction or loss of property. (d) Fire (e) Other 6. WASTE DISPOSAL - All waste including liquids, must be disposed of responsibly. Storm drains must not be used for disposal of waste. 7. HOUSEKEEPING - All areas must be kept in clean and tidy order with clearly defined and available access and exit routes at all times. Build up of combustible waste must be avoided. 8. SLIPS, TRIPS & FALLS - Care must be taken to minimize trip hazards and obstacles that people may walk into. Avoid laying unprotected cables or pipes on or above paths, walkways or roads. order. (c) All electrical leads and temporary electrical equipment should be tagged and tested. (d) The use of double adaptors is strictly prohibited. Power boards must be fitted with current overload protection. (e) Radiant electric or gas heaters are prohibited. (f) Light sockets must not be used for any other purpose than for lighting. (g) No naked flame permitted. 9. SMOKING - Smoking is not permitted inside buildings, within 10 meters of a building entrance, around combustibles, during public performances or while handling hazardous materials. 10. ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT - (a) Competitors should supply their own Residual Circuit Devices (RCD) ' Safety Switch' for installation at each power outlet they use. (b) Extension wires must be earthed and all electrical appliances must be earthed or double insulated. Appliances must be in sound working 12
