PRESIDENTS MESSAGE for 2015 It is with great excitement that on behalf of the committee of the Heytesbury Agricultural Society, I would like to welcome you to our 80th annual show. Over the last 80 years a lot of hard work and many people contributing time and effort behind the scenes we have had great success in what the show has become today. Each and every year we try to improve on the previous show, which has always been the case. To the current committee, a big thank you for all the hard work and organisation in your respective sections, which is a credit to you all, and the show. Also a big thank you to your families, friends and the many other people who offer their services to help put this day together. Enjoy the show today as you wander around the grounds and exploring everything on offer and even catching up with old and new friends. Memories will be made with all the activities on offer. 4 HORSE REGULATIONS (To be read in conjunction with the RULES AND REGULATIONS and the DISCIPLARY RULES, which are available upon request.) THESE RULES WILL BE ENFORCED: 1. Entries will only be received subject to rules and regulations of the Society Inc. All exhibits must be the bona fide property of the exhibitor or held by the exhibitor under lease recognised by the Society Inc. at the time of entry. Entries must be accompanied by the correct entry fee. 2. Every exhibitor or competitor shall be bound by and observe the decisions of the Society Inc. 3. All riders must wear approved safety helmets to the current Australia Standard (AS/NZ3838; 1998), European Standard (EN1384) or American Standard (ASTMF1163) whist competing and exercising. 4. The Society Inc reserves the right to reject at any time any entry or prohibit any person or animal from competing in any class. 5. All horses and ponies must be exhibited in accordance with the current height certificate issued by either: (a) the Royal Agricultural Society of Vic. or (b) the Equestrian Federation of Aust. (Vic Branch Inc.) EXHIBITORS: Please have any current height certificate available on Show Day for viewing, if requested by the steward. (Horses and ponies without a current certificate must be measured by the appointed measurers at the Show prior to being exhibited in a class where height is specified. Where height is not stipulated in the schedule, a hack shall be considered over 15 hands, a Galloway over 14 hands and not exceeding 15 hands, a pony 14 hands or under.) Regulations relating to the measuring of horses and ponies (in classes where height is specified): A. All horses must have a bit in their mouth when being measured if over two (2) years of age B. When measuring a horse, Galloway or Pony, an allowance of three eighths (3/8) of an inch for showes may be made at the discretion of the measurer. C. If the Judge entertains a doubt as to the correctness of the height certificate, he/she has the power to order the exhibit to the measurer and supervise the re-measuring. 6. Owners entering their horses or ponies do so at their own risk and it is a condition of entry that no liability of any kind attaches itself to the Society Inc., its officials or members in any respect. 7. All Heytesbury Show Prize winners from Saturday 28th February 2015 are requested to take part in the GRAND PARADE. 8. Subject to VAS Ltd Saddle Horse Championships being conducted in 2015, Heytesbury 2014 Champions in appropriate sections will qualify. 9. Where there are three (3) exhibitors or less in any class in Ring 1 no second place prize money will be paid for that particular class. 10. Trophies NOT collected from the Horse Secretary s Tent at the conclusion of the Grand Parade on Show Day will be forfeited. 11. Intending competitors PLEASE NOTE: they will not be waited on from one ring to another for an impractical length of time. 12. Motor vehicles, including trucks and stock transports, shall be parked as directed by the Society Inc. s parking attendants. LATE ENTRIES IN THE HORSE SECTION WILL BE TAKEN ON SHOW DAY. 4

Affiliated Agricultural Shows between 1st Jan & 31st Dec The South Western Group Of Victorian Agricultural Societies Association will donate a trophy (value $50) to the competitor gaining the most points for Champion Saddle Galloway over 14 Hands and not exceeding 15 Hands at shows conducted by affiliated societies. Points allotted are 5 points for Champion Saddle Horse. Points only for Champion Saddle Horse will be counted unless there is an equal count of two or more competitors on the first count and then only the points of the Reserve Champion Saddle horse of those competitors that have tied. Special attention will be paid to the hands and seat, general management and control of the horse or pony. Competitiors must ride using an ordinary snaffle, single jointed in the centre, the mouthpiece must be smooth and of the one metal, with or without a caesson noseband. A gear check may take place. Please note: Straight bar snaffles, drop nosebands, whips and spurs are not permitted. Cream together the butter and sugar with the essences, Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, and then alternatively add the fruit and flour mixtures. Mix thoroughly. The mixture should be stiff enough to support a wooden spoon. Place the mixture into a prepared 20cm square tin, and bake in a slow oven for approximately 3 ½ to 4 hours. 75 BEYOND BLUE HUMAN TRUCK PULL COMPETITION Put together a team of ten (10) and use a tow rope to pull a truck 30-50m. A Great way to raise money for your own club with cash prizes available. Enter before or on the day by contacting the Show Secretary on or visit the Secretary s Shed. Entry is $50 per team. All profits go towards the Beyond Blue Charity. TRADE STANDS TRADE STANDS Trade stands are available at $30 for a minimum of 4m frontage with an addtional $7 per metre thereafter. Applications for Trade Stand allocations will be treated in order of being received by the Secretary and must be paid for prior to the Show Two gate passes will be issued for use by the Trade Stand Exhibitors or any member of their staff. Additional passes will be made available by the Society for the reduced price of $6 each provided the total number of tickets required is nominated on the Application Form and all fees payable are to be in the hands of the Society Secretary two weeks prior to the Show. Some electric power is available at $15 per power point extra and it will be the responsibility of the Trade Stand Exhibitor to provide any electrical leads or adaptors required, such leads to be in checked and tagged in accordance with Electricity Providers regulations. If the stall holder doesn t have their own Public Liability Insurance, the society will make a charge to cover insurance for Trade Stand Exhibitors whilst on the Recreation Reserve. 81 RULES & REGULATIONS N.B. A copy of the Society disciplinary rules is available upon request from the Secretary. 1. All entries must be made subject to the Rules and Regulations of the Heytesbury Agricultural Society Incorporated (herein after referred for the purposes of these Rules and Regulations as The Society ) and they are accepted only on that distinct understanding. 2. The decision of the Committee on all points shall be found final without recourse, except by appeal to VAS Ltd. No decision so made shall be called into question by the entrant before any court or other body whatsoever. 3. All exhibits must be the bona fide property of the exhibitors at the time of entry and conform to the rules of their respective breed societies if applicable. No refund on Entry Fees or tickets. 4. The Society accepts no responsibility for any exhibit, livestock, competitor or any exhibitor but all reasonable care will be taken. 5. All exhibits must be at the ground by 9:30am (except where otherwise stated) and must not be removed before 3:45pm 6. Entries not on time will be disqualified. 7. Should any entry having gained a prize be disqualified the next in line does not necessarily obtain the prize, the committee with or without advice of the judges will decide the awards. 8. Entry Cards for entries sent by post may be collected at the Secretary s Office on Show Day. 9. Exhibitors must not wear ribbons previously won at any other show. 10. No admittance will be allowed in the judging ring during judging except judges, officials and those in charge of the exhibits. 11. Judges may withhold prizes for any exhibit not considered worthy of a prize or may award a second prize only. 12. All persons causing annoyance by loud comments on the decision of the judges or other unseemly or insulting behaviour, will, after having been cautioned by the stewards, the judge or the Secretary, be expelled from the show or if an exhibitor, may have his exhibit disqualified. 13. In the event of a judge or judges whose names are published in the catalogue failing to attend or being unable to carry out his/her duties the committee may appoint a judge or judges in their stead, who shall be deemed to be the judge or judges originally appointed. 14. The committee reserves the right to amend the schedule in accordance with expected donations. 15. Stewards shall, in case they think it advisable, reject any 81

82 exhibit in any section for the reason they suspect it to be diseased or dangerous, or in the case of Dairy Cattle if overstocked with milk and at once report same to the Chief Steward of the section who may take action for its immediate removal. 16. The society does not hold itself responsible for any errors that may occur in the schedule and entries are accepted on these conditions only. 17. Protests may be lodged in writing with the Secretary by 6pm on the day of the Show, accompanied with a deposit of $5. Protests will be considered by the committee and the deposit may be forfeited if the committee considers the protest frivolous. 18. A parade of all horses and cattle exhibits which can be led will take place at the time appointed on the day of the Show. Owners or agents failing to parade their stock when required to do so will automatically forfeit all prize monies and trophies. 19. The committee reserves the right of refusing, cancelling or rejecting any entry without giving any reason for so doing. 20. The committee may withold any prize where an exhibitor in making an entry has made fruadulent or erroneous statements, such an exhibitor and his/her stock will be disqualified and debarred from exhibiting, riding or competing at the Society Show, at the discretion of the committee. A disqualified exhibitor, if also a member shall be liable to expulsion from the Society. 21. In case any exhibit whilst on Society ground shall cause or be the cause of injury or damage to other exhibits or competitors or the persons or the property of any member of the Society or the general public, the owner or owners of such an exhibit shall indemnify and keep indemnified the Society, its officers and members, property and effects from and against all damages, costs, claims or expenses incurred in connection with such exhibits. 22. In the event of an accident occurring on the Society ground to any exhibitor, competitor, member of Committee or member of the general public during the show, any member of the committee or other official of the Society, shall if he/ she considers it expedient to do so, be entitled to engage the services of any doctor or other persons involved in such an accident, but neither the Society nor the committee nor any officials therof shall by so doing be deemed to incur any liability procured, and any person or persons so injured and for whom such medical attention is so procured shall indemnify the Society, its officers and members, property and effects from and against all damages, costs, claims, expenses or liabilities incurred in connection therewith. 23. Prize money not claimed or collected before the end of the Society financial year will not be recognised or paid. 82

83 OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY POLICY The Heytesbury Agricultural Society Inc. is committed to providing a safe, healthy and environmentally acceptable Showground s for all stakeholders. We shall maintain an effective health and safety program so far as is practicable and endeavour to comply with all statutory and Common Law requirements. All competitors and exhibitors have a Duty of Care to avoid exposing themselves or other people to unsafe situations that could lead to injury. The Duty of Care extends to the prevention of damage to property. Competitors must comply with any reasonable request of Heytesbury Agricultural Society Representatives. Emergency information and maps showing Emergency Assembly points are located in various animal pavilions and buildings. Competitors should be familiar with these plans. During the Heytesbury Agricultural Inc. Show, St John s Ambulance provides First Aid facilities. Fire fighting or other emergency equipment must not be removed or used for any other purpose.missing or unserviceable equipment should be reported to Administration immediately. Competitors must notify the Area/Pavilion Supervisor immediately if any hazards are detected or incidents occur. Hazards or incidents are any situation that could result or has resulted in a) The injury, illness or death of any person b) The injury, illness or death of any animal c) The damage, destruction or loss of property d) Fire e) Other All waste, including liquids, must be disposed of responsibly. Storm drains must not be used for disposal of waste. All areas must be kept in clean and tidy order with clearly defined and available access and exit routes at all times. Build up of combustible waste must be avoided. Care must be taken to minimize trip hazards and obstacles that people may walk into. Avoid laying unprotected cables or pipes on or above paths, walkways or roads. Media comment about matters involving Heytesbury Agricultural Society Inc. on the Showgrounds is co-ordinated by the administrator. Smoking is not permitted inside buildings, within 10 metres of a building entrance, around combustible s, during public performances or while handling hazardous materials. Electrical equipment, a) Competitors should supply their own Residual Circuit Device (RCD) Safety Switch for installation at each power outlet they use. b) Extension cords must be earthed and all electrical appliances must be earthed or double insulated.
