3 Message From 1 st District Governor Lion Diane Bonnell Hello Fellow Lions Well, how time flies! I started my journey towards District Governor 2 years ago, and can hardly believe that it will soon be here. I would like to thank DG Sam and CST Pat for their help over the past year. I look forward to becoming DG and thank all Lions for the support. With my right hand man, CST Frank, I am sure we will have a great year. We have a great team - 1VDG Jennifer and 2VDG Carl and will work together for the betterment of the District. I thank all Lions who accepted positions on my Cabinet, as positions have all been filled. Our first Cabinet meeting will be held on August 13th at the Arnold's Cove Lions Club. I look forward to seeing you there. I thank the District for all the training offered. My next session is at the MD Convention in Frederiction this month. I will be attending Lions Foundation of Canada in June and look forward to actually experiencing the Dog Guide Program. I will be attending the 100 year celebrations in Chicago at the International Convention. Wow! What a great time to be inducted as your DG. We will be commemorating 100 years of humanitarian service in the city where it all began. Lions Club International has developed a strategic plan called LCI Forward to reach the goal of serving 200 million people a year by This program embraces new ways to serve, new cutting- edge technologies and new ways to engage youth in Lions. LCI Forward will move us into our second century of successful service. My theme for is Bridge the Gap. We must bridge the gaps in Lionism, in generations, and in genders. We must attract more members to ensure the success of our great District. I challenge you to help Lions Club International and District N4 to reach our goals. 4 Message from 2nd Vice-District Governor Lion Jennifer Hutchings Congratulations to all clubs who participated in the District Lions Service Day, whether it was cleaning up playgrounds, paying parking meters, holding an Open House, doing a community clean up, helping with groceries and offering a free barbeque, - you were giving back to your communities who have supported you for many years. I certainly enjoyed chatting with residents of my community and stressing that we are there when needed. I hope the district will continue with this very important project for many years. I will be leaving for Fredericton on Wednesday for training,as I move up the ladder as your 1 st Vice District Governor, and to attend the Multiple District N Convention. I look forward to this training which I know will help me with my leadership skills. Keep doing the fantastic work you are doing in your communities and remember we need to keep asking our friends and family to become members of this GREAT organization. I hope all mothers had an enjoyable and relaxing day on Sunday! Lion Jennifer 2nd Vice District Governor Fellow Lions, Message from 2nd VDG Lion Jennifer Hutchings Chair Lion Max Simms Memorial Camp The Camp needs your support. Due to the low attendance at the April District Convention due to the weather, donations to the Lion Max Simms Memorial Camp are down. Rentals at the camp during the winter months were down as well, but our monthly expenses continue. A number of clubs have not yet made a donation to the camp this year. Please consider making a donation and send it to Lion Frank Antle, Camp Treasurer. Thanking you in advance. Lion Jennifer Chair, Lion Max Simms Memorial Camp. Page 4

5 Hello Fellow Lions, Message from Global Leadership Chair Lion Janine Howse Your GMT and GLT have worked together to bring a Forum to Zone 10 on April 29, Participants experienced presentations by DG Lion Sam Wells, Sight Conservation Chair Lion Bradley Moss, GMT Coordinator Lion Ches Pike, Public Relations Chair PDG Lion Harry Harding, and your GLT Coordinator. Lions were given an opportunity to express opinions, ask questions, and offer comments throughout the day. Refreshments, lunch and use of their facility was provided by the Marystown Lions. Feedback from those in attendance indicated a meaningful and successful day. Plans are being developed to bring this Forum to additional zones during the coming Lions year. Details should be available following the Cabinet meeting in August. Training for Zone Chairpersons, Club Presidents, Secretaries and Treasurers is planned for September/October Dates will be available once the schedule is finalized. It is hoped that many Lions who have taken these leadership positions will be available to attend. These sessions not only present much information and knowledge to support the roles, but also provide an opportunity to share ideas with fellow Lions. And, finally, as always, your GLT is eagerly awaiting the opportunity to answer your questions, address your concerns, and support your path to leadership.
