September is here already. Before we get into all the upcoming events, I want to thank David and Leslie for their breakfast drive and eat to Newton. We all enjoyed if very much. And another big thank you to all of you who drove for the Special Olympics. Your help was greatly appreciated! September will be a very busy month. First of all, I hope you will all be able to attend the meeting on Wednesday, September 2 at 7:00 at Don Hattan. There are numerous activities and car shows coming up this month that you will want to be sure you have all the information for. I know there is a group heading for Bowling Green this week and it is only a month until Eureka Springs. Officer at Large.....Kevin Mansfield N.C.C.C. Governor... 2 September, 2009 Volume 43 - Issue 9 Minutes from the Augusr 5, 2009 ACCC Meeting The meeting was called to order by President Dale Brotton at Don Hattan Chevrolet. We welcomed guest Chris McKellip from the Special Olympics. The motion was made and passed to accept the minutes as printed. Vice-President - David Snodgrass reported that we have 79 members. Treasurer - Randy King reported that the checking account has a current balance of $ savings and checking plus $20.00 cash. NCCC Governor - Bob Battaglear had nothing new to report that was not already published. Secretary - Marsha Battaglear had nothing. Officer-at-Large - Kevin Mansfield points as 1st Mansfield, 2nd Barkers, 3rd Mehls, 4th McKee, and 5th Brottons. Newsletter - Kent Michael reported that we should have the decals in 2 weeks. New Business Chris McKellip from the Special Olympics presented information about their fund raiser activity. Our club was asked and accepted to drive the athletes from the Newton Outlet mall to Our Lady of Guadalupe church in Newton. We will be escorted by the sheriff. We will line up at 6:00 pm and leave at 6:30 on August 21, We can participate in the Mexican dinner for $10 per plate. Approximately 30 cars are needed. Old Business Dale also welcomed Jan Stephens from the Lake Pointe Retirement Community. She shared the T-shirt design for their car show Sept. 26, She reported some changes to the original schedule. They now will have three bands in three different dining rooms. Doughnuts and coffee will be served for breakfast and a Bar-BQ lunch will be served from 11-1:30. In case of rain, the event will be rescheduled for Spring. ACCC participants will leave the zoo at 8:15 and arrive at the facility at 8:30. We were reminded of the South Winds car show Sept. 19th from 11am to 5pm. There will be 117 awards in 27 different classes this year. Corvettes will have their own classes. South Winds members do not qualify for trophies. There is a $20 entry fee. Those wishing to participate will leave Sam s Club at 9:30 am to caravan to Central Community Christian church. The Funkhana will be held at the Newton airport on Sept. 13, The start time has been moved to 1:00 because of the huge number of participants last year. Food will be offered for a nominal fee at 12 before the road course begins. With all of our new members, we are looking for another huge turn out this year. If your questions are not answered as to what to expect at this event, please ask a member. We discussed briefly taking a new group picture. David Snodgrass offered the parking lot at his business. We will revisit this in the Spring to set a date. 3 Volume 43 - Issue 9 September, 2009 One-of-a-Kind Corvettes on Display You had posters of them on your bedroom wall as a kid, maybe even a book featuring their sleek designs. Now, for a very limited time, you can see these one-of-a-kind concept cars in person at the National Corvette Museum. The four Chevrolet Corvettes, a 1961 Mako Shark Concept, 1965 Manta Ray Concept, 1973 Aerovette Concept and 1959 Stingray Racer, are all on loan from the General Motors Heritage Center in Sterling Heights, Michigan. These cars were some of the top prototypes developed by GM and hold a significant place in Corvette's history, said Betty Hardison, NCM Library and Archives Coordinator. They were on display when the Museum held the grand opening in 1994, so it was fitting to have them back for this grand re-opening event, 15 years later. The temporary display begins Tuesday, September 1 and continues through Wednesday, September 9, as part of the Museum's 15th Anniversary Celebration. The cars can be viewed in the National Corvette Museum's new Exhibit Hall. Corvette Trivia Across 6. The first year for the 327 Engine was NineTeen. 8. Fuel Injection was Standard Equipment on all Corvettes starting in NineTeen 4. The Z06 Option was first offered in the NineTeen Corvette. 5. A highly maneuverable armed escort ship that is smaller than a destroyer. 7. Dual Four-Barrel Carburetors were first offered in NineTeen 10. 4 September, 2009 Volume 43 - Issue 9 Minutes from the August 19, 2009 ACCC E-Board Meeting The meeting was hosted by Randy and Terry King at their home. President - Dale Brotton called the meeting to order and went directly to officer reports. Vice President - David Snodgrass stated that we have 79 memberships. He would like to secure the up-dates to the membership packets and start distributing them. Kent stated that he will try to get the info on the web page also. Treasurer - Randy King reported that Bank of America has begun charging $10.00 a month for savings accounts under a minimum which we do not meet. He has moved our savings to the checking account. We now have $ in checking with $20.00 held out for cash. He also mentioned that Dale needs to get his signature on the account. He and Dale will get together to do that. Officer-at-Large - Kevin Mansfield reported that he is in first, Mehls are 2nd, Barkers are 3rd, McKee is 4th and Brottons are 5th. He also has rooms available for Eureka Springs. Governor - Bob Battaglear had nothing new to report bud did ask why the club is considered a business. He was told that non-profits are considered corporations. He paid $40 for state fee. Secretary - Marsha Battaglear had nothing. Newsletter - Kent Michael asked if we would consider having ads in the newsletter. The board agreed that would be possible and set the fee at $30 a year. Old Business. The new decals will arrive in another week. We will leave Sam s at 9:30 to caravan to the South Winds car show. The Lake Point show caravan will meet at the zoo between 8am and 8:15 am. And leave at 8:15 to arrive there at 8:30. We discussed responsibilities for Funkhana. Kent and Kevin design the course. Marsha and Bob will come up with activities. Marsha will buy the food. Brats and hamburgers were requested. We will check with Monte about cooker. Cost of entry will be $5 per driver and the cost of food will be determined. We decided to ask members at the meeting about the Halloween party. Perhaps get a committee together. New Business We need to remind everyone that officer slots come up for election in November. Interested people need to contact a current E-Board member. You are reminded that you run for the E-Board not a particular position. That is sorted out by the newly elected board. 9 Wichita, Kansas Membership Application Regular membership dues for A.C.C.C. are $50.00 per year for new members and $45.00 per year for renewals. Membership dues include A.C.C.C. spouse membership and one National Council of Corvette Clubs (N.C.C.C.) membership. Associate membership, designed for the non-corvette owner, is $25.00 per year for new members and $20.00 per year for renewals. Associate membership does not include spouse or N.C.C.C. membership. A.C.C.C. requires all members to be at least 18 years of age and hold a current valid driver's license. Dues for renewals are payable on September 1st and are considered delinquent after the November A.C.C.C. meeting. Renewals received after the November meeting will be considered as new.
