October started out like most years, with a large contingency of the ACCC in Eureka Springs, AR., at Corvette Weekend. This year was the best weather since Paula and I have been attending. I think everyone had a great time participating in all of the events. Congratulations to Richard Johnson for winning his class in the Fuel Economy Run again. We had a great meeting this month with a lot of participation from the large turn out. We still need to finish up dues renewal, so if you haven t filled out your membership form and sent a check, please do so, or bring to the meeting. We went for a nice drive around town to a little out-of-the-way place on the west side of town. The owner met us in the parking lot when we arrived and we were treated to great service and great food. Thanks to Dale and Barbara Brotton for the great time. I hope to see everyone at the Halloween Rally, if not I ll see you at the meeting, Kevin. Page 1
2 November, 2005 Volume 38 - Issue 11 Minutes from the October 5, 2005 ACCC Meeting The October meeting was called to order by President Kevin Mansfield. We welcomed three new visitors: Gary Jones with a 92 LT1 and Alex and Sophia Nester with a C6 white convertible also a big Welcome Back from all of us to long time member Gene Brown. Last month s minutes were approved with a motion from Daryl Burbach and second by Gene Brown. Membership renewal drive is in swing and all members and new members need to take care of it asap, renewal is $45.00 and new membership cost is $ Kevin asked for volunteers for the upcoming elections that will take place at the November meeting, three positions will be open to anyone that wants to run. The Funkahauna report ended with Greg Esping taking 1st place, Marie Esping 2nd and David DaMetz 3rd, everyone will agree that attended we had a great day. Saturday, November 5th Drive & Eat Meet in the parking lot south of the Ice Sports Wichita Skating Rink 505 W. Maple. Officers Reports: Treasurer Gary Henderson reported the savings account has Hosted By: $1, and checking account with $1, Vice President Greg Esping no new report at this time. Kevin & Paula Mansfield Secretary Mary Mehl no new news at this time. Officer at Large Connie Fitzgibbons wanted to let everyone know that you can still order club jackets at Flying Colors just call them Group Leaves Promptly and that she is working on getting the points all totaled after trip to Eureka Springs. at 5:30 PM NCCC Governor Monte Rans reported receiving various flyer s of upcoming car shows if interested please ask Monte. Newsletter Editor Kent Michael said he is working on pictures of the Eureka Spring s Car Show and Effingham they should be on the web soon. New Business: Kevin wanted to let everyone know about this year s Halloween Party on October 29, the fee is $5.00 a car and bring a covered dish. Prizes will be given for best costumes and the best decorated pumpkin. The motion was made by Gene Brown for the club to pay for the meat at the party and second by Darrell Burbach all in favor. Also the cost for set up fee of the embroidered emblem put on the back of the club jackets turned out to be an extra $ Some of the members volunteered a portioned of the cost leaving $86.00 due to Flying Colors, a motion was made by John Fitzgibbons and second by Larry Roth all voted yes for the club to pay the difference. Kevin would still like input from members as to what fun things would they like to see the club do for next year, please let us know. Swap and Shop: Jack Crossman has a 99 coupe for sale please contact him and Pat Zenner has a 2000 hard top for sale. 50/50 pot won by Gene Brown was $15.00 and Door Prize won by Rex Corbin who chose a tape measure. 3 Volume 38 - Issue 11 November, Corvette Production Stats The first production year for the C6 officially came to a close on September 8, when the last 2005 Corvette came off the end of the assembly line. A total of 37,372 cars were built during the model year, with no ZO6 production. Coupes proved to be more popular than ever with 72 percent of total production and convertibles taking the remaining 28 percent. The most popular exterior color was Black (21.4 percent), followed by Light Tarnish Silver (18.4 percent), Victory Red (15 percent), Luxo Blue (10.1 percent), Magnetic Red (9.1 percent), Sunset Orange (8 percent), Millennium Yellow (5.4 percent), White (5.3 percent), Precision Red (3.5 percent), Velocity Yellow (2 percent) and Red Jewel (1.9 percent). Most convertible customers opted for the black top (86 percent), with only 11.3 percent choosing beige followed by 2.7 percent who chose gray. Interior color options are as follows: Ebony 60.9 percent, Light Cashmere 24.5 percent, Steel Gray 10 percent, and Cobalt Red 4.6 percent. Once again proving most popular, automatic transmissions accounted for 60 percent of the cars. Six-speed manual transmissions accounted for 17 percent, while 23 percent opted for the six-speed with the Z51 option. Export cars, other than Canada and Mexico, totaled 4.7 percent. Other popular options included: Memory Package (92 percent), Passenger and Driver Reclining Bucket Seats (98.4 percent), Telescoping Steering Wheel (87.3 percent), Polished Aluminum Wheels (72.5 percent), OnStar (52.5 percent), Heads Up Display (92 percent), and XM Satellite Radio (58.6 percent). Tickets are available at $250 each and this year s holiday raffle features one of the newest colors for the C6 generation models ñ Monterey Red. The winner will be drawn prior to the Christmas holiday on Friday, December 9 at 10:00 a.m. CT. The winner will also receive the R8C Museum Delivery Program option at the time the car is picked up. Corvette s Chief Engineer To Retire General Motors Corp. officially announced today that David Hill, currently GM vehicle chief engineer (VCE) for Corvette and vehicle line executive (VLE) for performance cars, will retire effective Jan. 1, 2006 after more than 41 years of dedicated service. Tom Wallace will replace Hill as vehicle line executive - performance cars and vehicle chief engineer for the Corvette. Additionally, he will assume responsibilities for compact rear-wheel-drive performance cars including Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky. Wallace currently is VLE for small/midsize trucks. "David Hill has taken the Corvette to heights that few of us can imagine. In terms of performance, refinement and value, he has truly helped to make Corvette second to none. Dave is a true car guy who will take his rightful place among the legends of Corvette lore," said Bob Lutz, General Motors vice chairman, global product development. 6 November, 2005 Volume 38 - Issue 11 Minutes from the October 19, 2005 ACCC E-Board Meeting This month s E-Board meeting was called to order by President Kevin Mansfield at Don Hattan Chevrolet. This month s elections were discussed and Vice President, Secretary and Officer at Large are the three openings that need to be filled and voting will take place at next meeting. Officers reports: Vice President Greg Esping is still working on the business cards for the club and hopes to have them finished by next meeting. Treasurer Gary Henderson reported savings has a balance of $1, and checking account $1, at this time. Secretary Mary Mehl reported no new news at this time. Officer at Large Connie Fitzgibbons is working getting the points updated. NCCC Governor Monte Rans reported he will be working on a spring Funkahauna and still checking into finding some timing lights the club can afford. Newsletter Editor Kent Michael had no new report. 9 Air Capital Corvette Club Wichita, Kansas Membership Application Regular membership dues for A.C.C.C. are $50.00 per year for new members and $45.00 per year for renewals. Membership dues include A.C.C.C. spouse membership and one National Council of Corvette Clubs (N.C.C.C.) membership. Associate membership, designed for the non-corvette owner, is $25.00 per year for new members and $20.00 per year for renewals. Associate membership does not include spouse or N.C.C.C. membership. A.C.C.C. requires all members to be at least 18 years of age and hold a current valid driver's license. Dues for renewals are payable on September 1st and are considered delinquent after the November A.C.C.C. meeting. Renewals received after the November meeting will be considered as new.
