2 Greetings! ifly Va Beach, the International Bodyflight Association (IBA) and USA Indoor Skydiving seek your ship for the 2nd U.S. National Indoor Skydiving Competition and World Cup Qualifier event series from May 3rd-6th, This event provides the opportunity for the best indoor skydiving athletes from across the United States to earn a spot on the prestigious U.S. Team which will compete for the World Cup of Indoor Skydiving at Gravity Bahrain in October Approximately 25 athletes will be selected for the U.S. team resulting from this competition. In April 2017, ifly Va Beach was selected to host the first U.S. National Indoor Skydiving Competition. 147 athletes and their support teams from across the U.S. and six other countries converged in Virginia Beach for the event. Professionally ed teams included the U.S. Army s Golden Knights, Team Red Bull, and the Canadian National Team. With over 30 wind tunnels nationwide and 120 worldwide, it was an honor to lead the way on behalf of the United States in this emerging sport. Both during and after the competition, we experienced great success with production and team attendance, and the overall results surpassed all expectations. The event s Livestream, shared through the ifly Va Beach Facebook page, yielded 55,000 views, 250K reaches, and 2.5 million engagements through likes, comments, and shares. Most intriguing, these numbers came without any paid promotions, all impressions were completely organic. The quality/attraction of the video speaks for itself. The Virginian Pilot, Inside Business, and live local news also reported on the competition. Without question, and as mentioned in most post event surveys, ifly Va Beach raised the bar for the sport of indoor skydiving. A two-minute recap of the event can be viewed at: The road to hosting the 2018 U.S. Nationals immediately began following our success in April of With such a positive reaction from our team here at ifly Va Beach, our s, and the competitors, we wanted to host the 2018 U.S. Nationals. In July, ifly Va Beach CEO Robert Pizzini traveled to Seattle to present a bid to host the 2018 US Nationals. In September, we were notified that of the 28 venues in the U.S. that could host, once again ifly Va Beach was selected. Holding the second U.S. National Competition comes with ample enthusiasm as two Va Beach based teams have become well known within the sport. One Va Beach team qualified for and competed in the 2017 World Championship held in Montreal this past October, where 23 countries sent over 200 competitors to the 2nd Federation Aeronatique International (FAI) World Championship. The other Va Beach team was selected to compete in March 2018, all expenses-paid, in the Sakura Cup held in Japan. With indoor skydiving exploding as an international sport with incredible popularity, it is with great pride that we are developing USA Indoor Skydiving headquartered in Virginia Beach.
