Ring Last Sunday of the month markets at Stockland. We will only be selling Orchids in bloom. Plants to be delivered to the stall by 9.30am on the day, we will be setting up from 8.30am. We plan to sell most items in our store marked up for the public. Members who help for 3 or more hours will only be charged 15% on their plant sales. Hills District Orchids hold four Open Days a year. 9.00am until 4.00pm Tea & coffee is provided and a BBQ is held from mid-morning to lunch-time. Koi show is on Sunday 19 th May We will be setting on Saturday so we will meet at the store at 5.30pm and then at the show ground from approximately 6pm and finishing around 7pm. On Sunday morning we will start at 7am with all plants to be on the stall by 9am, we will pull down 4pm. All cars must be outside by 8.30am. At our Winter show has any one got a suggestion for a theme for the floral Art class. In A Boot. Greg Knight moved that we should not pay rent this month. Russell Woods Seconded the move. Peter Gibson took the floor and talked on his ideas for growing orchids. Peter made suggestions for people having trouble growing orchids, try growing in jumbo perlite with river stones on top in double pots. Perlite must be washed to remove all dust and it is reusable. For fertilizer Peter recommended tuna & blood from South Australia, & fish emulsion 26 30mm per liter of water. For Cymbidiums, Dendrobiums, Speciosum & Cattleya which need more weight Peter got some yellow stones from Bunnings Landscape section. Peter suggested slow release Fertlizer, Magamp, hydroponic fertilizer Orchid Bloom, GT Super & liquid SilIca.
