1 Dear Member, We have LOADS of exciting news and information to share with you!!! I suggest you make yourself a cup of tea/coffee first! J 2017/18 ADNL NETBALL SEASON commences 3rd September 2017 New Venue! We are very excited about a brand new netball facility being built at Zayed Cricket Stadium, Khalifa City. The whole site is undergoing major development which includes 4 netball courts, plenty of changing and bathroom facilities, as well as space we will be able to use for tournaments, presentations, meetings, office and storage space etc! This facility will offer many benefits that we don't currently have access to due to restricted space, venue regulations, and cost. The new venue will offer ADNL: Room for expansion for both Juniors and Seniors Guaranteed priority booking of courts and facilities Ability to run additional netball activities; - Umpiring courses - Netfit - Fitness for mums (during some Junior sessions) - Back To Netball (training sessions for adults returning to the game) - Elite training sessions Ability to host more social community events & tournaments to bring netball community together; - BBQ's/picnics - Presentations - Fun themed/seasonal tournaments - Mixed tournaments - Fundraisers Ability to host more high level competitive tournaments, local and international In short, this facility means more netball! Additionally, the site will offer multiple gyms, squash courts, café, restaurants, football fields, and more.

2 Refurbishment and development of the site is well under way, however we are not yet in a position to confirm what date we will be able to 'move in'. The aim is for September. Yesterday I drove between the cricket stadium and Zayed Sports City, it took me 8 minutes so hopefully this will not be an issue Training Days A couple of changes to training days have been necessary next season due to an increase in our numbers and to minimise clashes with the school league. By working around ADISSA (school league) dates, the hope is that girls won't miss out on ADNL during their school league fixtures. Training days for 2017/18 season will be as follows: U10 - Sunday from 6-7pm. This dedicated time will allow for specific training for the U10 s as well as ensuring they have plenty of space to learn the game while also getting plenty of court time. U12 - Monday from 6-7pm U14 - Monday from 7-8pm Youth (U16-U19) - Monday from 8-9pm Desert Championships Tournament Thurs 26th Oct - Sat 28th Oct Dubai Sports City Open to athletes born between 1st January st December This tournament is at an additional cost. Estimate for the weekend is 1000aed per player which includes; - transport (not optional - all players must travel with the team) - accommodation (not optional - all players must stay with the team) - entry fees - Netfit session - breakfast/lunch Fri & Sat Registration closes Saturday 10th June. On-line registration: A non-refundable deposit of 500aed per player is required by Sunday 11th June (see 'Final Registration Dates' below) Final costs and payment dates for Desert Champs Tournament will be confirmed as soon as possible. Accommodation: All athletes are expected to travel and stay with the team. We are working on securing a hotel in close proximity to Dubai Sports City (tournament location). Players will be allocated share rooms, however parents are welcome to stay in the same hotel. We will let you know once details are confirmed and you can book independently.

After these dates there will be no more opportunities to complete membership registration until September - if there are any spaces left! For those who haven't confirmed sizes for kit - your order will be delayed if you don't see us by 11th June. This delay may also incur extra cost for your kit. Dates for the Diary! While we are very excited about the changes ahead and what it will mean for ADNL and netball in Abu Dhabi, we also realise some of you may be personally impacted by change of day and/or location. If you are no longer able to join ADNL Juniors as a result of these changes, we will give you a full refund if we are notified by Sunday 11th June ***NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED AFTER 11th June '17***

4 ADNL Committee News The ADNL Annual General Meeting was held on the 5th May. The new ADNL committee is as follows: Executive Members Additional Members Chair Tanya Bertoldi Umpire Development Officer Vice Chair Annemarie De Beer Juniors/Youth Coach Representative Secretary Mariaan Konig Social Sub-Committee Lead Sian Roscoe Kelly Dean Stella Brockway Treasurer Adele Van Heerden Sports Council Liaison John Larkins Junior Development Officer Lisa Proctor ADNL Juniors Sub-Committee Junior Development Officer, Lisa Proctor, will continue to lead the Juniors. The financial administration of Juniors will be undertaken by the ADNL Committee. Volunteers needed! With Tanya taking on the role of Chair, we have a gap in the Juniors to assist with general communication and administration. If you can, and would like to help, please let Lisa know asap. Also, we will need two parent representatives, one from Juniors (U10 - U14) and one from Youth (14-19yrs) to help with co-ordination and communication with parents. If you are interested any these roles, please let us know asap! UAENA (United Arab Emirates Netball Association) This is very exciting news for anyone involved in netball in the UAE. Not only will this provide the opportunity for players represent the UAE on the international stage, it means that we will have access to international resources, internationally qualified coaches, umpires, and selectors. It also means we can host international competitions! To share in all this and keep updated, register with the UAENA now!
